All I see is people being unnecessarily rude on both sides of the argument.
I'm sorry, normally I'm a pretty understanding dude when it comes to MMOs and launch days (I'm a fucking Warcraft veteran if that tells you anything) and they haven't done jack shit to explain much of anything. Sure, they warned us congestion would get bad. Sure, they warned us they couldn't procure more servers. But actually explaining anything? Square's been pretty mum with their explanations. Like, the explanation for Error 2002 is just bogus. There should be zero issues with the log-in servers being unable to handle players in a queue in excess of 21,000 players. And if they are, that's shitty coding causing this issue and not because of some hard cap on the log in server that causes players who are only at 2k in the queue to be disconnected and have to retry. I could understand Error 2002 happening if someone tries to log in and their like number 17k+ in the queue, but this shit is happening even for players at 500 in the queue and who shouldn't be experiencing this sort of thing.
I would also point out that them blaming Covid for being unable to procure more servers is also pretty bogus. They should have procured more servers after Shadowbringer's launch, when they first learned that the game had attracted enough of a following that their server infrastructure couldn't handle the influx of players. Granted ShB wasn't nearly as bad as Endwalker has been, since we've got the WoW Exodus to deal with, but they should have procured additional servers long before Covid hit and made a mess of things. The fact that they did not indicates that Square didn't think that the same launch issues that plagued ShB was going to plague Endwalker, which by itself is a pretty dumb decision and lack of foresight.
You didn't read it, did you. They're cannibalizing their own development servers in an attempt to alleviate this situation. They will also be performing maintenance to resolve other errors in the queue, which are to take place Wednesday. But hey, I get it, you have your narrative. Yoshi-P and SE bad.
They've been nothing but transparent through the whole process. Read their latest lodestone post. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...24153ef4405c13
How do you know they didn't prepare for a typical increase from ShB to Endwalker? However, the influx of new players combined with the global situation that hit with COVID was basically an unforeseeable situation.
But I did.
Is there any noticeable change on our end of the experience? So far I didn't experience anything different and so far I don't hear anything different happening either. That they have done something or not, we cannot know. They said they have done something, that we can be sure, but beyond this, we can't know. And we can be mostly sure the experience on our end didn't change at all.
I can read alright, but words can be far from reality, especially from a salesman or a public representative.
Got into the queue tonight, booted, back in with 2000 more people in the queue... 45 minutes later booted with a 3001 error and now can't get back in with more 3001, so that queue slot is gone. That's the day over with play wise, because even if I get back into the queue now I won't have enough time to get through it and have any play time left. I started 2 hours before I wanted to play.
Does it suck? Yeah. Is SE scrambling to try and fix it? Yeah. I get the frustration, I'm feeling it right now. But it's people on the other end of this who are just as unhappy about the situation as we are. No one at SE wanted a launch where this happened.
People need to remember that and find better ways to vent their frustration than attacking SE. It won't help.
Here’s the thing about the Lodestone post. It talks about 2002 when trying to get into the queue. Nowhere in that topic does it even touch on 2002 while you are already in queue. That is the situation I want to hear them explain and give an update/fix on.
I read ''We are now ready to deploy the backup development servers to the public lobby servers, which will improve the capacity management of the lobby server and raise the maximum number of players in the queue to around 21,000. Since this will not require any maintenance, we will err on the side of caution and proceed with the deployment outside of peak hours. It is scheduled to be completed late in the night of December 7, Japan time.
'' I guess it is tomorow then ... or not since now it is 9H25 am 8th of december in Japan.
But I can't read right?
But it is fine, you are taking it personnal and so am I. This is only a game. I just decided to make an investment in this game and I am disapointed so far in the delivery. How can you be disagreeing with my position is beyond me. I am okay with you no sharing it, completly fine. But I can't comprehend how come you all come in to defend SE or its spokeperson like they are attacked.
And I'll be the first to congratulate them when they will really fix the problem and make their game playable and enjoyable for everyone. I have been playing FF series since the first game. I am sold to them, but I know my money is worth more than what I have bought so far and we are many beleiving this launch is a flop. And although we all know they can do better, and they did relaunch this game to the surprise of many and surpassed wow, we also know deserve better than this.
