The Hunt Public Shaming Needs to end

I rarely see much public shaming (and when I do, it's usually when one guy just starts face-pulling everything as everyone else gets increasingly frustrated). There's nothing wrong though with simply letting everyone know who pulled. To someone who chooses not to believe in early pulling, this shouldn't matter.

We must hunt at different hours of the day... although Hyperion seemed very pleasant immediately after the patch, things all weekend were absolutely crazy regarding how fast people were pulling.

The problem seems to have snowballed; people are so afraid of missing out on the mob that crowds are just sitting in central locations where A ranks are about to spawn. When it does, these players are at the mob and pulling in less time than someone can teleport to the zone and arrive for participation. This is 100 percent because of the small number of people who refuse to have some patience and pull as soon as they arrive, even if they weren't the ones who found the mob (they almost never are... they're just leeching off the hunt groups).

In my experience, it is the freeloaders themselves that tend to be the early pullers. I've found (or the group I'm hunting with) MANY a hunt monsters in my time, and I let my LS or FC know, suddenly tons of random people show up. Who is it that pulls? Some random tank I've never heard of, who obviously free loaded off of tells or shouts they received.

It is wrong thing to do though if the purpose is to shame them. To shout that someone is an early puller in an effort to cause distress and harassment to that person. SE should suspend such people who do such things because it is done to cause harm and harassment which is against the ToS.

This is why shouting X mob location is a problem if its S or A rank. If you don't want people stealing your kill, let him pull and die. It's you thrusting in after him that keeps it going.

It's no more against the service to identify who pulls than it is to pull early. Both may cause some unpleasantness, but simply saying "Mustard Biscuits pulled, you can thank him for his efforts" isn't against the TOS any more than early pulling is.

Possibly... but they should know better in this game. XI had no shared claim system, no shared loot system... if you didn't get claim, you were screwed. This game is 180 degrees different.

I talked with a GM yesterday. 1 on 1 through tells.

early pulling is not an offense.
there is no declaration defining an early puller.
grieving tactics is a bannable offense.
someone disrupting hunts multiple times can be seen as grieving. if enough people report the same person that person may receive a penalty.
however people using third party applications such as Pos software and Guildwork app is a direct violation and could result in a permanent ban

Then you wont mind if people shout your name followed by the phrase early puller across all the regions on your server then.

The dozens of hateful and vindictive /tells you receive and the vast quantity of blacklists you get put on all because someone said your name followed by an insinuation you did something wrong which more often than not is simply not the case at all. Whether people late to the hunt not realizing people had been waiting there for a long time prior or simply a person running past or being in the vicinity when a hunt mob popped and that person getting targeted.

Since you have no problem with such shouts then you wont mind in the slightest if someone on your server who is reading this thread spams /shouts around zones saying you pulled early, after all you consider it something that is okay to do to people and you wont mind all the hate you receive in /tells and blacklistings against to your character since you do not consider it harassment to make such shouts.

instead of fighting amongst ourselves or saying SE designed it this way. when hunts first came out, SE declared "early pulling" is not how they intended the hunt community to handle the situation. but having them ban ealry pullers is like asking cops to eradicate illegal drug use. it will never happen... with that being said.


I propose we sign a petition asking SE to adjust hunts by increasing Mob HP or scale Mob HP based on players attacking the Mob or in the Mobs location

I don't think some people understand the claim system in this game is shared. Even at 50 I still see people for atma mobs and not searching for group but not wanting to team up because they know they can claim it faster lol.

If you really want to punish someone watch them pull and let them die. Then grab the monster and kill it with them receiving no raise.

Honestly the community here is not 180 degrees different. The game might be but the community is the same. They just go for it.

Just because I don't feel early pulling is wrong (or even really exists in any meaningful way, for the most part) doesn't mean that others do not. Here's my question though, why is what the others feel about something more important than how I feel about something and should my beliefs on what's right and wrong bend simply to appease what is popular?

Let's be honest here, public shaming isn't some grand justice; it's a witch hunt. It's really about scaring people into obeying the horde. Apparently, every hunt that spawns belongs to the horde and if you "steal" from them, which is as easy as pulling a hunt before the entire horde shows up, whether you found it or not, someone shouts your name and leaves it to the angry mob to exact their "justice".

I've hated hunts ever since they were first introduced, what they turned the community into. For this reason, I never joined any hunt linkshells, only looked for hunts myself in my spare time. If I found one, I'd tell my fc, we'd group in a single party and down it. That's how it was at the beginning anyway. The horde started getting angry at "early pullers". Eventually I had to hand all my hunts over to the horde because, no matter I felt about it personally, I had friends in those hunt linkshells and an fc tag to my name. It goes without saying that if I made a bad name for myself, it would affect all those around me. I didn't want to bring them any trouble, so yeah, I think those scare tactics work pretty well and I expect that the group that has the most to gain name shaming will continue to use it.
