Since I saw this I can't help it. I have run the Vault at i210 with no healer. The composition was Warrior, Dragoon, Black Mage, SMN. Smn was the bare minimum ilvl and didn't have any 50+ skills unlocked.
That's how hard healing is in this game. Mr Yoshida, make the Vault great again. Thordan Vault! (I guess????)

Because they are. Plain and simple.
It's lazy, inefficient, and "average".


Healers have the access and ability to contribute either very little, or a lot.
Choosing not to DPS is choosing to do very little. ie. Lazy

No one, I repeat NO ONE who believes healers should attempt to deal as much damage as possible while on healer is suggesting that DPS takes priority over the health of the party. Healing first, DPS second.
However DPS second does not mean no DPS at all.

They may have "done their job" but they have done the absolute bare minimum of their job if they finish the dungeon with 0 DPS.
Why strive for the bare minimum in a game, when you can strive to actually be a good player with a "little" bit more effort?

Nobody has to play with maximum efficiency if they don't want to, that's my take on it. They shouldn't expect other people to think that's awesome, though. A lot of this thread is moral outrage at people's playstyle being seen as subpar or lazy when it kinda is. I think lacking the desire to play at maximum efficiency (or, at least, a good efficiency, because I'm not the world's greatest healer and I'll never claim to be) is worse than not having the "skill" to do it. I also think skill is something you learn over time and that most players are capable of, if they want to.

Yes, not dps-ing besides healing means you have free time. But if you pass the dungeon / raid without much effort and the job gets done... why continue to harass them? I just don't get it.

I personally wouldn't harass them. As I said in the post, I would never kick a healer for not DPSing. No one in this thread is actually being harassed, as far as I can tell. People are acting like being told their playstyle isn't as good as the counter-playstyle is harrassment, though, which is kinda hilarious.

She did not know the exact numbers, that would be impossible to do, but she was observant enough to tell who the highest DPS was, the fact the co healer was not doing much, and keeping tabs how the MT acted.

Saying you need to violate the tos to tell who has the highest DPS is a complete lie. You just can't recognize if everyone is good or if everyone is bad, and if everyone is good, there is no point in caring about the numbers anyway.

For that titen today the DPS went:
BRD>BRD>DRK> the shield using AST that was working overtime in healing> the second DRK> a 3rd BRD> the SMN that kept dying > LB> the WHM who got out healed by the sheild using AST.

Not only did the SHIELD healer out DPS 4 people (5 things if you count the lb, since the lb out damaged the pure healer) But the shield healer also out healed the regen healer who did no DPS. That shield healer was carrying the regen healer and putting extra effort because they where not skilled, along with the DPS she managed to out DPS. The fight took way longer then it should, stressing her mp and such as well. Even with all that, vastly outperformed 4 people in both healing and DPS.

You are playing dense, if it is not ok for a DPS to hit a button once a minute, it is not ok for a healer to hit a button once a minute, learn what teamwork and putting in the same effort means.

Can't believe the degree of toxicity on these forums here saying healers shouldn't put effort in playing just because they are healers.

Well, there are posts saying that they do kick healers for not dps-ing, and there are enough posts saying that people who play heal but not dps are lacking skill, are lazy and are not worthy getting anything in the game.

I don't know, if that behaviour is okay, something here is really wrong.

Take a look at the vid someone posted on the healer section.

Xelphatol, expert roulette while we were all in 240 maximum ilvl.

He casted less than 15 spells the whole run. Means doing nothing the rest of the time.

You're lazy, that's all.

If you think a healer have to heal in this game you should try to play the game, its designed around the fact that everyone have to dps.
