I zone in to Gubal Library (Normal) and see you, tank, in ilevel 120 ironworks and vendor-bought accessories (also 120). Oh great.

But then, a sparkle of hope: "One second, forgot my updated gear!"

So you should have a Vault set on you, right? Aery? Okay, you're probably levelling an alt class; I can make do with vendor-bought 139/145. That's totally fine.

What I don't expect is your "updated gear" to be two left side pieces from the Aery. That's it. You have maybe 1k HP more than the SAM, and your weapon is 120, too. But you don't seem to see any problem in me spamming Adlo/Lustrate while the two DPS rip off of you in seconds.

... sigh.

Hmmm... would probably depend on his attitude.
If he responds well to "hey you should use AoE skills for packs" and "you really should go do your job quest ASAP after this", then I'd give him a chance, and if he doesn't hold the group back beyond that (mechanics are still handled OK etc), I wouldn't kick him outright. But would still stress the importance of up-to-date gear and having all his skills, and that groups would be well within their rights to kick him if he doesn't fix the problem.
If his attitude were anything worse than that, say hello to Mr. Boot.

I have found this attitude quite often, lately.

I remember running Castrum while leveling on my DPS jobs. We had some new players around. Last boss, I typed "Reload all 4 cannons, use an AoE regen in the center and fire, that way all adds will gather in the center so we can kill them without having to run around like headless chikens. Then repeat again and we're done!" one of the DPS (who wasn't new) started to make fun of me, telling the people about quantum physics and being extremely precise or we would get banned, etc, etc, mocking me with false compliments because I wanted to do an strat on a facerolleable content. Which I agree, it's pretty facerolleable but... what was the need of being such an a**hole? Sometimes, these "casual" players are the most toxic people you can find.

The last person who said that to me got the answer of "be glad I don't pay your sub because if I did, not only would I cancel it, I'd sling your computer out of a window and ban you from the internet."
Or at least I would say that - it hasn't actually come up yet (but I live in hope) and I generally pretend I'm in a squadron run when doing daily roulettes. And if any drama is occurring I stay silent and go to my happy place (which is generally aided by a bottle of wine).

Just came out of a trials roulette...we cleared, but wow, I am astounded. The WHM in the group gets a stack marker before the sword phase. For some reason, they took Susano's pushback near me, and so they were on my side when they got the stack marker (I am a PLD). For whatever reason, they stopped short of me - I wasn't chasing them, I have Susano to deal with. They never passed me to get to the party...nothing. They just stopped...and died.

I'm not gonna die with you, WHM.

So while I'm getting ready to grab the sword, the WHM asks what they're supposed to do.

Seriously? How did you get past Baelsar's Wall and not know what to do with the stack marker? Or the first two SB dungeons? So me being snarky ol' Kaiva, I said 'It's a stack marker...what do you think you do?'

Sure, my heals were slow after that and I actually had to go into Shield Oath, but...I don't regret what I said.

They kicked them for long periods of silence only to get a reply on something on the lines of "why are your questioning my gear"

This time I got a PLD in i270 right side and a RDM that hardcasts Verthunder and Veraero in Drowned City of Skalla. Some days I often wonder if at a young age I may have been victim to a gypsy curse.

^ Haha, I had something not quite as bad two nights ago, but still pretty bad. I decide to go White Mage for the first time in two months, and I end up with a Dragoon in Skalla that did less DPS than I do against single target bosses (which is to say really awful considering I'm no raid-tier healer or anything). He kept dropping every mechanic on every other party member too.

I'm like, yeah, this is why I switched to full time Bard. At least the tanks and healers won't suffer with me around.

I just covered a healer, who was happy to take aoe damage from the boss and that instant killed me. :f
With the great power comes great responsibilities i guess.
