In case no one has said this recently, thank you very much for putting this together! Great job!

I received it too after Shale Brown. I just fed it berries again and I am really curious which colour I'll get next. I really hope for Lilac Purple because then this may show that it's a RNG feather proc that sets you on a 'rare' colour in that line.
FC mate had the same with Valfruit and didn't go from Rose Pink to Coral Pink. Also curious to see what the next colour is now.
Maybe it's an RNG bust and it won't let you go to the next step. Who knows!
Your chart is a pretty damn good visual for this. A lot of people find it easier to read than a spreadsheet. I really was hoping that someone would be able to output all the info into something more readable.
I do see a few links in your chart that aren't reported by many users/submitters/players yet though. I hate to do it to ya, but maybe pour over more of the info in the sheet? I'd happily help ^^
I am in Dalamud Red ->Blood Red, but since I saw a board post that indicated that Wine Red was received via Dalamud + Apples, this is what I am trying to do (so I'm not using various fruits + Dalamud at this point). It feels like... I have to get a "success" to move on to the Wine Red, but if it "fails" I get smacked a step backward (Blood Red).
I have a feeling we might see some chocobo coloring fixes with this upcoming hotfix.
Slate Grey too Soot Black Any suggestions?
Going by that chart, I keep skipping over colors. Even when feeding one type of fruit and only getting one feather message.
Going to join the fray here and post each step of my progress from Desert Yellow to Grape Purple (one new feathers message from one fruit type at a time). Hopefully I can help corroborate the findings so far, and if something goes horribly awry, hopefully you'll at least be able to help meh fix it! Just need to wait for these apples to finish growing here now that I've accidentally clicked [Post] instead of [Go Advanced]...
Posting some results
mole brown + 2 O'ghomoro berries > gloom purple
gloom purple + 1 Mamoon Pears > charcoal grey
Yes, trying to get Currant ultimately. Wine Red seems to be a step there. On my spreadsheet, one of the tabs (Lyrical's Chocobo) shows my step by step progress.
Chocobo Color Map/ Planner
Hello, I figured I'd take my stab at creating a google doc to assist others in predicting the color their chocobo will turn out. It is very very basic and not fancy but I believe can be utilized to predict chocobo colors with some accuracy. When you click the document, enter the R,G, and B of your current chocobo color and how many fruit you plan on feeding your chocobo. The link is:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1841660782
The form works by calculating distances between points in 3 dimensional space with minimums and maximums set at 0 and 255, respectively. I treat RED, GREEN, and BLUE as x, y, and z coordinates. As we feed our chocobo different fruits, our position moves around in the space. Every dye that the chocobo can be dyed has a set point in the 3d space, set by the red, green, and blue combination of each dye. As we move, the spreadsheet calculates the distance to the CLOSEST dye.
As we know, feeding each fruit to the chocobo increases/decreases the R, G, and B of your current chocobo color. For this spreadsheet, I use an increase/decrease value of 4. Yes, I know, we don't know the exact science of how a fruit being fed to a chocobo effects the R, G, B, but until we know exactly how SE calculates the effect of each fruit during feeding, this is my estimate.
DISCLAIMERS:
I am basing my calculations on just some assumptions I've read mostly on this forum thread.
The spreadsheet does NOT work well with large numbers of fruit. It does however work well in calculating how, for example, 7 apples will affect your chocobo. Feel free to mess around with the fruit numbers with other peoples experiences to determine its accuracy (or inaccuracy) I use it for when my chocobo says he is growing feathers. I'll enter my current color in up top and then the fruit I entered to help me guess what the result will be. Vice versa, it can be used to estimate if feeding 10 fruit to your chocobo will give you the result you're hoping for.
There is a lot of ironing out to do with the spreadsheet. However, when used in correlation with other spreadsheets created by the members of this forum, it can be useful.
Please feel free to leave comments on the spreadsheet, thank you.
Writing this here for a friend:
Seafog Blue + 1 Berry proc = Peacock Blue
Peacock Blue + 1 Berry proc = Othard Blue
Can someone upload Alinah's newest infographic to imgur? ImageShacks sucks.
As far as I'm concerned, Blood Red IS the Apple Cap. There is no high lvl red color from just Apples. Anyone saying otherwise will need screenshots of their feed from Blood Red.
Blood Red > 100 apples down the gullet... nothing.. absolutely nothing. Dis-proved that rumor.
Going to Dalamud Red overnight. Then it's Valfruit and see what I get.
My Old post with everything recorded on it.
Alright, added a bunch of new links to the OP. If I'm still missing something, please let me know here in the thread. If I somehow missed an experiment you're running or a link that you think people might to be able to easily locate, anything like that, just let me know.
Going to work on putting together a brief summary of what's been learned so far and add that to the OP sometime in the next couple of days as well.
My Google Doc (see the link in the OP under personal experiments) has been updated with information from several ongoing experiments that I'm running, along with some complete ones.
From Desert Yellow, I fed berries til first proc (popped after 3). 6 hrs later I ended up with Gobbiebag brown. Fed berries again until next proc (after 5). Ended up with Ash Grey. I fed berries again (proc popped after 2) before I logged out. I'm hoping for Goobbue Grey.
Interesting. I fed my* bird plums (1 message) to get to Sylph Green and then plums again (1 message) to get to Snow White. I just fed my bird 3 berries, got the feathers message, and inexplicably looped back to Sylph Green. Plums are -red; Berries are +blue. Not exactly what I was expecting. >.>
*This is my alt's bird, Chickyboo, from post 2 in this thread.
eta: Just fed two berries and got the feathers message. Not sure what to expect at this point. Maybe Ash Grey if it decides to follow the color pathway again. <.<
Well as an update I didn't get the colour I expected here either- must have had a HQ proc on the pear or something as instead of Loam Brown I ended up Marsh Green from Shadow Blue. Now fed one berry which according to the image chart leads to Soot Black (although with the way things have been going who knows!). The one berry gave process message.
An update on my observations:
Russet Brown + Berry = Regal Purple
Regal Purple + Valfruit = Rolanberry Red
From my previous post:
Dalamud Red + Berry = Regal Purple
Regal Purple + Berry = Royal Blue
Royal Blue + Pineapple = Regal Purple
Regal Purple + Apple = Dalamud Red
Dalamud Red + Pear = Regal Purple
Regal Purple + Pear = Russet Brown
Proc message not process message- sorry, stupid phone auto correct.
So i'm at Woad Blue any idea how to get soot black or closer?
Ah ha! Thanks, I've been curious about what happens when you feed different fruit after Snow White!
That's been the general consesus for a few days now me thinks?
I don't see my spreadsheet linked ^^
So far from what I can see, the colours are presets with RNG involved. Yes, these presets seem to be based on RGB but it's not exact -at all-.

^ That would be the reason I retested the apple cap.
I am also trying for soot black on an alt's bird. Following the handy dandy chart that was recently updated, I decided to take the apple > berry path towards kobold brown. Feeding only until I got the first feather proc and then letting it sit.
I can confirm the path up to Rolanberry Red, But here's where something went tilt.
I went with a berry feeding again. Expected result was Midnight Blue (yay!) or Royal Blue (not so yay). Instead I got Regal Purple.
I am using a pineapple now to try and get Rolanberry Red back, even though this path was completely unlisted.
Hello fellow breeders and chocobro's! I just got goobbue grey from seven O'Ghomoro Berry stages.
Fed him O'Ghomoro Berries 3 stages to Shale Brown, then 4 more stages got me this nice goobbue grey.
I was trying to get to a dark brown but I guess I went to an unmapped part of the chart I was looking at.

Ok here are my experience so far with your image!
1. Goal = Lotus Pink
Feeding him lots of fruits from another spreadsheet. After 6 hours the chocobo was "snow white" (one before lotus pink).
Second feed we gave him "berries" until the message "grow new feathers" appear and stopped feeding.
Result = Lotus Pink
2. Goal = Apple Green
Feeding him lots of fruits from another spreadsheet. After 6 hours the chocobo was "meadow green" (one before apple green).
Second feed we gave him "plums" until the message "grow new feathers" appear and stpped feeding.
Result = Apple Green
3. Goal = Blood Red
Feeding him "Apples" until 4 times the message "grow new feathers" appear and stopped feeding.
Result = Milloncorn Yellow <-- the first color to blood red from your image but after 4 messages of grow new feathers...
Second feed we gave him more "apples" until 5 times the message appears and stopped feeding.
Resul = ???
So for the third chocobo with goal "blood red" your image could be wrong. The chocobo have already 4 times changed feathers and now 5 more times. We hope now after 6 hours the chocobo is blood red. Maybe there are steps where to stop feeding after 1, 2 or 3 messages?
Might want to use any image host besides imageshack for an image so large. imgur and pomf being good choices.
Realchucky,
I've had a few guildies having that issue with the apples as well, some doesn't change, some do, some jump, some don't, it seems very odd.
So what I think is that you can't fully count your way to a color though the feather proc, it might just be that it is a repeatable message simply stating it'll still change color from the original basically just repeating itself. And if you switch fruit (in one feed) it will start where you landed with the first fruit you fed, and it wont say the message untill you hit an other color.
Example:
start: desert yellow
1 apple - no message
2 apples - message appears, changes from desert yellow to millioncorn yellow
3 apples - message appears, changes from desert yellow to millioncorn yellow
4 apples - message appears, changes from desert yellow to millioncorn yellow
Now you'ld think you're at pumkin/bloodred and feed it berries.
1 Berry - no message
2 berries - message appears, changes from millioncorn yellow to XXXXX (Dunno which color you get by that tbh, probably like Halatali Yellow :P)
3 berries - message appears, changes from millioncorn yellow to XXXXX
You think you're a Rolanberry Red or Regal Purple but when you take your chocobo out it's XXXXX instead.
It's just what I would think.
Sometimes people get a feather proc aswell but nothing happens, which is also very odd.
From what I've noticed you can either feed your chocobo a ton of apples for the next red shift, or feed it a few apples and either a few berries or something to trigger it sooner. I did that a few times where I'd be at 10+ feedings and nothing happened, gave it a berry and boom. Then checking this thread I've seen people say they took 14-18+ apples for whatever change I was on then.
I'd say it's probably easier to get to dalamud or rolanberry red through blue/purple shades since they're more straightforward
I just went straight across the RGB scale from yellow to white, no problem, just from a few berries.
I get the feather message just from one berry too. Maybe it's his favourite food now.

I've landed at the same conclusion. Mass feeding may get to a 'cap'. Plus, it stands to reason that since there is an RNG feather proc that makes you skip ahead, that there would be an RNG bust. Maybe even an RNG feather proc that sets you back?
I also think we should let go of this RGB tweaking notion. I'm more and more leaning towards presets with RNG elements.
My theories are HERE.

I have updated the text according to what you've said Snootles, this one is better resolution aswell, uploaded by imgur.
What I've seen as well from your data snootles is that several of the food evens out each other, Plums seems to have brought people back a color several times after feeding berries, pineapple and apple, which seems kinda odd. Can it be that plums evens out all 3 of those fruits?
You also said I missed to add something from your data, I only found the morbol green one, can you pinpoint me to which others I'm missing? :)
Also heads up, I'm going on holiday on Friday for 10 days so I wont be able to do any updates for 10 days after Friday.
Alinah, can you put the grey in that I reached to please?
