Seems you have very little understanding of the world we actually live in again thanks media I recommend you do some research on stuff like this there a big world out there outside your bubble you've built. Yes a country like Iran etc would ban a game like this if it had ssm marriage in it and if they could find you being open to it and if you lived in that country there be people not knocking on more like breaking in. There judicial system is not like here its run by sharia law were being gay is punishable by death and is most likely to happen etc also I could put some citation of actual videos of this but I do not want to put that kinda of graphics on this forums because it is not something suitable to show on here.

But you've miss the underline theme beside the example I've used It not a matter of negative consequences maybe to them and I say maybe it a matter of there principle's something they hold dear to and if another company hold to your value same applies to you. Its about respecting both views something that human's have very hard time doing in this day and age

However they've actively asked for feedback on this one and the wording certainly sounds like they're at least keeping the option open. If it was some principle they hold dear to them they would have said we're not doing it, deal with it.

Considering Iran is developing its own version of the internet to hide its citizens from the rest of the world, not to mention reality, I highly doubt anyone in that country will be playing XIV in the future. Besides, we really shouldn't be basing things on what is acceptable to extremist countries like Iran. Can we get back to realistic discussion please instead of outrageous hyperbole?

Why I'd said maybe I am not against this if they implement it or not and people do say thing just to appease other people they will say anything to you if it get you off there back example like politicians because in the end your just a voting block for them.

Go back couple pages I used them as example IF they were not they are playing and yes the internet plays a good role in trying to stop it but not everyone so lucky.

So because of what you think Iranian theocrats might do to gamers(but haven't shown they did) that you haven't connected to any other part of the Final Fantasy series (despite the absurd stretch you make in assuming they would be perfectly cool with Bahamut in prior games....) you would beholden the lore of Eorzea to the mores of Islam? That's not only ridiculous, but that ship has already sailed prior to XIV. The media jumps on gaming deaths all the time, yet you cannot provide an example to me of this particular abuse?

But no, we should all think of the tenant and values of the most zealous among us, when we develop stories and lore. Make sure our stories don't step in anything people might respect.

I prefer my fictions to be freer, because I know what fiction is.

I responded to this general question that you gave doesn't say to whom ffxiv is played at all it states that can anyone name any country that would ban and I gave you an example of a country. Well how about this then? Can you name a country which this game is localized for that would ban this game solely on the notion of same-sex marriage in a game. Let's narrow it down to countries that are actively supported by the developers.

The regions supported (going off the main website purely) are Japan, North America, the UK, Germany and France. Now also note that there are a good deal of Spanish-speaking players, some of which have moved to ask the devs to create a Spanish forum. So thus you could include Spain and Mexico, seeing as NA is already supported.

Out of those regions, those that concern the game specifically, which would create some huge outcry over the removal of the restriction?

This is a discussion, not Jeopardy. Anyone could've used a theocratic country in the middle east or central africa, but is there a sizable grouo of mmo players or ff fans there? Why would the country's sensibilities have to be courted over the opinions of the players in this thread?

Iran is an extreme example, its also a poor example because there are other things in prior versions of the game that do not square with muslim mythology, but there is no proof of any issue between Iran and Square Enix. Either it has been living under a rock for many years and has only now found final fantasy series with xiv, or it hasn't and the theocrats saw the summons such as Ifrit , Bahamut, Diabolos and Leviathan as "meh".

Why would anyone have to make where they live and such even public.... if its a "matter of life or death" keep it secret? People arent required to tell everyone what country they live in nor what sex they are even... over-thinking the matter altogether.
