V2.0 characters proportions have been simplified, to make armor scaling simpler and easier to do. Even though alot of armor on certain races gender look misplaced due to spacing issues. So keep on convincing yourself that 2.0 looks so amazing and 1.0 didnt, it will still be wrong.

The point I'm trying to make here, is that some of you go "oh the character animations were better"... yeah but the world was not as great as you think it was. V1.0's lighting was actually pretty terrible, and weather/day effects (like the Mor Dhona gloom) were actually terrible.

You are pretty blind if you think the lack of detail and lighting makes 2.0 look better. It looks fine, but it's not better than 1.0.

By the way, weather effect in mor dhona.

If SE ever gets the idea of a graphical update to this game, I hope they set the bar at 1.0 good.

On the flip side, if you play ARR on low quality settings, it still looks pretty good. If you played 1.0 on low quality settings, well...

We already got our graphical update.

And the game now has better lighting (especially world lighting as it has an actual day/night cycle now versus the half-assed crap that was in 1.0), better post-processing (1.0 bloom was WAY overdone), better AO (HBAO+ is godlike, especially compared to 1.0 AO which had a HUGE performance impact and barely did anything anyway), better shadowing (including self-shadowing), tessellated water, parallax occlusion mapping, screen-space local reflections, actual weather effects, and overall MUCH better performance.

The only thing they have left graphically are, again, the textures and the character animations. Seriously, there is nothing else left. I seriously don't understand you guys when you say 1.0 looked better.

We could nitpick differences. But saying texture and animations are the only things left...

Those are pretty huge parts of the athstetic appeal. 3.0 has some amazing lighting but it still can't beat the overall appeal 1.0 had. Lighting in 1.0 was bad but it did draw distance and model quality far better.

Hell if they did 1.0 a bit smarter from the start it wouldn't have chugged so bad and looked just as good.

I did not get this for ps4, which is what I'm playing on now, nor does that fix the character models, animations, etc. I'm not getting this absurd notion of having this sort of attitude on people that do not adamantly hate 1.0.

I'm not even saying 3.0 is a bad game.

1.0 ate a power supply, cost $80 for a paperweight, made me fall in love with miqo only to leave her scared and alone when I couldn't play anymore. Was massively laggy again my computers fault, made me realize how ffxi really wasn't that bad and made me play WoW because of comparable graphical quality. Brought me back to ffxiv when they rebooted and brought me joyfully home to my beloved Miqo. Gave me nightmares about the original shroud seen in slow motion...

Like in V2.0/3.0 how far away does that look. I'd say it looks like it's maybe 100 meters away. In V1.0 It looks like it's much farther away and MUCH larger.

I am speaking of character customization remember my pc at the time was not strong enough to really render ffxiv so my entire graphical experience was with what I could see, my character. FFXI always came short on customization, Phantasy Star by comparison gave greater options, FFXIV also had a lot of options the character felt like it was mine and unique. When I Say comparable Grapical Quality I am referring to character creation and WoW or Phantasy Star had that market Cornered with proper precision of language I guess I used the wrong term so sorry
