"We want content easier than Savage, but harder than dungeons!"
We have it. It's called Weeping City, all groups wipe or complain for healer LB3 on Forgall, and it's hell.

I don't know whether to cry or to laugh.
Yesterday I did 60 roulette as a BRD. Got it to 60 a few days ago and I am still trying to figure things out.
Was paired with another BRD dps who seemed to have at least some experience with this job. He tried to give me a few tips to do better and I replied with "kk" since we were in the middle of a fight.
Once the fight was over, he told me he was actually surprised for me not insulting him. According to him (something which I rarely ever see), most players would've become offended in this situation because they deem their own playstyle to be perfect.
I know that online game communities usually are full of pathetic creatures who always get offended by something, but that BRD's statement somehow really threw me off.
Just had my first legitimate use of /facepalm - the DF never ceases to amaze/disappoint me.
Void Ark - DRG in our party with 18500 HP, until you realise that his left side was all i120 Ironworks gear, with the right side being i200+ VIT accessories.
The party refuses to kick. "It's an easy raid, just carry him." The guy taunts me for the rest of the run.
This is why we can't have nice things, poeple.
Wow. Maybe your DRG knew the one that was in my alliance. Their left side was full augmented lore gear...right side augmented ironworks jewelry. Like. Why?! Not sure if these two were just trolling or if they were legit serious about using ironworks gear in 60 content.
About Void Ark, last month I saw a BLM in my party with 5k HP... I avoided heal him. And little after the other healer also stopped. We only let him dead there until decide change of gear and to stay with 15k HP.
Anyway, only yesterday I did the new dungeon (I was 1 week without playing for lack of money to paid the monthly fee).
Xelphatol: Playing as scholar (iLvl 239) was a little easy and without deaths. But perhaps because tank and both dps was good.
The Great Gubal Library (Hard): Playing as bard (also iLvl 239 and all acessory with materia vit) and died once and almost dead other 2x. I not blame healer because I failed in avoid some aoe.
Then after this I did roulette ex as bard. Was Xelphatol in progress. Second boss. Healer and other dps around 14-15k HP. Only had a wipe and was between second and last boss, because I had ignored the balloons.
Roulette leveling as bard: Haukke Manor in progress. Was only 1 dps there. I said "Well, probably not going enter tank and healer at the same here. Better give up?" and voted abandon. After 1 minute I enter in Aurum Vale. Tank said something as "God hate me", other dps "I hate this place", and then I only say "Well, in 2 years I never saw someone love this place". Despite complaints, was easy.
Final Steps of Faith from Trials this morning.... We have a lot of new people, which is fine. First wipe, its due to low DPS and we weren't able to kill the ads fast enough and I had to spam heals. Second wipe is from the omg Nidhogg charging lazaaaahs. More than half the party didn't stack. Last and third wipe is when Nidhogg only has 1% left HP.
What a fantastic "good morning" from SE.
When you get aurum vale 4 days in a row from leveling roul., tempting to level a new class just so it can't pop up x.x.
Also, had a funny final steps of faith moment, i mt'd, and after 3 wipes (new people, so i knew it might take a few runs) the other tank left, we get a new one, who said they were new, pops tanks stance and charges in, now i got like 4k more hp then this guy, and one of our healers being new, i immediately ask " uh, you may want me to mt", no response, 10 seconds later, they bit the dust and left after blaming healer. I know i prolly should've just provoked back, but i was hoping the quick death would make him realize he couldn't handle it, since the new healer was freaking out over the damage the party was taking. All he had to do was ask whos mting x.x
So. Serious question here: final boss Echidna in VA.
When she splits, how do the adds usually go?
Whenever I run it, I notice that A tends to go north, B left, and C right.
----A----
B-------C
I've even had runs where people put the waymakers down this way. Anyways, last night, I'm running it because the game-hubby wanted to run it, and we're double healing it. We're Alliance A, and we were on point. Anyways, after the first add split, I notice Sinister is tethered to Echidna, but the tank drags him to the left. No big. We downed them, she does her flashy explosion, we start attacking her again, when B shouts about A needing to position their add correctly.
Now, I watched her split again, and Echidna was pointing north. I'm not sure if it was because our tank was running north, or if that's how she naturally splits, but I've never done VA differently? And we had zero issues. I understand other 24-mans do A-B-C, and it makes sense, but...
Anyways, clarification would be much appreciated. ^^
And sorry if this is kind of a derpy question. I'm like super tired, but...^^;;;
Just sounds to me someone from B was just mad they had to pull theirs away verses everyone just getting to go full tilt immediately after break, which just happens sometimes. It sounds like it was corrected fast.
The actual positions and who grabs who doesn't matter that much, just that they are separated and the DPS are on them all.
Took my brand new Sophic Axe into trials, other tank had the Sophic Edge and I admired it. Was about to ask if they were going to MT but they dropped while two people watched the cutscene. Sighed, called for backup in FC chat, a dps dropped as well.
Long story short, that DRK missed out on a quick, easy poetics bonus. And I got to comm my FC machinist for joining us in progress.
Adds will split, with Echidna spawning where the boss was (facing the same direction), Sinister behind and to her left, and Dexter behind and to her right. Sinister and Dexter are tethered together, with a stacking vulnerability down based on how close they are (so tanks should pull them as far apart as possible). Echidna will fixate on the tank from alliance A, Sinister to B, and Dexter to C. This is not based on aggro; if there is a tank for that alliance, they will fixate on it (if the tank is dead or locked out, the add will then go based on aggro).
Because of wanting to keep the snakes as far from each other as possible, their waymarks (B+C) go on opposite sides of the arena, with Echidna (A) going north, between them.
Howling Eye - Extreme in DF (needed it to finish off the quest to get an eye meltingly bright kettle). Thought, well if Titan Ex in DF was cleared no problem, then surely this one will be ok...
Party setup was AST (me), SCH, PLD, WAR, SMN, SMN, BRD, DRG.
First pull, everyone stands behind the pillars instead of the middle (which I didn't understand- I mean I took a year long break so I thought maybe I was missing something that had changed in the strategy since being away) and a few ppl ran out to get hit by mistral shriek, but survived. Ok, no big deal. The fun really started when the adds spawned, as in the WAR didn't pull their one away, and they proceeded to annhilate the pillars and the party one by one. Of course someone's first recourse was to blame the healers. Used to that, so whatever :)
The PLD put down markers and told the OT to pull theirs south and we tried again... Rinse and repeat a few times, with the SCH standing right next to the PLD and getting hit with every AoE possible, leaving me to spam heal him, the MT and the OT and anyone else getting hit.
We eventually make it to the next stage somehow after a few retries and what is the first thing that happens? You guessed it - bye bye Spiney. The PLD proceeds to ask if anyone has any questions. Silence. We try again, and Spiney gets killed once more. The PLD asks if anyone is new and yet again silence. I have no issue with people being new and learning, but at least say something so things can be explained ?
Anyway, we are now down to 26mins remaining, and after getting a drink (I imagine alcoholic) the PLD politely tells the group NOT to kill the Spiney plume until Garuda leaves the middle and off we go again. Huzzah ! And then it turns out no-one knows where to run to afterwards, and for some unknown reason the SMN's are pingponging over the green whirlpools and I don't even... More wiping and Spiney being killed again.
The SCH was dead more than alive but somehow we eventually clear the run- I can't even remember how much time was left, but I think it was close to the countdown. To cap it all, the achievement message popped up for not 1, 2 or 3 people, but 5. In the words of the PLD "Holy s**t", to which I couldn't agree more - grats on the clear guys, but seriously next time please at least one of you pipe up lol. The MT was nothing but patient, offering little bits of advice (to people that supposedly had no questions on what to do) and doing an awesome job to help get the clear with none of the party admitting that they knew zero mechanics. Neither he, one of the BRDs or I, having done the fight before (and having still stuck around to the bitter end), would have judged you for it :(
But I got a shiney kettle, so yay I guess.
Mentor Roulette -> The Navel (Extreme) as DRK
I initiated a ready check before pulling and my PLD co-tank which was the-only-one not ready telling me that I was rushed?, dude asked me where would I position the adds, to which I answered "anywhere around the edges". Our first attempt, PLD fell off at heart phase, leaving me tanking titan and adds, one of the gaol died at East and the other at around south east to which the PLD complained that they were too spread out?, whatever i didn't bother to comment on that. A fail is a fail.
We wiped for like 3-4 times and this PLD kept falling off mostly at or before heart phase. At one point he tried to provoke titan's heart and died soon after that.. On our clear attempt, PLD tried to griefed us down there by saying "do me a favour and kick me ty, fk that fail".. After winning, the respawning PLD said "it's simple after upheavel theres landslide but i don't fk get in action rolf"..
Meh... Players these days..
Gz on your kettle ^^ Garuda EX though... must be one of the most frustrating DF things ever. Anytime my bf wants to run it I cringe. I know we can do it, but it's who we get matched with... that poor Spiny dies early so much >.< and the only time i've seen the horse whistle, I rolled a 2. Fml D:
Did a level 60 roulette with a friend yesterday, me on pld, he on smn. We get a scholar and a blm (both well geared; blm even with his relic) - juhu! Big pulls! AoEs left and right!
...but stuff is dying slooowly...? Whats up with that, I wonder! And then I notice what the blm is doing: casting Fire III until out of MP, transpose, casting a few blizzard III, casting Fire III until out of MP... me and the scholar are aksing for Fire II (and maybe even some of the new HW-stuff... please...?) But, nope, nothing - except for the bossfights where they can use Fire IV and enochian all out of sudden... I guess it was someones little sister playing or so, probably not able to read...
Thank you. This is exactly how I thought the fight worked, with B to the left, C to the right, and A north. I even said that to the other person and essentially got a long spill about how they've been playing for years, blah blah, all 24-mans are done A-B-C not B-A-C, blah blah. I didn't see the issue considering the adds were downed each time very quickly and we literally had no deaths in any of the alliances at all that run. But thank you. ^^
When she splits, Echidna always goes to group A, Dexter (the right hand snake) goes to group B, and Sinister (left hand) goes to group C. They go to the tanks if they're alive; I'm not sure who it picks if the tank happens to be dead.
It doesn't matter where the markers are. They go to the targeted player. If the players are standing too close, then the parts are tethered together and you get negative mechanics. If two tanks both head to the same point, one of them has to move. Preferably both since that will separate the parts fastest.
As for who is supposed to go where, it doesn't matter as long as everybody uses the same plan. If there's no marker, it should be stated beforehand. If there's a marker, and a tank sticks to their own plan, it's on them.
Personally, I find ABC is simplest since all the other fights in the 24 man raids are also divided this way. BAC is only desirable if you want to keep the right hand snake on the right--there is no reason for it beyond aesthetics.
Actually, yes it does.
If B and C go together, the two snakes, while not tethered, will have damage reduction (usually 3 stacks worth) because of their proximity.
While redundant in the grand scheme of things because of how faceroll the content is now, the snakes should be on opposite sides to minimize stacks and make sure they die quickly.
They're exactly the same as Garuda and her adds.
Did you know the boss in A12 eventually casts a second Judgment Protocol if the DPS sucks? Well, thanks to this dragoon who did like 600 DPS, I do know now :)
Found that out during my first run. He enraged at 7 percent. In our defense five of us were new. All DPS and one tank. The other three taught us the fight and were really patient. After that enrage though a couple other DPS started saying there gear was breaking and bailed. It took me three parties to finally clear it. I even got to play teacher a couple of times. And that clear party was a piece of art. Everything went smooth and we burned him down so fast I only saw the tethers once.
I need to get this off my chest: SOPHIA EX IS SO RAGE INDUCING!!! I've spent 4 hours today trying to clear her, learned all mechanics, seen it multiple times, but I just ~can't~ clear that thing. Multiple people dying to mechanics and leaving me alone, one stray meteor at the freaking middle of the arena killing everyone, tanks not provoking tankbuster, solo-healing a triple-chain of Cintamani, wrong calls on party chat...
This is my first time doing a Primal recently released, but are groups always this hard to deal with? I'm not the most skilled for sure, but WHY THE HELL people get hit by Aero III cast?
So I joined a duty in the duty finder for Stone Vigil.
We had this stuck up Lalafell healer that was like "I've completed this duty like 50 times, I am great at it."
Mans was dying at every boss and couldn't dodge the easy stuff, they also never healed.
So when I was being sarcastic to him, he flipped shit and blamed me for the losses, when I was the last one alive throughout every loss.
And then he tried to critique our correct playing with minor details that weren't relevant or made any difference.
Which made me and my friend laugh for the entire time in our Skype call.
I was doing the Trail where you have to stop the dragon from getting to ishgard. The first time we lose and the dragon destroys the city. So someone is like "Do you people even know what your doing" and so I say nope no idea haven't done this one. So no one explains anything and starts the fight again. Who would have guessed, wipe.
So then everyone votes to quit. I then read a guide, realizing this had a lot of mechanics, re-qued and did it on the first try after helping with the canons/snares and the guys are like this is the best run on this I've ever had.
You mean the hard enrage? The first week of content? When people are first learning the fight? When people are closest to minimum ilvl? Yeah, you're going to see enrage at times. It's not that big of a deal. Give people time to learn the fight before you start crying low DPS.
My cohealer in A12 could not react to damage going out. It took 3-4 seconds after a megaholy going out for them to do anything, and hesitation like that can and has killed us on several occassions.
that too lol. Being dead "kills" your dps.
Ta-da-TSssssh
Quick update: I gave up trying to beat Sophia EX. My brain was so tired yesterday of wiping and wiping and wiping that on my last try I just walked off the platform on my own while looking at the Focus Target. I spent AT LEAST six hours yesterday trying to clear it.
So, I've been using raid finder to get some Sophia totems and something really bothers me.
Why do people think that using complicated symbols for the stacking mechanic is a good idea? Just mark tanks and healers with 1-4 and assign a dps to each of them.
BUT THAT WOULD BE TO EASY, RIGHT?
"Let's use 1, 2, targed to bind 1, target to bind 2, square, circle, target to ignore 1 and target to ignore 2.
What? No, this isn't messy at all. Don't question my logic!"
To be fair, most parties simply use 1-4.
It's still annoying to get one of those parties once in a while.
But meh, whatever. This is Raid Finder, what do I expect?
In this case, they're matching with colours instead of numbers, Blue & Blue, Red & Red, Purple & Purple, Yellow & Yellow.
A lot of groups I've been with has prominently used the Colour method rather than the number method.
The pro of this is it's easier to match the marks in my opinion, it also gives a little more confidence to the people you're matching it with.
One of the cons is it is initially confusing to those who aren't familiar with this, and there's also colour blind people I've done it with who prefer to go by numbers.
P.S.
I haven't joined any parties on Ragnarok in the PF, but I've had a lot of success with the Raid finder on Sophia.
Attempted brayflox for the first time as a SCH. Fresh 32.
We get through the dungeon relatively decently aside from the fact that I'm gradually getting all the aggro from the trash mobs and the tank never bothers to take any of them until the trash he's singletargetting dies.
Not a single CD is used. Ever.
There's a decent 42 mnk, and one 60 nin who oddly seems to be lower on the aggro bars for nearly everything.
But it's the final boss that's particularly bad.
This pld gets hit by LITERALLY EVERY VERTICAL LINE AOE and doesn't even bother getting out, even when I ask him to (after what, four times).
It's a struggle keeping him and everyone alive, especially because of all the poison stacks he's getting and the fact that the only 'esuna' available to me is that one 60s cd that Selene has.
But we miraculously manage to survive.
And afterwards, the 60 nin says, "healer needs a bit of work", and then leaves.
