And i'm pretty sure i said i wasn't throwing my whm away, rather i intend to level another healing class that shares most of my gear that got some nice fixes and a buff this patch.

a potency of 100 over 15 seconds or 50 over 30 is the exact same ending results. It might change the course of the fight or it's use slightly, but the end result is the same. Besides, WHM is not my main for coil, blm is, and I'm still at the start so I can't comment on T4-T5 from any perspective. I'm just using maths here, the final potency on medica is exactly the same. The pratical side of it is different, i'll grant you that.

The end result changes not because of the potency but the duration.

No one is going to leave a raid damaged and let medica 2 tick for 30 secs to get the healing out of it and avoid overhealing. The raid will be topped off either by necessity from you or the sch and the fairy healing.

Medica 2 generated extra threat from overhealing usually because the raid got topped off with either medica, succor or whispering dawn but it was a few ticks. Having a 30 sec heal will mean that it will tick longer on a fully topped off raid and not just be a waste but a threat generator. Just because the hot is longer and weaker doesn't mean you can afford to just let the raid sit.

In other games having hots rolling usually was a good thing because threat really wasn't an issue. This game punishes overhealing. Unless they remove the threat from hots its just going to make threat managment difficult.

A: If se turns ff14 into a fotm game, i won't bother to get mad, i'll play a new game.

B. I enjoy being effective and the current sch toolkit (with fairy fixes) is very effective in content i care about, like twintania. I honestly couldn't care less if new ilvl 80 content requires 5 whm with medica 2.

Well I play certain jobs for thematic reasons. Scholar was one of my favorite jobs look wise in ff3 and lore wise. They can be a tank or a dps even and I would still play them, I just find them cool really. So if they were nerfed into the ground, I would still pick them. Since they are essentially one of my favorites.

Not everyone feels the same, but I find it helps me still enjoy said class even if things turn for the worse.

You said you liked pro-active healing more anyway. Sch seems more up your ally to begin with. Its your personal preference not necessarily one class being better over another. You bring up several points on how SCH is clearly the better class than whm, but when you get down to it - you enjoy pro-active rather than reactive and SCH is a pro-active class.

I really like the idea of scholar, but I personally play it very shittily. It doesn't really click with me like whm does. That doesn't mean that SCH is a bad class, or that whm is a superior class. It just means that I play a whm better so I prefer it, it could also mean im an awful player lol! I think the two classes complement each other very well. at the moment, I feel my sch partner and i both pull our own weight in coil. I dunno how she feels lol, but I am happy with how its turned out so far. I've played with some stellar scholars and some pretty awful ones, so it mostly comes down to the player not the class.

Yes, and with the fairy changes i'm really hoping i'll enjoy sch. The only reason i say the sch is borderline better in the first place is certain fights require proactive healing regardless of class. And the sch toolkit is better suited to handle that.

Yeah the first thing i thought of while trying to figure out sch was how to manage my pet... my dumb fairy was out of control. she ran up and tried to attack ifrit as soon as i zoned into bowl of embers. we've had a rocky relationship since then.
