The game has too many one-shot mechanics imo (which isnt a good design per-se).
2) im not playing the game anymore, i had a longer sub, but it gets worse with every patch - so does the community (imo that is).
I miss the people from my FC but that is all i miss at the moment.
I think the main reason why people cannot clear the harder content is:
- they never learned their job - everything before coil and primals - including ALL dungeons- is a joke
they are not given a chance to learn the job since people expect you to know it and get angry... etc. etc.
- The biggest enemy in primals and fights in general is lag. Some might not have the problem. i know how to deal with it. it still sux to move into an ongoing circle... knowing that its acutally already done. and ARR is the worst mmo in that matter ive ever played.
- the community in ARR is extremely bad, nobody wants to help you/or others - some exceptions, but too few.
- there is no "in-between-content". Faceroll, or evade or die. (beat the lag-boss that is)
oh and ... "hours of hours... " is an exaggeration.

I got something to say! If your a gamer, casual/hardcore, your basicly wasting your own time or killing it because in the real world, the only people being productive are the people making the money from you- the gamer.

Well, here is my view on guides and videos, I use guides under certain circumstances, 1. if I'm utterly stuck and tried everything I can think of and still fail, 2. after I beat the game and got the story done then I try to get all the (extra goodies, easter eggs, ect.) 3. if I completed it and forgotten, now with that said my Wife and I was doing t2 (of which we have cleared before) she was a scholar and was told never use physick but use ONLY succor at the last boss, well the last boss came she use succor till she had no mp used aetherflow and cast 1 physick and was accused of using only physick, so one of the other members said she was being a b**** even tho she ran out of mp before the other scholar, next attempt we passed it with 1 tank afking till auto boot and got the replacement just before fighting the boss.

I personally find nothing wrong with doing content without researching it. I don't, because I approach the game as a game and not a job and I tend to learn better from trying and failing than just having something explained to me. Plus, experiencing something brand new is very exciting, as opposed to personally re-enacting a video I've seen.
While I do think that it's completely reasonable for people to post a PF for people who have at least done research, when you hit the point of having to use the DF you can't reasonably expect everyone to meet your criteria for knowing a fight all the time. I mean if everyone had the same social knowledge that I find acceptable there would be no jerk elitists in any server, ever. Just like with researching every instance before you ever try it, it is unreasonable and so I just have patience and understand that not everyone meets your standards and that's just something you have to deal with, and just have to make the best of it however you can.

To the OP, considering some guide videos are 15 minutes long do you really expect people to break down the salient points of the encounter for you all the while eating in to the raid timer? This is only compounded by the fact you were a tank and as such form arguably the most important role in most encounters.
While you can approach an encounter any way you like solo, or in a private party with the agreement of friends, it's completely unacceptable and selfish going in to Party Finder expecting 7 other people to nursemaid you.

If you do not have access to the video material for w/e reason that's fine, but... come on lol people put their time and effort into producing these videos FOR gamers just like you that have no idea what they are getting into. I'm not even a hardcore gamer. ANYTIME I am about to do an instance or a dungeon, I look it up to see what I am getting myself into.
It at least mentally prepares you for what to expect. Most people can respect someone who is noticeably making an effort to get used to the mechanics. I'm not defending the jerks that will boot you for 1 mistake and tell you to uninstall and go home, but I am saying that... with the material available, unless you str8 up do not have access to it for w/e reason, there's really no excuse not to watch it before.
It may not be a requirement, but it's one of those unwritten rules. On youtube, I recommend looking up MTQ. She makes EXCELLENT dungeon guides. She cuts straight to the point in 4-5 minute videos, and will break down boss mechanics to where they are simple to understand.
