If it is better or not doesn't really matter. The fact that it is not the common method makes it worse for df when poeple are grinding out relic. If it causes one wipe you have probably lost any time it saved in a whole.day of grinding, which makes it worse.

But from what you are saying, I understand you are trying to do the savage style tank swap when they are tanking at the south end rather than the common north end. If the tank takes it south I would never consider it anything but a troll attempt to take it off of them, especially without communicating it first.

If you are attempting a method other than the meta, you need to communicate it first or risk wipes. Communicating it takes more time than it saves, and ond wipe costs more time than it saves.

Also, I've never had an issue voking .5 as it leaves the ramp.

I only did 30 runs of A1N for my relic, and in that time I saw a mix of ways to do Oppressor. I saw some tanks tank north, some south, some in the middle. I saw OT grab 0.5, and I saw OT grab oppressor. I don't think there is a 'standard' way to do it - at least not in my data center. That said, OT grabbing oppressor, taking it north and having the MT stand still to take 0.5 seems to be the cleanest way to handle the swap.

I did A1N yesterday for the first time. Didn't know the mechanics honestly and I've done VA plenty of times as well as all the Ex's except for Thordan. So I didn't think anything of A1N (also figuring that you know, people would speak up and tell me if I need to know anything when I ask...). I queued up with some friends. We consisted of the 2 tanks (WAR and PLD) and 2 DPS (MCH and SUM). First up, Faust. We tell the party both tanks are new and I simply ask if there was anything we should know. My friend who has run it (MCH) said it's pretty straight forward and another party member said the same. We start pull, and oh hey, look. An add. nbd. Now my thought process was to just keep hitting Faust. Oh hey, another add. They still haven't killed the 1st one. W/e, guess we're burning. They'll take care of it. Annnnd another add. And another and another. Is no one going to pull them? Our healer's are almost dead? Now since no one is picking up or killing the adds and they are pummeling our healers, I decided that perhaps I should try to grab them. 2 or 3 flashes later and oh hey look. The dragoon took aggro. Great. I didn't even pull the hate off the healers yet, so now, I simply have no aggro on anything (maybe 1 add...) and we wipe.

I know that the fight should not have been hard and I recall hearing about solo tanking here, but I assumed that was the main boss, not the small one. So I simply chimed in with, "no one thought to mention there's a million add's I should grab?"
After that, someone said, "yea, usually the MT grabs them before they hit others".... Great, glad to know now...

Next pull wasn't a problem. I grabbed them all and we burned Faust like he was nothing (knowledge is power!)

Now for Oppressor. I ask again, "Anything I should know here? Again, both tanks new". Not even joking. DRG attacks Oppressor. Seriously. So you can probably guess. It was a pretty quick wipe. Next go, someone else ask's, "so who's new?" =_=

We got an explanation this time. The issue however, was that the people running it with us were pretty much all decked out gear wise. I'm avg ilvl 190. The WAR was a little under ilvl 180. I was fine keeping aggro, but I would only be a bit ahead of the DRG, BLM and healers. The party told me, you can take Oppressor North or South, when .5 comes, OT takes. Ok, simple enough. I take it north... When .5 comes out however, it was immediately stacked on top and honestly, you couldn't even tell there were 2 of them.... Now this next part was my mistake as I didn't quite think about the situation from OT standpoint (especially under-geared). I just thought, oh hey, 2 for 1. CoS! I noticed a voke right before it went off.... Opps. My friend just couldn't rip .5 off me. I tried to see if maybe I could help by moving to south instead. Nope. Nope nope nope. Don't do that. Long story short. We wipe. Party is angry. I'm trying to calm it down. Someone chimes in with, "usually MT takes Oppressor to the south so it's easier for .5 to be picked up". Yup, I noticed now. Thanks.

So this time, I do exactly that. Pull it south, and .5 comes popping his head back in again. OT goes to pull. And it was exactly as those above posted. She couldn't take because I had such a huge lead on it. She voked, but it wasn't until it got to me. Eventually, they were pulled to opposite ends, but it was such a messy pull and it caused some issues, which eventually lead to a wipe. We got them down to 12% though. But once again, not being told mechanics is what killed us. OT used AoE attack (not sure which) when the adds popped up. So she had them both on her. She didn't know that she needed to move them under the missiles. So we ate a few and that left us too damaged to recover. 3 left the party at this point.

Then I thought, maybe I should be OT since I can generate more hate quickly. So we decide to switch it. Seemed like a good idea as I could very easily steal .5 when he came out. But once again, I didn't think things through completely... The new DPS that joined us were all decked out still. Like, ilvl 200 avg at least if not higher. WAR pulls, and starts dragging south. Maybe like, 2 seconds later, someone took hate. Now, I'm in sword oath at the moment. So I'm like, crap! I try using my enmity generator's and voke to get ahold, and I do. But it took a few seconds and the DPS and healers were probably half hp because they kept switching between all of them. I drag Opp to the south and then establish a decent hold (while in sword oath mind you). After I get to a good point, I tell WAR to voke and take and it worked just fine. I switch to shield oath and grab .5. We do wipe again unfortunately. But this time, it was the healer blaming the DPS for not doing their jobs. There were a few missiles missed as well as an overall complaint that DPS was too slow. *sigh*.

Next go is when I decided to look at gear and realized why WAR had a hard time holding. So I tell everyone I'll grab Opp to start and establish a good hold on him then WAR will voke and take and I'll grab .5. People liked the idea. Basically, right when the bells started ringing that .5 was coming, WAR would voke and I'd simply stop hitting. Once taken, I'd grab .5 and it'd be real easy as I was only a tiny bit from the top of the enmity list for .5. Shield lob would be enough for me to take, no need to even use voke. And luckily, we had finally found the magic combo xD
Everyone finally knew what had to be done. I had also gotten into the habit of popping divine veil when Opp and .5 went into the air and we'd all stack on the opposite side. Think that actually helped a lot as I saw a few times that my Divine Veil was falling off DPS prior to the time being up.

Can't wait for A2N.... T-T

Just had the fastest Neverreap run ever, I went on AST and had a WAR, BLM and SMN with me. The WAR always pulled everything possible and the mages melted the mobs literaly within seconds. Things were dying SO fast that my card buffs sometimes were still up when all the pulled trash was dead. We were done within 16 minutes in total, but the best thing was the WAR saying, "the first really good astro in a good while ... god i love those healers", making me proud as hell :)

Leveling Roulette on my 57 Dragoon came up with Dusk Vigil yesterday. At the very first group of mobs, the tank stacks them in a nice pile of three so I start AEing them like I would expect in most any level 50+ dungeon. It doesn't take long before I have one of the mobs on me personally, but I keep going like normal thinking the tank will pull aggro back. I wind up Dragoon tanking the mob for about half of its health. Afterward the healer comments that they're wondering who the tank is, so I say that I'll tone it down some and they reply that I shouldn't have to. At that point the tank goes "link dead" and never comes back. *sigh* The disappointing part is that none of us in the group were even really surprised by their behavior.

Honestly, the most surprising part of your experience to me was that people actually stuck it out through multiple wipes on A1N. Since most runs go quickly and the wait time in duty finder is frequently almost instant, people tend to bolt at the first sign of a challenge. I've actually experienced it once where I was running back after a wipe and got to the boss only to have a dialog popping up asking me if I wanted to look for more party members... because all seven other people had already left while I was running back for the next round.

I had that yesterday in A2N, we wiped because I had 5 stacks of vulnerability and the other tank thought all he had to get was the gob widow while I got everything else. The Jagd dolls flattened me, trashed the healers, then wiped the party. This after I'd shamed a dps into trying walker because no one else would and dps seem to think they don't have to anymore.

The bard did his best, still had vulnerable bc he ran out of walkers, but we got through. It was rough.

The A2N pulls mess me up a bit bc they are very different from Savage.

Went on leveling dragoon in the vault, I ended up with a paladin, bard (both being new and french, and they obviously queued together) and scholar.
The paladin went ahead until he met the first trash group aaaand no Flash, no CDs, only Rage of Halone combo and some Circle of Scorn, the latter being used after every mob but one has run to Eos and thus out of CoS's range. He took the mobs back with Shield Lob rather than Flash or Provoke, but at least he tried... And he really didn't have the slightest clue about how to position a mob, he turned them towards the group or around and had always at least one mob hitting him from behind.
The bard was worse though. She started without Minuet (but activated it later after I asked her to do so), used her Flaming Arrow exactly once only to shoot it into the middle of nowhere, her rotation was Straight Shot - Venomous Bite - Iron Jaws and she ignored any boss mechanic although I explained her, even in french ._.
But the bard I had in the vault run after that was EVEN worse. NO MINUET DURING THE ENTIRE DUNGEON ._.

I'm new to the game and when I entered a dungeon (can't remember which one it was) I was there for like 2 minutes when my mouse and my keyboard cut out completely. Worse thing was I was supposed to be healing and I couldn't move, heal or talk! I dread to think what the group thought of me just standing there doing nothing! To make matters worse I totally panicked, so when I went to unplug and re-plug my keyboard in I accidentally ended up phoning up our local taxi company (I was totally unaware of this at the time) and there I was cursing away shouting at my keyboard and mouse to work. When I noticed that the phone was active I quickly put the phone down. So yeah, I hate to think what my local taxi company thought of me also! :P

In the end it turned out that I need to update the drivers, and had to restart my computer and by the time I managed to log back into the game I was no longer in the party, so I presume they got fed up with me and removed me. Not that I blame them of course :)

A while back I was doing trials roulette as a Dragoon and got Titan HM.
There were two other dragoons in the party and one of the dragoons made a joke about elusive jumping off the platform.

Run goes alright, one of the dragoons ends up getting punted off at one point I think.


Get near the end of his life bar and I move away to avoid the plumes and go to hit spineshatter to get back on Titan quickly...

My fingers miss, instead I hit elusive jump!
I jump backwards in horror.... I see my character land just on the edge with a slight feeling of relief, until I slide off to join the other dragoon on the floor.

Oh the shame!
But they manage to finish Titan off, and we have a laugh about my misfortune.




And that Dragoon who made the joke at the beginning..?

I just finished an amazing level 50 roulette as a WHM.

Got brayflox, group was amazing, run went super fast.

I am sorry that I didn't commend that incredible tank, but the bard that was using Foe Requiem only for me!!!
