The optimist in my says that he hopefully left after already laying down the groundwork for the game going forward. The pessimist in me fears he left because of some internal conflict over the future direction of the game that we are unaware of.

People who are 6th on the list of a game's credits don't leave all the time.
And the truth is that programmers/engineers are replaceable, but creative members of a team are not. If you replaced Uematsu, the music of the game wouldn't just be made by a different person, it would be completely different. If you replaced Yoshida (the other one) the game's characters would begin to look different over time. The World Planner is a big deal for the feel of the game going forward. -

Maybe something to do with them causing the umbral eras, but I guess that's not for this thread. Shame we lost him though, I do like the general direction the story seems to be going (SLOWLY), it seems like we haven't seen much of the depth they hope to eventually go into with the secrets of Eorzea at all.
