Rage? What is there to rage over? What kool-aid are you guys drinking?

It's good when they nerf grinds. It's very characteristic of Japanese games, which is to say classic RPG games, to have long drawn out grinds to extend gameplay. The original Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior demonstrate this very well.
This isn't the era of 8-bit RPGs that really only had the option of using grinds as gameplay. The grinding content in this game, and in MMOs in general, doesn't need to be inflated to crazy levels to have a good lifetime. It ends up being tedious.
The drop rate is crazy. That's even worse than Atma.
Always grind with the yo-kai watch and use the normal medals to keep track of how many FATEs you've completed.
I just finished a 4th weapon at 159 FATEs; that's 42 medals for 159 FATEs, or 1 medal per 3.8 FATEs. (about a 25% drop rate)
Extrapolated, it's a rate that means about 844 FATEs to finish all the weapons.
You start the event with 1 yo-kai medal, which means you can start the entire process grinding for both legendary and normal medals simultaneously.
The drop rate is far from "worse than Atma"; however, it is still a tedious process as some maps have horrendous FATE spawn rates and/or horrendous layout that makes trekking to FATEs a massive pain. In the end, it's very tedious.
Finished them all with a tally of 222 medals from 745 fates, which comes to 30% drop rate, thus at least for me its better rates than Atmas.
To be honest with you, there needs to be a level of grind. But the problem SE has, and still has, is the balance of the grind. People might not like it, but its important to keep the players doing something. As an example to kind of exagerate my point, If Savage mode alex is to easy, and everyone rushes through the entire content in a few weeks, how long would people stay subbed to the game to continue playing, when they've done literally all of its endgame? The same could be said for anything. Without some kind of grind, what would keep people playing the game, and keep you active in the game?
tl:dr - Grinds suck, but they are needed to keep people busy.
There's maybe 15% of the playerbase that will ever clear a8s, and even if they manage it once, the grind begins for getting the drops you want. SE's problem is that they overcompensate the grind length of content that's intentionally easy. No challenge + immense grind = tedious.
