Lmao, yeah good defense man.

To clarify I wasn’t trying to generalise, my meaning was “some people” and not the whole 14 population or even the whole world.
This is just simply how the tone is interpreted in the vast majority of these cases. So whilst not outright stated in many cases that is just the tone. If you want to take issue with this then you ought to direct it in the direction of these grossly overused buzzwords and phrases when people are to present a counterargument. Many people are utterly incapable of having a fairly civil conversation or debate unless the topic is a one-sided unanimous agreement.
If we want to take this direction though then it is equally as childish to pick out arguably cases which fall within outliers rather than a norm, then to try and masquerade those outliers and apply it to the norm of the community in a gross generalisation. Do I personally feel attacked? Nah. But this is still a gross generalisation painted across the community which arguably is just as unconducive as any trait you've pointed out in your post, honestly.
Now we reach onto a second problem. This community has an issue in that they aren't wholly capable of making the distinction between a disagree and a shutdown in criticism, and once again this second paragraph arguably is just a product of the gross generalisations that are applied to the community on this forum.
This I don't really condone in any fashion, but if I'm to be frank common sense is telling me that this person isn't really openly condoning the act of death threats on a forum, versus the simple fact they're just highlighting that defence statements are an intended consequence of when someone presents a criticism. You can construe their post as you wish - It was vague enough to do so, but personally I don't really think this was the case. - Just to make it abundantly clear that I'm not defending this if it were indeed the case, but rather just stating there's multiple ways of construing their post.
It was pretty obvious for anyone that isn't a special snowflake or wasn't trying to feel offended, don't worry.
See, where I come from we judge people on the intent of which they said things, not about what they said. People are only responsible for what they say, not how others understand it. If once you say "that's not what I meant" they still try to accuse you then what's best for you to do is ignore them and move on.
I realize that but ur og post gave off that impression which is what led us down the train of whatever this convo is. again I'm not mad at you or think you have some sus opinions, but your og post was v. open to interpretation tbf lol. i'm not trynna attack you or whatever that's not my intent
Yeah, my bad for assuming a post in the official FF14 forum, in a thread called "FF14 and toxic positiivty", is about FF14.
You're the one making the assumption, not me. Again, nice strawman.
Where did I attack the poster? More strawman.
"Look at me, I know Latin". No, you're wrong. Also, wrong spelling by the way.
Continuing putting more words into my mouth. Why don't you just point out where I actually said it? Oh wait, you can't.
"Heavily implying". It's not my fault if you have a problem with reading comprehension. It seems the only one looking to get offended is you, and the fact that you had to misconstrue my comment so badly proves it.
Sure thing buddy.
Wait, was I too....negative for you? Are you trying to impose...*gasp*...toxic positivity on me? You can't do that, that's illegal.
It's a marketting ploy , just like you would see some companies enforcing political correctness to extreme degrees to hide something, like office harassment / sexual misconduct of higher elements of staff and whatnot, and here, it's hiding some trolls and discord trolls / harassers that spend their day Party Finder "hoping" / stalking to see who's in what group, from one group to another and sending a few "bad elements" in them and making it impossible to achieve what is normally pretty easy to do week 7 in these raids. It's online Griefing / Stalking / Harrassment and it's covered by a blanket of rules so it's made very conveniently hard to spell it out / you cannot speak about it.
The problem with these kinds of threads is that people always commented as if the whole community is synonymous with whatever inconvenience that they experienced when playing.
Like for example, when they encountered people that responded negatively when they're criticized, they immediately said "EVERYONE BUT ME must be like this!", ignoring or without realizing the fact that FFXIV is a game played by millions of people, of course some people would act like this and some would act like that, of course you have a range of people that can receive criticism and those that don't.
If you see someone play poorly and you try to help them but they don't want to hear it, just don't let it hurt your feeling and makes you think everyone is like that, just move on. Much easier, much healthier that way, instead of announcing to the world that FFXIV is rife with "toxic positivity" or whatever.
I literally don't understand why people have to be so toxic all the time. Just enjoy the game and if you dont you can literally go and play something else. No one is forcing you to boot up the game and play.
