I apologize for not being clear with the intent of my post. I was more trying to make a point about the XIV community, rather than XI's endgame. :) I simply don't feel the current players would enjoy content like we had back then.

You do, however, raise an excellent point with Coil and Alex.

That's why I only want one. Make it a side story and a good deal of people will to it. Not all of course but probably the same amount who actually partook of Coil. Actually, thinking on it the best thing would be to have it be a Gelmorran city. Make it give lore on Gelmorra and the War of the Magi. It would be really interesting.

I do agree about the CC and LOS stuff. That's why I didn't ask for that. XD

I think it will really depend on how good and from what future raids glamour will come from

Its the F2P model that seems to be winning people over, look at whats on the horizon....and by horizon I mean this year, Blade and Soul, Black Desert....star citizen...seriously there are some real contenders coming, Blade and soul will be the top of my list cause I played it in the CN and TW versions and absolutely loved it, especially the PVP and free flow freedom of movement and parkour.

I don't know how other players feel but if the next expansion that comes out is another realm reborn (that is exactly what Heavensward is) I am done.
Still don't know where I will move as I want huge MMO with some nice raiding and story, but I also want my MMO to improve and expand a lot. Which is not happening with FFXIV at this moment.

All we get are new dungeons, new raids, new generic quests.. nothing new (except G saucer).

I have read through six pages and everyone forgets that XI also didn't have a definite trinity. Yea they had healer, dps, and tanks but depending on your subclass, some dps jobs could tank. Same for DPS classes that could heal. Then of course there were tanks who could dps. But in XIV you have the trinity and no wiggle room unless you do content as premade groups.

Well, their backend is not well designed for the kind of game they are working on. I've already been forced to create a new character just to keep playing because I was too active in running dungeons and leveling multiple jobs in FFXIV:ARR 2.0 on my first character. No one wants to pay another $24 a year per extra retainer and neither will anyone want to throw out vanity gear representing many hours of gameplay. The inventory system will be the death of FFXIV because it presents a wall that every player will inevitably hit the longer they play FFXIV:ARR, and the current solution is not acceptable in an era where subscription fees are unpopular. Fixing the back end will be a lot of work, probably diverting developers away from making new content.

Incorrect. They definitely had the trinity.

What you meant to say was that there were no defined ROLES. Or more accurately, they were more loosely defined. A PLD in FFXI was pretty much resigned to being a tank, but a NIN could do DPS or Tank. A RDM or SMN could do healing or DPS. This is something I wish FFXIV had more of. Every job, IMO, should have a "DPS stance" and be able to queue both for their "specialty" role and DPS.

yea 3 completely new jobs is nothing new...
Flying mounts are also nothing new which means they can do some crazy stuff with the zones.
