Actually some did. As it got closer people got better deals on the web... Some were selling for like 20 bucks... Some people paid early over recent and did kinda get screwed on the money end.

Add me to this of those denied access to my preferred NA server. Can access an alternate one but I've invested a lot of time in my character on Hyperion and prefer not to have to go through all of what I've accomplished again.

I think when I bought the collector's edition, that counts as extra. I'm wondering why they didn't limit the number of early access codes like so many other places would have.

No, still wrong. Whatever someone paid, they didn't pay EXTRA to access the game early. Early access comes standard for anyone who buys the game, they never offered a bundle with Early Access as an extra price.

There are people who have been waiting a long ass time to play and they're locked out while others are enjoying the game. These people playing probably left their character logged in while they go off to run errands or do other RL things while the rest of us have been trying to log in to play. This is not right. Why TF don't they just take down the servers and go withdraw money from their corporate accounts to invest in getting more servers? Separate NA players from EU players. SE's twitter accounts posting the same shit over and over, links that don't even open.

IDGAFF if this is launch, or that other MMOs experience the same troubles. This should be known issues that these companies should fkn anticipate. I have been trying to be patient with this, but my patience has worn thin. I don't think it's fair that some ppl get to play while the majority doesn't. This shit isn't right at all. Whether EA is a "bonus" or not, it was advertised that people who preorder this game will be able to have access to the game prior to their official launch. The fact that SE don't seem to communicate to their fans/supporters/customers is a slap in the face. Those of you who have been sitting in the forums all day kissing SE's ass and telling everyone to stop whining can go suck a big dick. If you don't want to see whining then GTFO the forums. We all have a right as customers/players/fans/supporters to voice our frustration and concerns for a company we're investing our time and money in.

This shit is ridiculous. I am totally displeased with how SE has been handling this disaster. Betas were short and limited. They waited last minute to fully test their servers. Piss poor planning. And not to mention their obvious preference for their JP player base.

Again maybe people were worried that they would limit preorder early access and ran out and preordered earlier than usual... Again the game got cheaper the closer to launch.

You are aware that they are fully capable of seeing how many preorders they received, right? What they should have done is not allowed purchases after the early access started to actually receive early access themselves. Really doesn't make any sense because assuming they aren't as inept as many people think at this point, why would a company want to be surprised by extra players during early access that they had no clue were going to exist. They would only theoretically have an hour or so that it took to DL the game for those extra people to figure out that servers were going to overflow, every time another copy was bought. It's just poor planning on their part, and while other games had their problems, none had such a large portion of their playerbase effectively told to go do something else til it gets fixed.

Also, could be worth noting, I've been doing other things all weekend. Every hour or two I'd come check to see if I could get in, but it's always the same world is full bullshit assuming the servers even show up at all. This is a horrific fail bey SE.

Pre-order to get head start, more like pre-order to get headache. Why Square-Enix fail so hard in customer service in NA? because they hired all idiots!

I understand what you are TRYING to say, but what I AM saying is that no one, no one at all, paid EXTRA money aside from the game, be it regular or digital or collectors, for Early Access. There are a load of people who think that they have paid an extra fee to play early.

Pretty amazing at how bad this is.. My friend whom I hate was spot on and he has less information than Square Enix yet he called all of these fails down to the T

At first when people compared WoW's launch 8 years ago and this one, I said WoW's was worst because even though instance servers were broken, the rest of the game worked well. Now, after over 12h of a majority of players unable to log in the game, I have changed my mind.

I'm not sure if they are locking people out on purpose to work on their instance servers issues or if their login servers are messed up THAT bad, but either way, this is kind of unacceptable considering they knew in advance the traffic they would have to deal with by the amount of registered pre-orders.

I hope we get compensated by more than what we've lost so far, AKA near to 2 days of downtime with these issues and the 4 emergency maintenances.

OH! And they better offer free server transfers to those few servers they locked for character creation. It is not a favor to be able to play with our friends when you play a game, it's the basis of any MMO. We shouldn't have to pay character transfers or reroll even if it is still early in the game.

Check your launcher screens, all NA/EU servers are down starting at 900 PDT and should be back up by 1030 PDT

Meanwhile, everyone on the JP servers is playing and having a good time. At this rate many people should just re-roll and enjoy the fun there. At least you can play and the community is nice.

We divide the EU/NA players first we hit them with wave after wave od the NA troops then during the time people are most likely to be home we send the EU troops for the first hour then after the first hour bam we go all in

I know I feel disgruntled and in dismay, but heres the point i would like to make. I paid for 2 ffxiv copies 1 in 2010 and 1 in 2013 i think SE was smart in releasing the game early so people could get there palettes wet and make millions of dollars but come on don't make people wait lets all play.

Please wait until an opening is available and try again. 1017 I'm already at the top of my patience, it had been the same message all day, since 10:00 AM that I tried to connect and got a different freaking error. All my entire early access time was consumed in freaking errors, because of a lot of freaking DATACENTERS specialists, administrators, technicians, programmers and even the human resources employees that OMG!!!!, someone need to take responsibility on THIS!!! 4 different beta phases for nothing. What happens to the software testing & assurance of FFXIV: ARR? If this was the software used for maintaining the international space station in orbit, it would had been sinking in the pacific ocean by now!!!!! with all the errors that were not expected, that's why TEST ORACLES are so IMPORTANT!!!! and that's just part of the beginning of software testing in the software life cycle MODEL!!!!!

My advice... log in, and never log off. Theres no auto log out timer (yet) and that explains the hundreds of inactives standing around in town sleeping so they can play tomorrow.

EA doesn't have an extra fee over the cost of the game. Doesn't change the fact that the thousands of us who bought 1.0 and were (rightly) horrified with the quality of the product didn't have to buy ARR, but if we did, it was to access EA. No, it's not technically an EA fee, but in reality, thousands of us did pay for EA and EA alone.

I finally got in, but the servers are going down in 9 mins. 6 hours for 10 minutes of gameplay, yay!

Right now at this very time on the internet, I don't even see the servers... NA/EU list is GONE! ...gone in the wind like Garuda! XD

So now that the maintnence is up everybody will just be ready to press the play button after an hour and 30 minutes. Game on.

But still seriously, more servers, free character transfers. Those are literally your only options of fixing this. Or increase capacity by a lot. And also a better queue.

I got to log in! 5 minutes before maintenance starts. :'(
