There you go. You have a companion. Pretty much everybody has a chocobo.
Why must you be so defiant? "I think black mage chocobos are ugly and stupid, therefore I wont use one and I demand that you make the game so I don't have to!" it looks to me like you're resisting for the sake of resisting. Suppose SE adds some godly new armor but it looks ugly. Are you going to complain that you "have" to use this ugly armor to keep up with the Joneses?

adn btw, relatet to point #2.. the most recent ff with a "chocobo companion" is ffxiii-2, where player can tame a chocobo. Every color have different roles in party.
Or even ff tactics can use chocobos as units -
