Indeed, but he was asking about the glamor crystals while referencing the repair materials to frame the question.

The inventory system really is getting insane and should be a high priority for the dev team. Increased space isn't a solution at this point as much as an overdue correction for the addition of new jobs. It should have been done for rings at the very least with 3.0, expanded armor chest space is honestly 2 years late to the game.
OP's suggestions are all good, but imo some of them are absolutely essential and should be singled out.
1. Currencies and tokens going to the currency tab or a unique storage like crystals currently do. I understand that there's a lot of tokens now and hoarding is a problem, but every duty and weekly quest contributes to the problem and it just blows up too fast without some kind of fix.
2. A glamour book. It needn't be accessible everywhere, even in just inn rooms at first is fine, but when F2P MMOs can do this it's very disappointing to get lame excuses about how we have to buy storage space on top of our subscription.
3. A fishing box. Fishing is a disaster for inventory. Culinarian is almost as bad, but housing made culinarian much more bearable since we can craft next to a basic material seller and our retainers now making cooking less inconvenient
The other changes would also be nice, but it's less of a problem as long as we get the fixes above.
I'm not sure if it's been suggested or not, but perhaps it would be a viable short-term fix to create NPC's that sell ALL ARR and HW mats. This would at least mean crafters need not hoard materials outside of those for the current expansion. It would be relatively easy to implement and have none of the drawbacks SE seems to be worried about regarding the other suggested(and better) solutions.
I could see how they wouldn't want to do that since making at least some old mats relevant in the economy keeps old zones alive forBLM botsfarming.
Yoshida does not seem to see glamour as a big deal. BUT then they keep adding more and more glamour rewards for the events, more glamour-only items for crafters and more glamour items in the shop. LOL!
Also to add they should have and long overdo, allowed maps to be stacked (and other items) but i have a good source that says they are not.
if you mean "have retainer sell to vendor" yeah. i haven't glammed in ages. Seriously, my MCH is levelling right now and the armor is so mismatched i look like a 3 year old dressed me. so, i don't need to go through any trade process to get more. I have a stack of generic ones. so, dump on vendor is what i mean. ;)
Uh don't they do this already? That's what the beast tribes sell, likewise the guild NPC's sell materials for their guild.
I'd actually rather all crafting materials not be sold by any NPC. Farm it if you need it, buy it from the market if you don't want to farm it. But don't just put it on a NPC, otherwise you have no incentive to use the market.
The Beast Tribe quests were actually the great compromise here because you couldn't just go to them and buy stuff for gil, you had to earn their trust by doing their silly fetch quests, and that opened up more rare things.
I am going to go out on a limb and say you have played other MMO's. What is the problem with Heavensward crafting compared to other MMOs? That directly leads to item bloat. They refuse to tier off crafting. By tier I mean ARR mats are for only ARR HW's mats are only for HW's and SB only for SB. If they did this then the npc would A) be fine since people don't need old mats or B) pointless since people don't need old mats. This game does not need to shove old content down our throats at every turn.
Lol, not enough space increase. I only have 2 retainers and all jobs 60 and manage to have well more than enough space going into SB. Space really isn't a problem. Them adding more space is an awesome bonus!
Do the math for the level 60 GC turn ins, anima weapons, and off tab currency. Just because you play less of the game why would you come here and let everyone know?
Also what I think when I see this post. http://i.imgur.com/3LiXaSX.png
How do you know what I do and don't do in the game? I could buy every glamour item I want in the game and fill my inventory with fish and ores and whatnot. I could also buy more retainers with RL money and fill them up with useless junk too. It's about priorities and item management. And I proved my point by saying what I said.
That is not what selfish/not selfish means.
Selfish: I don't have this problem, ergo it is clearly not a problem.
That's great that you have enough space. I happen to have enough too (though I do pay for 1 extra retainer), but I don't sit here and basically tell everyone who DOES have a space problem they are either lying or exaggerating.
Great post OP! Great solutions to many of the problems. It has lead to some very good discussion too!
Definition of selfish: "Concerned chiefly with one's own personal profit or pleasure."
I'm content with what I'm being given in SB, thus not the definition of selfish.
Those begging for more after what they are given, exactly the definition of selfish.
I'm not telling anyone that they are lying or exaggerating anything either. I'm saying that they shouldn't be complaining when there is something they can do about it, since it is clearly feasible, like with my character, to empty out a whole character's inventory plus 1 of the 2 retainers inventory before SB even hits.
I am confused you proved what? You proved that you know that the game has lots of item based game play and you don't do it and you are awesome for it? A lot of the suggestions are not even about more space but SE better planning and implementing game features. Any one can add 12 more crystals for a weapon. But some one who has seen that they have a finite amount of space would probably think of something else. But woohoo keep being awesome

You don't like to read, do you? Like I asked you before, how do you know what I do and don't do? Would you like screenshots of my achievements and inventory? I was merely commenting on what the OP's thread topic was about and what he stated many times through his original post about not enough inventory space even with the SB inventory increase.
My English proficiency isn't exactly great, but I believe the word you're looking for in this context is greed/greedy instead of selfish.
Firstly we (generally used for those agreeing with the OP) didn't claim that that this problem affect ALL the players nor is it game-breaking, more like being a major PITA. Next, we clearly state how this issue come about and suggested multiple logically feasible methods (which might not be easy to implement) to tackle said problem. Because you know, making a constructive discussion and stuff? Lastly, if you even bother to read through the proposed solutions, you should be able to noticed that the majority of them are actually ways to divert the inventory problem rather than outright increasing the slots only.
So are we greedy? Perhaps? But we did at least make it clear WHAT is the issue, HOW it came about, and WHAT might be the possible solution to deal with said issue.
And then you came along;
Just declaring the topic as a non-issue simply because you aren't affected by it. Yup, I call that being selfish. (Oh, I forgot to state my gratitude to the programming team for the increment of inventory space, it's probably not easy upgrading the structure to accommodate it.)
Well if you are so accomplished and completing multiple things daily why would you yap that the game inventory/itemization is adequate? Someone as accomplished as yourself wouldn't spout off that every thing is fine. Now if you just ment we need to see SE direction going forward on how they work different aspects of the game and the increase might be ok. Yes you can be a glass half full person. If so this is the internet you need to be clearer.
It is just SE has not given any direction that they have looked into past issues. They did mention a housing item storage I actually have a full retainer (ok2/3) of seasonal items that I can not put up since they have no housing. They also removed the way to buy past items except for cash. So throwing them away would mean I would need to give SE more money on top of my sub. What if the system is working fine right now should I do with that?
I believe there's the saying, "admitting your weakness is the first step to self-improvement" or something along that line? But yeah, still working on it.
You might want to take your own advice, for all you know that might be the alt account of Moonlite. Even putting that aside, I dare say many, including myself, have what you mentioned earlier. So what's next? Just throw away everything? To make space just for the sake of making space?
I was able to check Moonlite's account and saw two characters. Both aren't even close to having all level 60s. It's possible that Moonlite has 2 different Square Enix IDs and is choosing to use that one to post. I doubt it, but the world may never know.
If you're happy with full inventory, then by all means be happy with it. In a few days we will be getting more, so that's good. There is the option of buying more retainers. I'm not interested in that personally, but some may be. Another option is to sell extra things or discard things that you will never use again. It's about prioritizing and management. Need to do the exact same thing in real life when you own a house. (Can't have mounds of newspapers stacked to the ceiling.)

Even a duty finder for you under private. Which proves nothing. Someone who has never played the game can see the game has an item problem. But

I acknowledge that they are hardcore hoarders out there that will keep every single item that come across their path regardless if it's a glamour item they never used in years or just random junk mob X dropped, but there's a limit to how much inventory management that can be done. Sure, you can sell/dump crafting mat that you won't be using often even if they are locked behind time node, you can trade in/vendor/toss glamour gear that you haven't been using for a long time, you can desyn/vendor/toss that furniture that no longer match your housing new theme, but where do you drew the line?
Will you throw away a piece of glamour that you finally obtain after doing 50~100 runs of a particular instance? Will you vendor a seasonal furniture that can no longer be obtain in game even if the event come around next year? Will you discard said seasonal furniture and pay for it at a (imo) steep price on the kupo store the next time you wish to use it? (Hell, sometimes even if you're willing to pay the price, you will still be locked behind an undefined amount of time.) Will you discard a glamour item you brought from the kupo store and be punished (in terms of hogging inventory slot) for a lack of better system even after supporting them financially on top of the sub? Will you toss an out-of-game event (fan feast/7-11/Amazon/rip EU players) exclusive gear that can never be re-obtain, ever? (Well, they might add it to the kupo store a couple of years later)
Long story short, there's a tons of things that (imo) shouldn't, ever be discarded which is eating into your inventory space. They are growing in numbers gradually and I don't think that we players should be punished for it. In fact, I believe SE has noticed these issues as well and are coming up with different ways to deal with them (making achievement gears that can't be stuff into the armoire re-purchaseable via NPCs, putting up some basic crafting mats and furniture on the vendor NPC's menu, etc), but it doesn't seem to be enough yet. And these are what we had been discussing in this thread. I agree inventory management is important, but there's only so much it can do to help.
I'm not against more inventory, again I was just pointing out it is possible and by all means easy to have plenty of inventory space on a character with only 2 retainers with all jobs to 60. (I've also got all my relic weapons still on a retainer because they can't go in the FC gear chest. I probably would never do anything with them again, so it's not like I throw away everything, but I find ways to make lots of room. Priorities and management.)
Stop trying to do everything, and work with you're FC or LS, and then you will have much space. ^^ fixed!
(Oo and if someone say .. "Well I'm a solo player" ...well oo well get over it, you picked to be a solo player with no friends)
We been though this, Having all 60 does not mean anything, having all crafters at 60 does not mean you truly craft. Having BTN/MIN/FISH? at 60 does not mean you truly gather. Trying to do cul and fish alone is very taxing to space, let alone everything else on top of that. Your brd, the one shown on load stone, that is not a glam. The people that think there is no issues are the ones that do not make full use of the game. If they are going to give us the ability to be all jobs on one character, they need to give space for that. Just because you do not care about glams, or giving each job a different glam does not mean others follow the same play style.
It is not enough because we are basically getting the same thing we had at 50 but with a ton more jobs, the "extra space" they are given us is the bare minimum to remain functional. we NEED!!< read NEED! are armory to be double the amount of what we have for jobs esp when they are role locking the right side, making rings a more even pain then we have currently. Armory space we should be getting is 26x2= 52 slots, so 35 is a joke. If they did not require us to hold onto 2 different weapons for jobs, because weird quests tell us to be on some job, but need trade them a weapon, I would back down from the job x 2 thing but with the game requires? yeah plus people like a few different sets to walk around in. This game requires a lot of space, and does not give us proper space to fit it. Say a game is needing you to have 50 spots as a requirement to get by , be it meds, or other things, while giving you 100 spots. This game gives you 1500 spots if you buy 8 retainers, but requires 2500, it is not enough room with how this game deals with galms, crafting, gathering and currency that takes space. So this game having 1500 spots is less room then the one giving you 100, because it only requires 50 to do everything you need to do. The point of this is to show why comparing raw number of spots is useless.
Do you the cutter you get trying to do 99 x 9 tokens for the extra nodes? saving x currency for x weeks because of limits and so on?
This.
