Why is race and nationality ignored so much in the lore? (why does the lore fail)

Like many of the text adventures in the game, the lore is disconnected from the actual world. Go down into the antling nest in XI and you will see a depiction of a great battle between Galkas and ant beastmen, and hear about it in the lore, and actually see how that affects Galkas, and the beastmen in the world.

In this game it's mentioned in passing, but it doesn't really exist. In XI, the lore existed, physically, in the game.

Here you hear about Ala Mhigo refugees, but all you see are token ones in a pugilist fight (why ? random) and one tiny, useless, shallow refugee camp.

They're being lazy with the lore. It's way too superficial.

Guess you didn't pay much attention because I ran inti more of them other then the pgl guild. Butr also understand that they build lore up over time. And that not all lore is presented in game all the time. Much like anima, there is lore with that but people ignore it and want it removed.
AS far as story goes we seen the tip of it.

You're right. This game fails because no one's paying attention whereas you are. Congratulations on your keen skills which unlocks the hidden gem of a game inside.

The lore is detached roleplaying separate from the roleplaying game it's supposed to be about. It's low production random text adventure instead of immersive backstory. That's why it fails. They got away with making TWEWY with no real locations and no real world map...and applied that "cheaper faster just as good" model to this game, everywhere.

It's The World Ends With you-caliber production values extended into the MMO genre, and we should not accept it. Cheap randomized lore that doesn't impact the actual game and is just hung on it is no substitute for taking the time to stitch the lore into the actual game.

I hate being talked to like an outsider of Gridania when I've completed the entire main-scenario. :(

not that im someone, but i too have to agree with this, so far the lore is practically not there and the main story is shallow and doesnt compare (imo) to the THREE starter stories of FFXI.

The lore is written great, the main storyline is entertaining, but honestly neither the lore nor the main storyline has any effect on how I truly feel about the game because it is useless and random as of now. Some of it fits together nicely, and some of it is thought provoking. But most of it is fodder, if you want anime, the lore is filler right now and main storyline was dbz powering up for 8 episodes, and all you wanted to do was fight frieza (sp sorry), or for the youngins it'd be like going to fight ulqi in bleach, and then getting the zanpaktou rebellion :[

Funny, i thought people didn't like to read shit. So all of that bickering over the lore we got was bullshit? WTF is wrong with you peeps? >.>

Hey Nuru people are never satisfied with anything and people need to take their fkin nostalgia goggles off cause everyone basically acting like XI had the best quest ever to date. Most of Xi quest was just run here to x point and get 100g Reward. Only a hand full of quest where actually good and those where chain quest and all those chain quest didn't start as chain quest when first introduced into the game, they just slowly added to them.

They should hire Dan Brown to write the stories. His books may not be good, but they are at least COMPELLING.

FFXIV is not compelling at all.

We need cliffhangers!
