Just here to echo the sentiments of the OP. I LOVE my Viera so much that I'll continue to play her despite the limitations. No other race does it for me like these beautiful bunnies. Going forward, I'd really like to see some improvements here though. Future content should include all races and genders. My purchases on the store should buy just as much as anyone else's characters.

A thought:

If Square Enix are going to continue with this neglect for much longer, they should bring in a 'warning' when Viera or Hrothgar are selected on the character creation menu. It's extremely unfair that new players join the game and pick either of these races only to discover down the line that they're severely restricted. I understand, from a business point of view it's most likely in their best interest not to do this, but if SE want to retain their reputation for being a highly respected company, they should at least give people a warning that these races are being worked on at a slow pace. In the live letter, SE only briefly mentioned Hrothgar receiving more hairstyles in 6.1... But how many do we think they're going to get?

The next Live Letter will be on 4th of March, I'm hoping we'll get a look at the hairstyles and I'm praying they will finally disclose their future plans for these two races.

Unless they've recently removed it there is actually a warning when you create a Hrothgar or a Viera saying that certain hairstyles and headgear will be unavailable, it wasn't there originally but they added it a little while after Shadowbringers launched after complaints about it.

EDIT: Just tried to create a Viera and there was no warning, either I'm starting to lose it or they considered those 6 hairstyles they added enough to remove the warning.

Maybe it's only after you use a Fantasia? I could've sworn it was there after character creation as well but it was so long ago I took the screenshot I honestly can't remember. It mentions "changes" so it may well have been after a Fantasia use.

I agree it should definitely be there during character creation though, even though you get a free Fantasia it's not logical for a new player to think they'd have to preemptively Google about playable race issues with hairstyles and headgear.

Just here to complain a bit more over all the hairstyles I have gathered that I can't use which makes it harder to make glams since the few hairstyles we have clip with alot of gear.

Also still confused about the chosen 6 hairstyles (although I love the karen one). Hopeful that we will get more soon, please gives us more soon I just want what I paid for like everyone else tyvm!

I'ma sad already to changed from Viera but honestly refreshing all these hats I saved and hairstyles. Bunny my favorite still, but happy to change until they get fix

Optimist: actual new hairstyles, and Hroth CC is overhauled and their hair and face are completely separated and can use the aesthetician freely

Pessimist: face 2, the most popular face/"hair" gets copy pasted into the other 3 and call it a day. Still need to Fantasia

Realist: still need Fantasia, but all 8 hairstyles are copied onto each of the 4 faces, making a total of 32 "faces" to choose from.

I am feeling the itch as well but I always regret it when I fantasia, I just love how my bunny looks and no other character I have created comes close. I just wish miqotes and au ras were taller. Would love to be able to use the hairstyles I purchased for real money at least.

6.1 we WILL see New hairstyles. And their hair and face will be separated. Likely this means the aestheticism will be used freely
No need to Fantasia, an issue I personally believe was due to them taking shortcuts to get things done in time for 5.0

I can't see them updating the hairs for hrothgar and still making you buy fantasia to change it... I believe they're not that evil.

What makes me uncertain of separating hair and face is that you can customize the hair through the facial tab, like removing bangs or braids, so I'm not sure if they'd either make those details compatible with all hairstyles, or remove the option altogether. That's why I think the "easier" solution would be to just copy paste more variations of each face with each different hairstyle, like how they did to add derplander's stubble.

I think they will do it like they do with viera, have each of the hairstyles in 2 variations, with and without the added detail, and then remove the detail from the facial features tab. So it would look like we have more hairstyles but its the same hairstyle with a variant.

I think this makes sense. But we are just speculating.
Also heard word that some features on the faces are being adjusted, things like the Face 4 Ronso Horn being Usable on all the faces.
But, gotta wait till March 4th, with great hope we will see and hear good things!

They adjusted the player models. Seems like a lot of work to just give us 6 hairstyles. Maybe we'll get nothing in 6.1 cause they want to let Hrothgar feel like they're catching up but we should be getting more but obviously the question is when. Another tell tale sign as to whether or not we will be treated more fairly in the hairstyle department is whether or not any new styles released include us cause that sure hasn't been the case.

I do understand your pessimism however given we've been disappointed many times before.

A part of me is all but certain this is going to be the case. There isn't a doubt in my mind the 6.0 hairstyles were all we got because they were busy with 6.0 and male Viera. Now they're prepping Female Hrothgar and 7.0. This is why, as much as I am frothing at the mouth to get my hands on my kitty lady, I advocate for finishing the promises made to current Viera/Hrothgar players before filling in the genders. This doesn't seem to be the case, though.

One thing I think yoshi-p mentioned somewhere, that I don't know if I understood fully well... I think he mentioned they'll "alter the facial markings on hrothgars so it won't be quite the same as before". Could that mean the markings like the stripes we have in the faces of the helion hrothgars? I never liked that... In their concept art they have "clean" faces so if that's what they're altering I'll fantasia to a helion hrothgar the day the patch comes!

I long for more sleek hairstyles. I love the poofy hairstyles but damn I want some more variation.

I've been watching the LL since it went live and they're really dragging their feet on even saying anything about the customization for hrothgar and viera

I mean, at least we know its going to be addressed by 6.1, but aaa I was hoping to get some info before I left for work T_T

You literally got the info though, both hroths and vieras are getting more hairstyles next patch, and in the patches after that they'll keep adding more. They didn't show pictures of how it looks, but you'll be getting it. In 2 weeks time, on the next live leter, they'll probably show the pictures.

You misunderstand me. Everyone knows that this info was long since available. Hell. They literally had a bullet point on it back in the previous LL. What i was looking for was pictures of the new hairstyles and info about the fantasia issue. We know they said they were looking into it, but i want confirmation on if it's fixed or not. Not them saying the age old meme "please look forward to it"

I hope it's something that is brought up in their next stream- There's no excuse to why Hrothgar have to use Fantasia imo. They should not had been released if their options were going to be gated like that.

I want Yshtolas and minfilias they would look awesome on viera. Also I want them since I paid for them. Of the legacy ones I would really love the soft curls. The braided ponytail would be nice as well. But with our luck so far we will get the side ponytail with the flower. I really dislike that one even if it won the hairstyle contest.

I think it's basically guaranteed they'll have a normal hairstyle system without need for fantasia. Let's entretain the idea it's still the old system... They want to add more hairstyles, and even more each patch from now on. What would they do? Keep adding multiple face options for hrothgars with multiple hair and face combinations? we'd have 12? 24? Different faces and every patch they keep adding more they'd expect them to either only be usable by brand new characters or expect people to pay 10 dollars if they want to change? Multiple times since they'll add more in multiple patches? It makes absolutely no sense at all! So you have nothing to fear. They wouldn't have gone to the trouble to do that and wait for this patch while viera got new hairs with the expansion's launch if they weren't taking their time at a harder challenge to rework this system. They are still launching female hrothgar, so they need to rework the system anyway if they want to release that race with changeable hairstyles, we know the female demographic wouldn't accept a race that beyond not getting hats wouldn't have customizable hair.

They'll probably do a small-ish amount again and try and balance between the male/female leaning styles like last time so there's a decent chance it'll be there, I like it fine on male characters just don't find it a super exciting hairstyle for female characters. Especially with so few options already :)
