^ I do, for cosmetic reasons. But that wasnt the point. Sometimes you go with "less than ideal" because its there. Sometimes, the difference between "less than ideal" and "ideal" is negligible. 1 tank, 2 whms, all range DD's is "ideal" in FFXIV. Are you saying its justifiable for no one to want to party with melee dd's? Of course not.

/facepalm: you dont need to be ideal to win. You dont need to be ideal to completely stomp. You don't need to be ideal to do a speed run. You just need to be good, organized, and efficient. All of those things you can accomplish without the "ideal".

Community is just stupid.

THIS is what players need to start to understand.

"We NEED this setup." No. You don't.
"We NEED a WAR tank." No. You don't.
"We NEED 5 lancers." No. You don't.

Everyone can get DL gear, not everyone cares enough to do it..... so i'm missin your point in that last one. Oh damn, was i sposta be killin myself to get it? I'm good without it.

Ideal classes can be ideal, but people have rejected others from parties unless they use the copypasta strategy jobs, its a sad day. For those of you who will run with whatever jobs are available at the time and still win while everyone plays what they want, well done!

I didn't say you need to be ideal to win, just that when people know better, they want ideal. So "want" becomes "need" and yes, that is wrong, but it doesn't mean the community is "stupid", it simply means they want to increase their chances of success by a margin they feel is acceptable (even if it's just a baseline that they can never quantify).

This argument is old. Let's move on.

I pointed out the phrases where you are totally wrong...what you are talking about is what SHOULD be the case...but it isn't, which is why everyone complains about PLD, cause it doesn't do what you are talking about. It doesn't take less dmg, it's not easier to keep alive. WAR is simple and straight a better PLD without self cures(except Second Wind, Bloodbath, Crit Hits...oh wait, yeah he is even better in that then PLD...)

You are talking about stuff you obviously got no clue about. Did you play PLD at all? Did you play WAR at all? I've been tanking from day 1 I started playing cause it's my prefered role and before this patch, even GLA was better for tanking then PLD...just stop arguing about stuff that's just a plain and simple fact and defending your point of view, when you are wrong and everybody who actually got a clue and plays PLD knows it.

There is no miracle "way of playing" PLD that will suddenly make it awesome, cause he lacks the skills to do so...either he get's buffed, or it won't happen. Un less they fix PLD in general, he will never be the tank you will take over a WAR. Simple fact.

I would prefer playing PLD over WAR, but PLD doesn't get the job done...WAR does...so I'm going with WAR, as long as I can fulfill my role as a Tank that's all that matters to me. But obviously I would prefer tanking on my prefered tanking class...

I'm just gonna quote this war/nin became the flavor of the month when they added ACC food which made multi hit was good for something before all single target skills was best except for on drg who had acc traits which helped them not miss as much.

When your right your right, I never even thought to look to add it Rampart or sent, prolly cuz i was disenguaged about the job once i saw it was built for crowd control on equal to or smaller mobs. Like I said, WAR has its arena in wich to shine, but even b4 this patch , it was not the tank and spank arena. this is compareable to when SE released NINs and people used them to tank. sure was effective but you sacraficed a spot in the party that a better dd would have had otherwise. Each has their pros and cons, but I will challenge any to tank better then me on my PLD , like it or not PLD is built for the job the WAR is attempting to hold. Proof is in the pudding my freind, but i will agree to disagree. subject gets old when both sides repeat the same thing over and over

I know what you were saying lol, I just thought you were making a good ole excuse for the ridiculous mentality of the community. Course now I know you were just offering a reason.

Just to add something:

I made my first 8/8 EXP party the other day. I went PLD with 2 other GLAs. Despite the tankiness, we were still rockin' pretty hard. Very little downtime with good exp (about 45k an hour I think, vs level 40 ants).

No WARs were present in the making of this party. Everyone played what they wanted, and we all had a blast.

As long as I can fulfill my role as a Tank that's all that matters to me. . . . lies. You can fulfill that role on Pld, you choose warrior cuz its easier. If you prefer tanking on Pld, then do it. Even silly vids online have Plds tanking new content with no problems.
