Don't you love how this weapon of legend is obtained by doing tasks meant for a lvl 20? At no point are you CHALLENGED. It is ridiculous. Farm and cap, buy something, farm and cap, buy something. Raid content should always drop better rewards than you can get by just farming the same dungeons over and over, but maybe that's just me.
But as much work and camping and MONEY that has gone into Novus upgrades it should at least be on par with the best weapon drops at any given time. They should put in more upgrades past Nexus, let it be something we can have for a looooong time and still be useful. -

Players act like the i120-130 gear is easily accessible. The poetic gear is locked behind a weekly cap. It takes 3 months to cap a single job. Even the weapon requires a coil drop. The OP is a PLD and tanks don't get the poetic weapon item until the 5th or 6th clear assuming their group knows what they are doing.
Nexus weapons will be very relevant for the next couple months and by that time there will be another stage making them i120+ -

But yeah... I honestly feel that you should at least do everything that's available in the game to get the ultimate lewt. If relic is going to be the best weapon in the game, then it should at least require you to step into the highest tier of PvE (which means Coil.) I don't want it to be possible for people to get BiS equipment without ever having to step foot in the current content.
In the end though, the relic quest line just lacks any reason to do it other than to be a time sink. The model of the weapon is ok. The storyline/lore sucks, and it doesn't offer any aesthetic bonuses other than a glow. Nerfing the atma step was a step in the right direction, at least we can call it something that can be progressed on your own time gradually. Really I feel the problem is less about the relic weapon itself and more on the progression of gear with each patch.
The damned Scholar person keeps on insisting otherwise...though he also insists my weapon has newfound power when I handed over the 12 Atmas, so I think he's delusional or somethin... Especially with all the praise Gerlot gets as a Master Blacksmith...yet his apprentice (whom he hardly trains mind you) can augment your equipment to be stronger than current relic. Really that's my gripe with calling this a quest line for a weapon of the olde.Quote:

Well, my complaining aside - they can't be epic. The design is one of planned obsolescence with VERY quick turnover in gear. They really can't fit in a good quest because
1. It has to be doable in the small window where the weapon might be somewhat useful -and-
2. It can't be too lengthy or detailed, because it will be obsolete soon - so the investment has to be pretty much a form of controlled grinding to fit in with the overall theme of content
The overall game design just doesn't support anything too epic. -
