I am annoyed that 'homogenization' has becomes the new buzzword of the forums. I'm tired of reading it TBH.
When people use it for the forums they're referring to #2 on the google defines:

Making things less unique and more similar, different colors of the same car kind of example. Like that a lot of people say the tanks have been made more similar than different in the latest expansion.
Although the tanks have also never have been closer in damage either, the difference between them isn't as bad as it has been before which is nice. I wasn't crazy to get the Warrior ability spam via Sword Oath/Atonement after already having holy spirit (Confiteor is awesome though lol), but to be honest I feel each tank still feels quite a bit different and now we're all closer together in dps.
Some homogenization can be helpful for balance reasons, just obviously you don't want it so similar that there is nothing that makes one job feel different to play than the other. I don't really play healers so no comment there, but I was fine with happened to tanks, I love my confiteor and instant casts lol.
My 2nd biggest annoyance:
Us, the group I am in: 1 wipe.
Rando in group: You utter noobs. /leavegroup
Everyone else: I guess everyone but me sucks cheetos /leavegroup
My biggest annoyance:
Us, the next group I am in: Total successful pull of something we came to farm several times.
Next pull: 1 wipe at 0.00000001% because random...
Rando in group: You utter noobs. /leavegroup
Everyone else: I guess everyone but me sucks cheetos /leavegroup
... /sigh ...
"Healer LB3?", "LB3 Micah", "WHM go use your LB3", etc when I was busy doing mechanics and dodging the baddies. As a healer, I know the state of our party wellbeing better than the DPS or off-tank. Yet these people seem to enjoy spamming the chat with remarks like that and I find those very annoying. If I follow this kind of advice, I would've died the same way they did and then wipe would ensue. I need some downtime so I could kneel in front of a cane in peace, y'all.
every person who asks that always sits down and refuse to play, I highly doubt that people who go this low will take 10 wipes before they do that, they instantly ask to be kicked if they get some duty they refuse to do, seen people do it even in aurum vale and they just wait at the entrance.
Any large-scale PvP that is not Rival Wings tends to just frustrate me.
The three-way free-for-all format feels like a crapshoot without a premade with how badly/quickly things can turn for the worse if your team happens to get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Not even being loaded with battle high is going save you from being ganged up on by both opposing teams while they have LBs ready.
Yeah, but I kind of expect that with PUGs, I always expect the worst ^^ Assembling a farm party, not getting and achievement on kill (so they obviously weren't in it for a clear), no mount drop and then disbanding the party just seems super random tho.
In general I hate when people just disband without aking if anyone wants lead.
Melding interface not viewable when the materia slots are full. making it impossible to see what you might be able to change to without first retrieving one (and possibly shattering it)
Retrieving material from bottom slot (Should be any slot)
As someone familiar with ff12 and tactics, its hearing Viera being called "Bunbun"
Which is interesting because in a lot of cases it can be better than dps lb3. (Not a criticism, just a general observation in PF)
For example, midfight 3 dps and a healer dead, swiftcast is down. You can recover in this situation, but the time spent hardcasting 3 rezzes while trying to keep the group healthy and then having half your party on weakness debuff, not to mention their downtime waiting on those rezzes, is both riskier and will lose far more dps than a melee lb3 would gain. Yet it's very rare a healer would use lb3 like that and if they did the pug group would possibly call them out for unnecessarily "wasting" it.
The worst version if that “healer LB3” is when folks are calling for it, everyone’s dead except the healer and one tank, and you’re watching the jealer’s castbar as he’s hard casting raise while... targeting your own dancer toon...
But even worse is when the healer(s) are all dead, one tank is up, all the DPS but one are dead, and boss is just doing auto attacks or some minor thing... the one DPS up is a SMN or RDM... that is auto-attacking... or running to jump off a ledge...
Me and that SMN did that dance for a solid several minutes in a normal sunken temple of qarn the other day when I was working on leveling WAR... and at the end of it I was like “the only reason I kept fighting for another 973 minutes there was because you have a resurrection spell and I was expecting you to use it...”
- don’t think he was a green leaf. The healer and other DPS were so them faceplanting on a new to them mechanic was no surprise... but the SMN I just... I dunno...
Players telling people the wrong mechanics for a dungeon and then complain when party wipes!!! Aggravating and Annoying.
Players who say "waste of resources" whenever someone suggests something new on the forums, or when SE releases a new PvP mode.
More diversity in the game attracts more players, which attracts more money, which results in more money for more resources. Plus "waste of resources" is such a fun police statement. I always get a little annoyed when I read it.
2 things in my mind right now:
1 - When i play as Healer ( Main Tank ) and cast Asylum, Sacred Soil or Earthly Star and the tank move out the bubble and stand out of it. That drives me into the madness.
2 - There's someone in my server who stand dancing AFK everyday at same place in end-game point ( Mor Dhona, Idylshire, R'Reach and now Elmore ), i don't even know the reason why that person play to do that, i thought the user died while was playing but there's no way since maintenance force you to log out and he's doing this since ever. That annoys me, always that i go to the same zone i turn the screen away from him to not see his character Dancing AFK at same place and position without end.
I know the dude, he's not always AFK though, sometimes he does move from there. He also talks occasionally, for example, when I told him he could /visor the coeurl mask to make the eyes glow.
Also, there is actually more than one person who dances afk for seemingly no end, that one in kugane is a different person, I think.
YES! I've suggested a couple fluff things over the last couple years that annoy me that I'd wish they'd change, like enabling both genders unsheathed weapon poses so I can stab my sword in the ground as a male DRK or use my lance as a leaning post as a male DRG. Pretty sure that thread got a few "waste of resources" posts, even though my main post that started the thread has OVER 100 LIKES and MANY replies in support (so clearly this is wanted).
So a couple of my annoyances are forced visual things, like making certain poses gender locked (as mentioned before) and things like the green glowing hurricane effect of Greased Lightning (I don't need a visual indicator covering my entire character swirling around when there's a gauge that tells me how many stacks I have), and also people that think making things like that optional is a waste of resources. :D
Maybe waste of resources is the wrong term, perhaps then just saying it should be lower on their priority list. There are huge glaring issues that need to be addressed first before anything. Nobody is going to sub to a game for idle poses, sad to say. Not to say I wouldn't like some more, or special running animations for every job if they have their weapon unsheathed (ie RDM and MCH) but I'd rather they worked on that after stuff like, ninja and healers.
1. Dancers who think they are melee so stand right up front near the boss and clip the actual melees with aoes who have to actually be close to the boss.
2. Healers who only keep dpsing when everyone's health is getting low, the tank is mid health and others are dead, but at least we're tossing stones at the boss.
3. Day one of ex drops and pf already with clear only, please don't suck, etc etc "although that one is more funny to me then anything"
Not always the case I'm sure but I imagine some dancers are close to a melee so they can use their cure stacked with their partner or like if a dragoon has tethered them. Or they might be using their upgraded AoE skills from that one "unlock everything" utility skill lol.
There was a healer that detethered me from my dragoon buddy because they thought I should be in back XD. I was like "....no?" and ran right back up into range so I could heal share and be in contact (not inside the boss's circle or anything but still fairly close).
Of course ideally you position yourself so you can avoid stuff, like if I get a marker I'll dash back out of range drop it and then dash back into range again while attacking the whole time- something a melee couldn't really do.
Another might be they're afraid their dance wont hit the boss so they move in closer, although technically the range on the dance is really really big so.. unlikely unless you're across the arena lol.
Was just trying to add that they might have a reason to at least be semi-close to the boss lol. I'm sure there are cases where they're just messing people up though, people being people.
I wanted to say something... There seems to be a prejudiced towards Party Finder ppl. Throughout those years, i've seen many thinking that they won't be able to pass this "duty" if they add a random in their group but from what i've seen, those randoms usually are the ones that have practised harder for a boss fight and they are the ones that they don't expect for someone else to call out their mechanic to do it right. I honestly don't have a bad experience through PF. The only big problem i see is during heavy mechanics fights and unforgiving boss attacks, which is not easy to get used to the new group with zero mistakes and it's easy through PF to give up.
Don't hesitate to give them a chance please though and be clear on what you are looking for!
You have the option to recruit ppl for practise, for duty completion, for the ones that have already cleared it with duty complete, the option to add comments, the specific jobs you might need... Do consider to be more open with Party Finder!
And for those that are already in a static.. give your leader a break! For one person to call out all the mechanics all the time endlessly, wipe after wipe, perhaps because the rest didn't take a look at the fight ..is not how it should be in my opinion!
Yeah and I've never insisted these kind of things should be a high priority, but it hurts no one to request the things you'd like to see happen. Will I quit if they don't implement my suggestions? No, at least that wouldn't be my reason for quitting if I eventually do. :D
People, specifically in the forums but also in game, who talk down a job because it's the popular thing to do, facts be damned. Doubly so when they dont even have the job they're talking about leveled.
I'm not sure if I'm just being a butt but ... I am getting quite tired of being
60+ or so on, and having people continuously fail on same tired mechs we have saw over the years.
Especially at 70+.
It's really things like the Eyeball thing or Stack/Spread mechs...Seriously...Whhhyyy.
I do get frustrated and I try to explain mechs and people still mess up. I'm like this in my head!
https://media.giphy.com/media/3BL45MJDZABqg/giphy.gif
People leaving trials or raids just because a single person is new. That one person isn't going to cause a wipe in most cases, and if they do, you just explain what caused it and try again.
Cause they did not learn from it the first time and the game does not punish hard enough.
Take Sirensong for example. It is actually the first dgn in the whole game to repeatedly at short intervals in the fight to use the stack mech. I'm not talking about other fights that do it one time and then you kill the boss by the time the second one shows up, cuz there are alot of fights before sirensong exactly like that. That one should be the teachable moment in the game.
It's unfortunately also the fight where it's survivable with 2-3 party members. So if a dodo-brained party member never takes part of the dmg share, the fight's cleared and they learned nothing from it. Now if that stack in that fight, inflicted...hmm...5 vuln stacks with a 4min duration in one go for failing to have all party member share it? They'd learn because within the next minute, they would commit the same mistake and then those 2-3 party members would die.
In many ways, the reason why people don't learn from those types of mechs is because of that issue. They're survivable and they do not have lasting consequences that can cause a party wipe the next time it's missed.
Trying to create something that's for everyone usually results in creating something that's for no one. SPlit your attention too much and you end up having something that's unappealing to the PvP crowd bc there are deeper and better pure PvP games, and unappealing tp the PvE crowd because there are deeper and better pure PvE games. Sure experimenting with new things isn't bad per se, but shifting focus around too much without having a clear core focus has never resulted in anything good. Before implementing another half a**ed idea that goes nowhere and will be abandonned soon anyway, how about focussing on one of the 1000 gameplay mechanics that are already there but are just going nowhere bc they haven't seen further development or improvement in years?
- GNB 5.01 sfx and how developers ignore our feedback
- heated MCH animations
That is pretty common among many mmo communities unfortunately. Indeed it is annoying and don't be the one that actually loves the game, you will get destroyed.
Just because people enjoy something does not make that something immune to criticism. In fact, it can be said that criticizing comes out of a place of love. Everyone wants the game to succeed, and every criticism comes from people wanting it to be the best it can be.
