We are now paying customers, so when can the service be used?

Clearly it is a bad launch... probably not the worst but it will never be considered as a good launch...
We will not being there posting our rage if we could play...
I've allready character on 8 or 9 server and couldn't access anyone... for the moment
My main is 20+ and i want to continue to play with it not restart another character on a random server as i know that this random server can as the others 8 be unavailable in one hour... or less...
There must be a serious compensation for the time lost and the time we will loose... not just a pitiful "we are sorry and expect that you will support it"...
free character transfer, free FC transfer, and free subscription time...

They are currently increasing server capacity and additional worlds are being added by early next week.

Then they should have delayed the launch until ALL the paying customers can log in and Bloody play for something they have paid for.

Actually the game is quite fun, if you get to log in and play. Too bad a lot of profit is turned away by these problems. Sure, some people now say "Good riddance!" "Go back to Panada land you crying n00b." or whatever other insults they might come up with. And maybe, I have to say, they might be right to some degree, as these people might be seen as "polluting" the rather good community, that they think they have.

However, telling people to leave the game, or well, having them leave since they are not able to play the game, will reduce the money the devs have to sustain servers, support teams, develop new content and the like.

I am not saying that people are not overreacting at some points. But still, this is a game that was paid for and you do not get to play it, what in my book is a rather bad sign. Yes, maybe in a week, all this will be none existant and nobody will talk about it anymore. Could be.
But still, this little problem is costing them potential costumers. With games you have like one chance to make an impression. And the one this game is making, well, is not the best for newcomers (=money)

Sure, that one person cried in public about the game (and considering it was his responsibility, as well as chance for a raise or a new Job, which he won't get should this game fail, I would cry too to get some sympathy), but that does not change anything. He tried his best, all the people worked hard, no doubt that. Still, people can not play the game they have bought. It's like in cyprus when the banks closed (suspended their service). None then said, "Awww poor CEO cried. Lets cut them some slack."

And in this, FFXIV 1.0 is mentioned. But do take a look at one important item they do mention there.
"Unlike some of the other bad MMO launches, FFXIV didn't show problems of excessive queues, billing issues (apart from a bizarre method of payment), or crashes"

The Final Fantasy XIV on that list refers to the original release back in 2010.

FF14 may have the dubious honor of making the top 10 worst MMO launches twice

I feel like we should all get time credited to our accounts as we can't log in or create characters. I got to play on a JP server last night right before the maint., I shouldn't have logged off apparently. But would like the choice of playing on a NA server. I don't understand how their infrastructure is so inadequate for launch? I mean, they planned on it failing?

Every popular game with an online component has server issues at launch. If the game doesn't have server issues, it's because they don't have users.

Thus is why the article mentioned that 1.0 was DOA. So it never had a chance to have these problems. Which is why it is having these problems now. Which is what people don't understand in the other forum posts. A company cannot fix something that is not known to be broken when the original release never experienced this type of load on release day. The beta itself wasn't that great, thus the number of people who decided to play the game day 1 was significantly less than this time around. Which explains why they weren't prepared for the launch problems they have now.

So People need to get off SE's back, Give them a chance to fix the problems first, compensate the people who started day 1/during EA after said problems are fixed, and we can get on with our lives.
For those who say these problems shouldn't have happened since this is the second time they are releasing the game... i refer you to the last statement i made, where a company cannot fix a problem they never encountered ahead of time.
