There's a difference, you realize? Her opinion isn't suggesting that a type of person should be treated unfairly. You can't fight "Hate" with nice language, you have to point out "why" treating anyone as "Inferior" is wrong no matter what political light you try to shed on it.

It's like you're trying to contrive the argument and tell them "Religious people can say being Gay is wrong, but you're not allowed to tell them that their beliefs are wrong."

I can tell that you're trying to be diplomatic, and I appreciate it but the honest answer is, there's no diplomatic answer for this. It's like stabbing someone in the stomach, and when you ask why it upset them, you say "If you bring up the stab wound than you're just being hateful."

I'd MUCH prefer purely cosmetic stuff. I don't want to be forced into marriage for stats (I am a raider; stats DO matter to me) since my BF doesn't play.

Like everything the DEVs in any game will insert into: there will be haters, and lovers ;)

The way I ultimately see it is, if you're going to introduce something that was designed around adding a quality of "fun" to the game, but can clearly see that you're upsetting a large group of users than it defeats the purpose. It is seen more like a metaphorical "Slap-in-the-face" to a particular player base, and in the long run will cause more harm than good. It's no longer an innocent, innocuous form of fun the moment it was contrived through real life's political influence.

I'm not gay, and even though this won't effect me I can honestly see why it's bothersome. It would be like if the game was anti-black, and because Japan might have had something against suggesting black people can date asian people, decided to remove them from the game. No one would be sitting here going "It's just a game." they would be taking out their pixelated pitchforks and torches and burning Square's reputation to the ground.

In the end, I say either avoid implementing it at all, or make it fair grounds for everyone of every gender.

Stats have no place in this system. At all.

You really have to look at it from the other foot. There is a large group of people who would be upset if there WERE same sex marriages in this game. So it works both ways.

I, however, don't care. It's just a game and baring any special effects won't even bother with it. People can marry whoever they want in my book (not that anyone cares what my opinions are~).

I wonder why Yoshi thinks, not allowing same-sex "marriage" would be less controversial than allowing it, he doesn't seem to be the naive type. Given the demographics of its player base, the outrage will be immense and Rock, Paper, Shotgun will run two features about it, Kotaku will counter with four, and on next years GDC, instead of begin able to talk about the relaunch and F2P, he will have to attend a panel on diversity and make atonement for that design decision. The praise they got for implementing no chain mail bikinis for armor which makes males look like space marines and making male and female bathing suits equally skimpy will give them no credit, when the rage will hit.

The proponents are vocal and passionate about it, and see differing opinions as not legit, but short of a crime, the people who strongly object to the idea probably don't play the game and the majority who doesn't care, well doesn't care.

Japan still focus more on hetersexual marriage system and their culture is customed that way. DEV will think twice before inplementing same sex to prevent backlash.

Using Loli/Tentacle/yuri/yaoi as evidence that they will be ok is pretty stupid. In Japan, those are not common, its like saying America is like American Pie movie.

Parents are pretty strict about what the children watch, just because countries outside Japan get pirated material that are "obscene", does not mean it is the norm in Japan.


So are they gonna called it church? because that is discriminatory. Are they going to have 'Christian" type of wedding? that is discrimiantory!

So i reality, i can find injustice anywhere i want.
