All that means if there will be a massive increase in TERRIBLE summoners, if it was changed to pet focused job.

The biggest point of all is that the class is, has been and will continue to be what it is. It's been a year, if they were going to make any massive changes based on player reactions they would have done so within the first month of SMN's release. Not to mention they would have to change how ACN works which would affect how SCH works.
There's literally no point. I've explained it dozens of times and I really don't understand why people keep making these kinds of threads. Talk about the existing class and get good at it, don't bother with hypotheticals and whining that will never exist.
For once, I'm going take part in a discussion although I don't want to make myself a target for the haters.
My question is what is up with all the negativity when it comes to people who have ideas and opinions about wanting stuff to change. If you hate these threads so much then why are you here at all?
And if you can't take peoples opinions seriously and have to resort to calling people names then you, in my opinion, shouldn't be here.
And please stop with comments like: "This will never happen, period".
That's just a very lousy argument.
If you feel like you absolutely have to point out where someone's wrong then do it nicely. Even though you have been here for a year, and you've seen things come and go, there are new people arriving every single day and not all of them are aware of how things were before they came.
Just remember. You don't have to be here for our sake. We can live without your negative response.
I like the current Summoner, and I'd be ok with nothing being done, but that doesn't mean I'm happy being quiet about it, also I don't understand why you feel like you're entitled to put me down just because you're jaded on the topic, it doesn't matter how long people ask for it, serious changes just aren't a priority right now, and I'm aware of it. That doesn't mean I can't talk about what I'd like to see, I have no ill intentions in speaking my mind.
P.S: there isn't much to talk about regarding the current class, it's a simple learning curve, there isn't anything in-depth to talk about yet.
I don't see the problem with people making theoretical improvements (I vaguely remember someone mentioning buffing Ifrit by allowing one of his longer CD's to act as sort of a fester, I support this) but I -DO- have a problem with people forcing their opinions that "This isn't summoner so stop calling it that". Fact of the matter is, with the current play style that the devs intended, Non-MMO style summoning is impossible and improbable; FFXI summoning is improbable. That's not to say that, say, there aren't improvements to be made, because there always will be in the name of balance.
I know what you mean, I think people are just trying to be drastic so the devs will get the hint that we'd like the Summoner to be looked at a bit more, but they most likely don't want ALL the changes that they're saying, I mean the players don't have to worry about balance, that's the devs' job, so basically they're safe to be as drastic as they want with their ideas. Although changing things within balance is kind of impossible, because you can't determine how new content will change the game's balance until it actually comes out, that's why we have the smaller patches.
