I agree that could happen but having played since the start I highly doubt it would be asked unless people suspected you of low dps. I do believe it can be subject to some abuse but nothing like a public parser may get. It would be a fantastic add on for a PS4 user like myself.

That's right, I can 'see' it these days when I run dungeons and certain raids when they don't pull up the full potential of their class. I guess that comes with leveling every job to 60.
However, I shouldn't need to be on the constant lookout for those who think to get a quick carry done, especially when its new content and my focus is on the fights. That's where a meter would definitely be helpful (for me).

And believe me, it happens more than enough that I take notice of this. When you don't nip this attitude in the bud, it will become a serious problem you have to deal with in the upcoming expansion.

I don't see the problem with this - People want to clear it on a high level of performance from the players and this is totally fine. It's the same like saying "High DPS/Skip Soar/No bonus", just that they will be able to validate your performance by the meters to see if you're who you tell them to be.

If you don't think you can manage to get on that level they are requiring from you, you can simply look for another party. No grey hair lost on them, right?

The problem is word "starting". When something "starts" some day will become norm. As the speedruns becomes norm in dungeons, or the skip CS in main scenario dungeons or the "skip soar" shit. People can adopt this as norm, turning the community in a entitled bullshit, to the point of parse on dungeons and kick people for not being in the top tier DPS in a fucking leveling casual dungeon. People it is like this, and already probed a lot of times. (the skip soar shit is one of the probes)

This behavior will cause the exclusion of players, dividing community in tiers. Instead of being a game for everyone as is intended.

Today was one party, tomorrow will be two. Next day will be three, and in the end, will be the norm. And this is the problem. It is not a isolated thing. This will grow.

Also, you're using a unofficial tool, that thins shouldn't even been allowed.

Parsers in and of themselves are useless they just tell you the big number after the fact with no context. the log site is the reason paraser are used for improvement because it takes all that data and puts in it a format you can digest and provides the context for how you got that number and where you can fit more buffs and in cooldown usage. An ingame parser is worthless without the log site so unless SE cuts a deal with them or attaches something like it to lodestone or something this whole discussion is worthless all you end up getting is a bunch of harassment because everyone has different standards on what good dps is.

I think leveling every class to 60 is an option that people have. Some people have more time in their hands to do that then others, you can't use this in an argument and think it justifies you being grumpy about having people that don't put effort every now and then. And believe me, I know it doesn't happen as often as you say it does. You get upset more easily than other people do about it.

Regardless of this, they are most likely to not add this feature because the community doesn't agree at all. We have a very split opinion on this as you can see by this thread thus it will harm either way. Might as well not have it.

Isn't that what already happens with those lazy/entitled players? We let them pass because they are too much of a hazzle dealing with them if you start to argue with them in a dungeon, and thus encourage their behavior to continue despite them being wrong.

I've seen tanks, dps and healers grind their teeth and be quiet about the issue with others because they didn't want to risk the emotional strain coming from this.

But all of the sudden everyone shuns the use of a addon that the usage and interpretation is completely up the player? Some community, that is.

I reckon you're not going to blatantly deny the huge portion of people in WoW that harass over DPS numbers, right?
I'd say it might be hearsay up to some point but this is a problem that happened because of Parsers in WoW and it's kinda obvious...

Give an already mostly toxic community a tool to measure people based on DPS and they'll use it for evil, period.

Eh, the only catharsis some people have is making others as effing miserable as humanly possible. Needless to say, arbitrary numbers make a nice low hanging fruit for the adult children in the MMO crowd. As already stated, 3rd party parsers and arbitrary websites already exist in XIV to provide a means for "critics" who can't tell the difference between a percentile and a parrot.

This said, parsers can be used to self improve and get help diagnosing any issues in rotations. However, much like percentiles and parrots, people often can't tell between advice and passive aggression. But I'm not getting any closer to that collective existential crisis.

Top 53rd percentile means "Did better than 52% of the playerbase that has succeeded at this content." It's actually pretty decent because past that you start getting into padded DPS ranges.

Also FFLogs only shows the leaderboards for current content (ie, my Midas Savage is no longer ranked because Creator Savage is current (or if it is still ranked I can't find it >.>))

I believe the comparison stands because it *is* still a leaderboard, and it does not show the entire playerbase on it, just those who have cleared the content. To translate it a bit: "Look this loser is only number 12 lol"

Wait...what do you think percentile means in this case? If I were to say, do A9S as Dragoon and only rank into the 32nd percentile, that's against all Dragoons that have done it, not against the group itself. Excluding the other seven members makes no difference to that.
