Maybe this is all just a Bobby Flay Cosplay event?
The dyes were not mogstation exclusive, they were obtainable through retainers (General-purpose versions)
False Mustache is also not mogstation exclusive, if one did the event.
So at least it's not 100% mogstation, but it definitely is giving mogstation as a way.
And we're not 100% sure this is BiS, so pray deeply that other options like Couerl Mask gives same rating.
Both are dyeables too.
I mean, the link I posted above ^ makes it sound like it's BiS! Otherwise I can't imagine why they'd post an apology preemptively.
Personally, I'm fine with most of this stuff, I've been playing since Beta so the dyes and event items aren't a bother. But I can definitely see why new players are the ones questioning why all this stuff is from real money. I'd be upset also, in the same shoes.
As others have pointed out before though: You dont need BiS for every slot to get a decent reward (or even the "best" reward, aka maximum MGP) each week. Get the achievment once and you're done with a 100% BiS - and you can wait with that til its a week when you do have most pieces and maybe even the dyes, from ventures, at hand already.
People seem obsessed with getting 100 points every week and I dont get it...
I do get the involvment of glamouritems like the False Mustache or even something like the need of having a Lucis-Tool though - if they'd limit the Fashion Report to all those easly obtained items, figuring out the clues would become very boring very fast. So I can see why they would draw from every piece of gear we have in the game - including those that you cant get if you havent done the event back in the days.
BiS is not needed to "win" here - I would agree thats a bit fishy and annoying when it comes to rare dyes though, but even for those there are cheaper options. If you're okay with not reaching the 100 every week.
I'm only half trying to defend this btw - I'm more urging everyone whos upset about this, to look at the whole thing and relax about it. Its a minigame that you can win with a score of 80+ points. And that can be achieved by not spending any real money and probably without spending a lot of gil aswell.
My motivation is weirder. I want it to be easier for people to get points, even better if BiS, from items that can be traded. It gives a life to a section of market board which is quiet. I'm just excited of all the trading and speculative buying/selling that's going on, and I'd hate to see it die down because the items are hard to get or p2w so people lose motivation and not bothering w fashion report.
I'm already seeing less speculative buying/selling this week in my server, although part of it is because most of our guesses are untradables.
I do. I enjoy playing the game to the absolute best of my ability. In every other aspect of the game that means either patience, working towards it, practise or other things I can accomplish with my own time. Mogstation items mean you have to pay to win. Or, you have to be content with a lesser score with the possibility that the Boutique items, like the spriggan set, being unlocked by accumulative points. If you can't get 100 the weeks others can then you could possibly be weeks behind. If that's the case then yeah, not being able to obtain 100 without paying for it becomes an
Well, let's see.
General-purpose dyes are obtainable in game.
It looks as though they weren't intending a best in slot item to be Mogstation only, since it was reported as a known issue.
Got all gold undyed with this outfit, so it looks to be BIS:

Dyes added to get 100 points:
Main Hand: Chantico Lucis (Raisin Brown)
Head: False Mustache (Charcoal Gray)
Body: Galleymaster's Whites or Augmented Galleykeep's Whites (Dark Brown)
Hands: Werewolf Arms (Wine Red)
Legs: Survival Halfslops (Raisin Brown)
Feet: Any dyeable (Raisin Brown)
Right Ring: Master Culinarian's Ring
Mogstation items..... Am i the only one that feels an invisible hand on my back, trying very gently to bend me over? :/ And im not crying over the actual money, as a person that owns a great deal of mog items. Its the fact that i feel forced to spend which is very agitating. On the actual subject of the fashion report, has anyone found a replacement for the fake moustache even for less than the gold?
http://i65.tinypic.com/2l3zgy.jpg
Linen survival halfslops also give you gold but being a non dyed item, it can't give you 100 points if you are aiming for that.
For those trying out dyes these colors which i use seems to be a dud
Main Hand: Metallic Silver
Head: Snow White
Body: Soot Black
Hands: Snow White
Feet: Dark Red
Unless you're blind or not reading what anyone else says, you would know that so many people feel the same way as you. But what you and all those others keep forgetting is that all these items are "event" items. Not Mogstation items. The game is rewarding people who were loyal to the game for years and did the old season events every few weeks. The key word being few because the last 2 weeks there were 0 event items. So if you feel "forced" to spend, then don't spend and aim for 100 on one of those weeks that don't use event items.
It feels like this thread needs every 3rd post talking about Mogstation while ignoring the fact that the dyes are available in game, event items were given out for free during their events and there is no one forcing you to get 100 points.
Here are +2 colors (correct category, but not BiS) for the non-weapon slots:
Head: ash grey +2
Body: sunset orange +2
Hands: dalamud red +2
Legs: cream yellow +2
Feet: cream yellow +2
I also posted on reddit: https://redd.it/7zmeoj
so this is a biiiit off topic? but you can get the shirt from this week... somehow.
but i've not gotten it. i failed the first one due to not understanding there were limited tries and just... trying everything. and i can't do this one, because i don't feel like making 90 more culinarian items, which is a huge money/time sink, along with leveling 7 more levels. so i've failed two. and not gotten the shirt, like how i unlocked everything else despite failing the first one.

i've managed to get into the 80s with the dyes [i don't have the right shirt or ring], but still no shirt in the boutique.... ; ^ ;
so its probably cumulative, and not just participation. a friend of mine hasn't gotten 80 this week, but still has a shirt. she did fine on all the rest of them. so despite having won the same amount of fashion reports, she has the unlocks where as i don't. which means her cumulative score must just be a fraction higher, or my game is busted.
Guys, don't aim close to 100 every week unless you know you have everything to get exactly 100 points. You only need to reach it once. For every other time just use the cheaper dyes of the correct color family and wear the cheapest BiS only. A few thousand MPG is not worth spending millions of gil or real money.
93 points with:
Chantico Lucis - Metallic Silver
False Mustache - Goobbue Grey
Galleymaster’s whites - pumpkin orange
Werewolf Arms - Wine Red
Survival Slops - Milloncorn Yellow
Feet - Milloncorn Yellow
Master Culinarian’s Ring
Valentione's apron is 1 star, expeditioner's pantalettes is 1 star, and the Saint's Beard is 1 star (3 star dyed charcoal grey) as well.
Edit: Handmaster's Ring is 1 star. Was looking for an alternative for people without the CUL achievement, but no dice.
someone on reddit already got 100 points.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...0220/?sort=new
Main Hand: Chantico Lucis (Raisin Brown)
Head: False Mustache (Charcoal Grey)
Body: Augmented Galleymaster's Whites (General-purpose Dark Brown)
Hands: Werewolf Arms (Wine Red)
Legs: Survival Halfslops (Raisin Brown)
Feet: Any dyeable (Raisin Brown)
Right Ring: Master Culinarian's Ring
Got 100 w/ this setup:
- MH: Chantico Lucis-Raisin Brown
- Head: False Mustache-Charcoal Grey
- Body: Galleymaster's Whites-General Purpose Dark Brown
- Hands: Werewolf Arms-Wine Red
- Legs: Survival Halfslops-Raisin Brown
- Feet: Expeditioner's Thighboots-Raisin Brown
- Ring: Master Culinarian's Ring
Budget set, got me 81 points. The beard is a 2-star item without the dye so you may be able to swap it for something else. Having either the mustache or werewolf gloves should be enough, but having neither probably requires the BiS ring. Any frying pan without dye should give the same rating.
Augmented Galleyking's Frypan
Saint's Beard, Charcoal Grey
Augmented Galleykeep's Whites, Chocolate Brown (425 red scrips)
Werewolf Arms, Wine Red
Extreme Survival Slops, Raisin Brown (craft these with mostly vendor mats)
any boots, Raisin Brown
any ring

Has there been any week without a 60+ BiS item?
Not yet, and we don't know what was the 1st week's 100pt combo.
Pride and loss of bragging rights will continue to make people turn a deaf ear to what you say. I will continue crafting in the corner and joining market speculation to take the gils off them ;)
Anybody come up with a solution to get 80+ with DoW or DoM? If not I might be screwed on this one.
For now the only cul items people tried is body and ring, and head is not for everyone.
Vintage chef apron is only 2* unfortunately. The linen/survival halfslops and and the arms should be easier to match.
Also here is my prediction. We'll be bouncing back n forth between DoW/DoM and DoH/DoL every week. So next week, BiS should be DoM/DoW. Further speculation would be a 4 week rotation between DoM/DoL/DoW/DoH, adjust for the fact that we only have 3 DoL, but somewhere along those lines.
someone on reddit found a combination that gives at least 80 points on NIN. I would assume it needs just minor tweaking for other DoW classes. Scroll down the posts a bit to find it :)

all the cheap dark brown dye is gone on the mb... doh. should have stayed up lol
You can use the permalink for specific post ;) But that post should be thumbed up quite a bit soon~
Also, alternative setup without Survival Halfslops and Dark Brown dye
Always.. At this point we might as well hoard all the general-purpose dyes, no kidding.
ah I didn't know about the permalink! (I'm still a reddit noob lol XD) thanks for the tip :)
The Chimerical Felt Doublet of Crafting and Patrician's Coat both only give 1 star, regardless of dye
I saw someone on Reddit use the Archaeoskin Jackcoat of Crafting get two stars.
Alternative items I've seen other people use and get more then 1 Star:
Head
Werewolf Ears - 3 Stars
Iron Sallet - 3 Stars
Body
Archaeoskin Jackcoat of Crafting - 2 Stars
Linen Smock - 3 Stars
Artisan's Apron - 4 Stars
There is no point to get 100 points once you get the achievement. Even getting 80+ will yield the 50k bonus mgp reward. So no one needs to feel like they have to bend over for the MogStation dyes/items or spend millions of gil each week. Don't do that to yourselves lol
