Also of note, Yoshi-P outright stated that Hrothgar was the race they WANTED to make (yes, this stings as a Viera supporter, but what're you gonna do?) so the whole "wouldn't be popular" thing is kind of moot. The devs will make the races they WANT to make, HOW they want them.
Also, funny how Viera has been described as "Elezen done right" while it's been joked/stated that Hrothgar decimated the Male Roe population. Those are both in the "least popular gender/race combo" list and even then, Hroth surpasses Roegabros. Little more fuel to the "devs will design as they please" thing. -

They should’ve just made hrothgar a full race instead of adding genderlocks in 2019. That way maybe they wouldn’t actually be limited on headgear and hair and they could focus on viera for next expansion. I support people that want female Hrothgar and Male Viera. We are used to getting both genders for every race so it makes sense they want that to be the case for both.
However, they should first focus on pre-existing races, particularly the recent ones. Vieras haven't gotten a single hairstyle since 5.0, as of now the priorities need to be shifted on what's attainable for both races before they commit and divert more resources for the other two genders, potentially creating the same scenario as it currently is. -

Also ... cost? Let's do some thinking. Why do you add in a new race? To add diversity/ variety and make the game more appealing to a larger audience. Numbers wise when SHB came out the number of players jumped up. Of the males only Male Roe took a small drop in numbers because of Hrothgar, every other race's male numbers went up because the number of people playing went up. For females though? EVERY race's female numbers dropped regardless of the massive increase in players. This tells you that numerous Hrothgar are new to the game whereas many Viera are people who already played this game and converted. This was literally the reason they were added, Hrothgar were added to draw in Western MMO fans that like Beast Races/ non-weeb-s^^^ (AKA, WoW players) and Viera were added to please people who already play.
Tis why they're a success no matter how you look at it.
2 years of however many 10s of 1000s of new players playing this p2p game because of Hrothgar is pretty worth to SE. If all they wanted to do was sell potions to the player base all they would have to do is make a 3rd human Clan for half elezens where they're just Meddies with Elezen ears and maybe cleaner faces and nothing else. Boom, I could easily see 50k half elezen girls running around.
I'mma stop you right there, we have no clue what they would do with female Hrothgar and given the last full race they made and the general backlash to the head/ hair options they've gotten it's completely with in reason to think that they may go a different, more conventionally human looking direction for the females. And even if they do make them furry, everything in this game and how they design females points to the devs making them as attractive as possible with w/e design goal they have in mind.Quote:

If they decided to make female furries to appeal to other WoW players that don't like to play human looking races then so be it, I'm sure much like the males they will find decent popularity in the roster and bring in people who don't currently play. -

However, the point about them making more money out of it is the one I am putting into question. It doesn't necessarily follow that they will and we don't even know if they have when their considerable costs are factored in. This goes for female Viera too but their figures were considerably better at 12% and then 8-9% of the playerbase. People can speculate as to whether or not they did, but without any figures on the matter, we don't know, and as a simple matter of logic, it isn't always going to be the case.Quote:
