Glam Dresser is inadequate, even doubling it does not solve the problem.

I'm the minority, at least. The current system is a little clunky but I don't think it's anywhere near as awful as others make out. The plates work well and I can deal with having swap things in and out when I'm putting something together – the extra bits get stored on retainers or I'll try things on at the marketboard and shops before buying them.

It would be nice to have things more streamlined, but I can work with the current system and the extra storage space will be greatly helpful.

Also, I actually prefer the "permanent stamp onto current gear" approach to the "overlay" approach that gets regularly suggested as how it should work instead. It means I can switch things around after applying a glamour plate, or deliberately remove a piece before applying the plate so it doesn't get affected, or tweak it in other little ways on the go.

Honestly, feel free to keep complaining about whatever you find inadequate. But to say that they are malicious in withholding some things or another is folly. It's a question of priorities, and it's okay to question the developers' priorities.

For whatever reason this dev team chose to create the glamour dresser instead of a proper glamour log. But the question is a manner of time. Yes code is malleable, but code is also fragile, particularly in ever evolving systems like, say, an MMO. It all depends on how long we will be willing to wait, or if we accept less updates elsewhere. We have been asked to accept less dungeons per patch, so some more compromises wouldn't hurt... Right? Doubtful.

At the end of the day the devs have not actually been completely transparent, which is a pain. If a live letter opens up again I might ask a question regarding some inner workings of things... and watch it not get chosen, haha. But I'd rather have a clearer picture of what the devs consider important, more than anything else.

No the current system is as awful as we make it out to be. Because a full inventory negatively affect the rest of our interaction with the game.

"What do i need to toss away today" Should never be a thing that crosses a players mind every time they boot up the game. Especially not when a lot of it is obtained only through randomness.

It would help massively to have a concrete reason to why they are having issues to implement a log. As some have mentioned in a previous thread, items to be glammed has to exist as objects. But then this game have made it apparent that it can generate and delete items on a whim so it shouldn't be impossible to, to say have the glamour log check for unlocked item in a table -> Generate game item -> put it in an invisible/inaccessible inventory slot and delete whatever old item was placed there -> apply it as glamour.

Gear does not "come in sets", it comes as individual pieces, like most every MMO in existence. You can have a body piece but be missing every other piece of instance gear for your job. A 64k bitmap (because you always need to leave room for expansion) would be fine, if the gear system used bitmaps. But it doesn't. It uses gear slots, complete with information about 'glamour' and dyes. It uses a set of small tables for the glamour plates. SE may well decide to replace this system with a transmog system like WoW, but ...

Have you looked at the cost of transmog in WoW? You don't need to purchase glamour prisms, true, but every time you switch out one bit of gear for another, it costs you gold. I was greatly interested in reading that the cost for a full gear set for a monk could cost 400 gold (based on some valuation of the gear set in gold), and a visit to one of the vendors who you have to go to in order to get changed out.

Personally, I wouldn't want to do more than expand a glamour prism when-and-where I decided to apply a glamour. Can you imagine the outcry if you had to visit a major city any time you desired to glamour a piece of gear? (I can, because that was the fate of glamour plates until 6.0 came out).

I very well know that armors come in individual pieces. What i meant is that they are relatively easy to put into collections, both by role and by tier. This game also has achievements which you can only get by presenting items to an npc, and achievements can generate items both through the achievement tab and the calamity salvager, so they already got systems in place that can be patched together to produce some kind of glamour log.

Here's my thing. I understand people who say "why don't you just throw it away, you can reacquire it if you want it again".

No. . . I can't. Because a lot of that stuff comes from 24 player / 8 player content.

1) You're fighting RNG for it to show up
2) You're fighting RNG of other players to obtain it

I'm not going through RNG on top of RNG just to "re-acquire" something that a system should easily fix. If I obtain said item I unlock it in a log.

Hell, Restrict glamours to only be applied in an INN room if it helps the server load (because apparently allowing to be accessed worldwide is an issue). Make it take 10-15s to load the database if need be. I don't care. ANYTHING is better than what we have.

There are systems that are clunky to use, and there are systems that outright don't work.

The dresser management is clunky, and plate application once they're set up is actually pretty good.

It's not ideal but it's usable.

So you prioritise what you keep by how hard it is to get it back. Store it on a retainer if you don't really like it but are worried that you can't reacquire it.

Besides. things can change.

At first we didn't have any glamour system at all for a long time.
Then they added the glamour prisms system.
Only in ..late SB? we got the dresser, and at first it was even worse cause you couldn't remove stuff, only delete it.

The system always got better over time, so what is wrong to ask for an even better system?
Imagine if back in ARR people asking for a glamour system got shut down by others saying we didn't need one cause armor looks just fine the way it is to them, or people asking for something to store glamour items in to begin with got shut down by others saying prisms are just fine and just buy more retainers/only keep the most important pieces.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with asking for a better system. Just that there's a middle ground between "exactly what we want" and "so bad it's not meeting the minimum level of usability".

There are plenty of people in this thread just saying things like "system is fine, you all are just hoarder" and the likes.
