Ah! The 18th century where men weren't afraid to wear tights, heels, wigs and make up. Go back far enough and men used to wear dresses and skirts.

would removing the genderlock suddenly make all male characters who werent already doing so wear big poofy dresses? no
you know why? a lot of the female mogstation outfits arent just poofy dresses. A male au ra in lightnings boots and gloves? sure. A male miqote with kriles hood up? why not?
why is everyone so up in arms about having more options?
I don't have any problem with it morally, I'd just rather they spend resources on other cosmetic aspects. Though Yoshida has stated they're slowly planning to remove some genderlocked outfits starting with the eternal bond dress. Again I'd rather they spend whatever time or resources they have to providing new gender nuetral glamours rather than going back and removing genderlocked glamours.
Rather than making snow's coat wearable by male and females, make another actual good coat so that the only two good coat designs aren't the field commander's and bodyguard coats. That sort of thing.
"Oh no i can't use that costume which is only for males/females"
Legit, males have as many exclusive costumes to them as females.
Deal with it.
And NPC costumes are NPC costumes, they are meant to be worn by the gender the NPC is and why would that need to change, i think it's fine let's not give the devs some unessescairy work because 2 people on the entire planet earth want to use one of the costumes for the opposite gender.
I've always been of the opinion genderlocking is a dumb move. I don't care if it's "only two people", people should be allowed to wear what they want. However at this point I'm not sure the devs will be doing much about it.
You have entirely missed my point. I am not arguing about being serious or are you pulling things from the air? I'm arguing form. Those bottoms fit him because they were designed for a male form. The top fits his chiseled chest. Female Au Ra hempen camise is similar design wise, but it is meant for them. The Eden maternity dress for DPS fits both genders because it isn't conforming to a single body shape. And that is what I am trying to get through your skull.
I’m all for more options but I think I’d rather have them do the easy unlocks first. Like the crafter and gatherer gear. Such as the Ala Mhigan Coat of Gathering. Or the Miner’s Shirt.
This is incorrect. There are still plenty of outfits ingame that have "female-only" versions while the "male" version is usable by both males and females.

You seem to be confusing two different issues.
One is whether the "real" clothing piece is designed to fit on a male or female body. In reality there's nothing to actually stop someone from wearing clothes not tailored to their body shape.
For equipping gear in the game, it's a separate issue. The clothes are the body. If the developers have not made a model of a female body wearing a particular shirt, female characters cannot "equip" it (ie. switch out their torso and arms for one that has the shirt built into it).
Female characters could wear the Southern Seas Vest if a model is made for it. Men can wear a wedding dress if (or apparently when) a model is made for it. Until then, it literally does not exist for them.
Once it is made, it will fit them. Because it will be - inherently has to be - modeled for them.
Whether they look good in it is another issue, but that's something that permeates the entire game and fashion choice in general.
(No doubt the "will it look good?" / "will people wear it?" question dictates whether they put the effort into modeling it for both genders in the first place, but it's still a separate issue to whether it fits the body shape it's been modeled for.)
