I am currently replaying the PSP port, and Good Gods! That was an awesome job system, and game, i can't fathom for the life of me why SE gave up on the series <.<

you know... i could never really get into playing tactics... then again I couldn't stand the way it was played with it's turned based way i know most final fantasy games are like that but this was more of the fire emblem and that never got my gears going. the whole grid you move one person then ai moves and so and so forth kinda annoyed me....
Well i personally play games #1 for the Story Line, #2 Gameplay and a distant #3 Graphics, For it's day and age, the graphics of the game where miles ahead of any other strategy game(Except maybe Front Mission series) and the storyline is miles ahead of any FF tittle to date, is a more grim, realistic, political, storyline with plots and backstabing at every turn, it also has a very religious tone, but you can skip it if you want.
As for the gameplay, in my opinion it was greatly done, if you have played any of the older FF tittles you already kinda used to the "Wait and attack me" system, but this one is way more strategical than any FF of old(Again my opinion).
To me is the best FF tittle aside from VI.
i've played the older ones and was never bothered by the wait for attack to attack. with tactics i just hated the wait for the person to move as far as they can then you can move as far as you can before you can even get into range to attack >.<
but hey everyone has their own likes and dislikes wasn't knocking ya at all on it just saying I could never get into the game play of it. Funniest thing though I loved Enchanted arms it had the same grid system but they did it so completely different cause there was the random encounter the only thing you had to do was move to where your character was in range to fight.
I do however like Ivalice otherwise I would have never have played 12... (i'm going to have to play it again... stupid ps3 died with over 100 hours of game play on it and I didn't even beat the game yet.... *shoots self in head*)
They idnt give up on the series, havent they been making additions to the tactics games in slow installments? Sure they might not be as good, but they are making them.
I really wish SE would just use FF11's jobs system or FFT's job system. But the mix of Classes and jobs in FF14 is a sad state, where they have "leftovers" of one type of gameplay(classes) coexisting with new forms of gameplay (jobs).
Some might say "ohh there are reasons to explain that" but I dont think it'll really fly with newcomers to the game any more than it does to players who find it a silly remnant of old FF14.
Unlikely as it is Id rather classes and physical levels, done well. Then the job system. But /shrug we'll see
Oh i was not knocking you either, i was trying to explain how the game was, maybe you would like it past the first chapter, since the maps are really small, you dont really need to move a whole lot to get in range, and with the combinations of abilities you can have a knight who wields magic, or can attack from a distance with monks skills etc etc.
hmmmm, I'll see if i have enough money on my psn account and buy it. I'm always willing to try giving things another shot just like how I keep trying to play 2. It's only 9.99 so it's not like I'm spending a lot of money on it
They did gave up on the series, the follow up tittles, are not even in the same league as the original, nor are they of the creation of the creator of the the original, they are not even on consoles, but handheld consoles, can you imagine FFT on the ps3 ? That would look Epic!
Sure they did release 2 tittles with the name Final Fantasy blablabla Tactics, but they are not the same :) Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is not a real Final Fantasy.... But it is named Final fantasy lol
i downloaded dawn of souls from psn when it was on sale so it has 2 on it
