Healer classes should be barred from threat increasing abilities.
This a good run I had this morning. Today I qued for Trials on my PLD, I get Nidhogg. o.o First time in awhile I did Trials with PLD. Ok I haven't exactly cleared Nidhogg for a second time and the first time was with NIN where I died a lot. Though I have attempted it once with PLD when I first tried it. I ended up as the MT after one or two attempts.
A couple more wipes and the party decided to try one more time and on that last attempt we cleared. I felt really accomplished after that because I didn't think I could do it but I did. :D I didn't die other than when we wiped. I was also able to get into the stack and get back into position before Nidhogg cleaved everyone. So it's my second time clearing the fight. xD
Got into a fun party on floors 41-50 in PotD. Entire network proceeds to die for an hour, even making me jog a kilometre or something to ask my Dad how to fix this crap and back, only to get told it came back on its own. Grumble.
Another party, a WHM, a MNK, a DRK and me on AST. We mop the floor, i get stupid lucky on the chests, one being a +2, meaning my 25/30 is 30/30 on floor 44.
We wipe on 48 because the monk went and pulled too many mobs while the tank did his thing (which had worked fine thus far). I'm shrieking internally at this point.
Requeue, same people.
Not a single. Silver. Chest. The. Entire. Run.
Getting the head mount after this is little consolation. I'm sitting on a 26/30 Aetherpool and have to reset to floor 1. This is fine. QvQ
Hmmm yeah that doesn't seem fair. You have the right to weep.
Just out of curiosity, what do you refer to as "AoE bomb"? Meteor? The "everybody stack here" circle? Or did you mean you went to run into the balls circling the arena? The AoE Bleed? The bomb countdown that is not actually AoE?
Just now in an antitower group. Had to remind a smn to use dots and shadowflare, absolutely awful. Their healer friend even complained I was whining too much despite the fact they were doing awful.
I had the terrible misfortune to meet some extremely aweful paladins today (among other idiots - but as a main paladin thats paining me the most...)
Anyways; first story: Wiping city, on my scholar and with a friend as co-healer on ast. We get in and some of the dps seem to know each other from previous runs and they take right off, shittalking other people in the alliance (funny enough: they turn out to be... not to great themselves...). Our paladin tank has a weird mix of gear, but is all fine mostly - except for two little things: Hes not tanking the adds right at the start, so we have a croco running amok. Thats no biggie though, guess I wont leave all the healing to Selene for once and throw some spells out myself... We get to the first boss and he wants to maintank - sure, Selene can still mostly solo heal this with me&friend helping her now and then. If... well, if the tank knows how to tank and uses his cooldowns. During the whole run I saw him use a cooldown four times. And I had him on focus target. I asked him several time to use them - specially sentinel and fight or flight - but he didnt and only said "sorry"... yeah, sorry, for reaching level 60 without knowing how to play your job, I guess?
Meanwhile we were also struggeling with this BLM who would stand in everything bad and avoid anything good (like the barriere during the tombstone-miniboss... yep, he died to that. I dont raise people who die to that anymore btw). All in all a very unpleasent run, since the other partys were also struggeling and we had that early pulling ninja in A who must have been in a hurry and did not care that that didnt helped at all...
Second story: we choose to a8 to get said friend a shaft, I'm on war this time, hes on blm. We get in and get a new (I assume he was the one giving us the bonus) paladin-tank. Even though his equip was a lot worse than mine, I choose to OT because hes keeping shield-oath up. A decision I instantly regret when he starts going for a walk with the boss, pulling him to the edge, then into one corner, then into another one. I ask him to stand still and get hit with megabeam while typing. Standing still is to complicated for him though and since I'm pretty fed up with bad tanks for the day, I provoke the boss and tank the rest. Exceeeeept... there is no rest - dps fails to destroy the little adds or kill the boss fast enough for the phase transition, so we wipe. I inform the paladin that I'm going to MT now and he might aswell switch to Sword Oath. He refuses and tells me how I "died" and didnt dodge the beam and therefor cant maintank. I have it and just pull... and get really confused when he provokes. I tell him a tank switch isnt needed, because I know very well how to use my cooldowns, wont die and would actually prefer it if he'd just stayed put. He starts explaining the strat again and how there normally is a tank switch (...is there really? I've never did it that way) and in the end he drops a line that made me and my friend laugh so much that our pain got comforted a little: "if you can resist , ok" - I know that my english isnt perfect either but... resisting a sexy Brutalus-machine-boss in A8 is just to good...
(a healer dc'd mid-fight btw, so we wiped... with a not-very-good-dragoon finding some not-so-nice-words for the healer with the connection issue and then informing us that he would leave, sorry!)
Did Trial Roulette, got a newbie White Mage. :3
I proceeded to explain the fight the simplest way I can. And then I misjudged where I should be standing and proceeded to get hit by Prelude to Slaughter during the second half of the fight, simultaneously somehow being at the perfect distance to get knocked off the platform into the abyss of shame.
I want to go cry in a corner now.
"Wanted a quick trial before bed, just gotta get dem esos yo"
Queued as a tank and cuz of the priviledge it gives, it pops instantly
"Children of the light, do you hear-"
As soon as i loaded in i was the only one left as people leaving instantly.
In some way i got my wish for a quick trial tho.. and went to bed :D
This probably covers quite few experiences others and I have had.
*People queuing while enabling a language they do not speak at all, and not knowing strategies.*
Yes, I understand that you'd want the quicker queue you get that way, but if you do, please make sure you need NO instruction in any instance you might end up that way (or be prepared for terrible playing you can do nothing about, if you are the more skilled player doing this, and deal with the consequences of your queue choice).
Autotranslate only gets us so far.
3 times this week alone, I have run into ROGs and NINs who fail to put on a poison at the start of a dungeon. 2 of them put on a poison after being reminded to, halfway through.
Of those 3, 2 were NINs, who also never used Huton.
That lovely feeling when you see 2 NINs, 1 using poison and Huton and generally doing everything a NIN should be doing, while the other uses neither, spams Raiton whenever it comes up (in level 50 content, great), and eventually dies.
The worst part was the bloody AST using cards on the NIN who was basically being dead weight. Like, what? There is a nice BLM and NIN over here who are actually doing their jobs and could use that Arrow and Balance you just wasted, hello?
Queued for Trial, got Shiva, WAR entered Defiance, so I did Sword Oath, stand around for 30 seconds, WAR pulls, I steal aggro almost instantly, I stand there expecting them to take it back...never happens so I stay in SwO go into MT position & keep aggro the entire fight in Sword Oath. I even stopped attacking Shiva to get all four adds...They started spamming overpower near the end...
They were a mentor with title "mentor" ._.
I got my first terribad Palace of the Dead run today!
Floors 41-50. Two tanks, two DPS. WAR puts himself on follow on me. Long floor is long. We end up clearing the floor with 2 upgrade chests but then question the obvious afk.
We zone up. He then starts piping up. "wipe plz" spams the chat log like a bad smell. Turns out he doesn't want to party with the other tank for being level 56 on entry. That makes him a speed puller. He then proceeds to grab the whole floor and we inevitably wipe.
You know what I'd do if I didn't want to party with someone and skip a run? Wipe us deliberately at floor 41 instead of whining 10-15 minutes in. Would've saved us all some trouble!
At least he didn't bail at Edda I guess.
Finished Sohr Khai in 16 minutes \o/
Was actually reminded of this event that probably happened around 1.5 years ago?
I joined a new FC since my previous one disbanded. One of the tanks in the FC asked if I wanted to do roulette, I said yes and joined as a WHM. Before we join DF tank says to me "yo (n word) you're on my side get it." Me not wanting to be rube dispite being faced with a racist officer in my new FC I said "OK" (was on edge about this guy).
We join and I think it was Halatali HM and this object I was with immediately said to the DPS "yo this healer is with me so you's better do what we (f word) say." At this point I want an eject button from life, DPS rightfully ignore this object. Throughout the run the tank was doing an awful job of holding agro and the DPS started complaining, I also backed them up, object takes offence to this, que more profanities. Eventually we finish, tank leaves telling DPS they're awful, once he has left I beg and profusely apologise to the DPS saying that they were great and to ignore him.
When I leave the dungeon object chews me out for not siding with his racist ass. I leave FC. Sad thing is I still see this person running around and probably terrorising people. Not sure about the FC but never again.
so i was farming A5/A6 last night for bolts to gear my newly leveled War and this happened:
we were at 34% of twinkledinks, and both of the healers died to the bombs, i was on war, the mt was a pld, we had 2 monks, 1 blm, and a bard
pld was at like 12k hp remaning and tank buster started
he was spamming cds and clemency to stay alive as long as possible, he died right after getting concussed, i took tank buster (switch from dps to tank stance when i saw the healers die) so i had about 25k hp, i lost about 3k hp from the hit because i couldn't even use foresight, it was an instant turn and hit.
a monk used LB2/3, brought him down to 13%
he used the aoe lightning attack, took out 1 monk
then went straight into boost, the bard sacrificed himself to keep the goo up for the blm, last remaining monk, and me
i was at about 20k hp left at this point, used every single cooldown and survived until 0.5% hp remaining
blm die to roomwide aoe after doing a flare, convert, flare combo
i was at like 5k hp, monk was at like 2k hp
i die
0.1%
monk kills him and dies at the same time
we got the clear.
Most insane run i've ever had of that place XD
Hmm reminded me of when one day I had a pair of NINs in ARF. At the start one was using Huton, one was using poisons. I pointed out how silly this looked. The huton NIN went "oh whoops", dipped his knives in wasp venom and then proceeded to be great at everything from there onwards. The other... I saw huton once on him. This was also the run where I learned that the second boss will eventually loop his transformations. I'd never seen that before.
Wow and this on Cerberus, I have seen mostly good People (bad ones were actually exceptions)
I do not see the outer World mostly as I hide myself in the FC Area, things like Idyllshire though ... force me to get out of my protective Area.
Good Choice you did though, going for mentality the Tank had, that was just purely a Troll Attempt which in the end failed as he has shoot himself in the knees lol
Reporting in for another "I dun screwed up" moment.
I usually remove my accessories before trial roulette so I can avoid getting Sephirot EX. (I'm absolutely awful at it and don't want to subject other people to it. Yeah, that bad.) Well, I forgot to re-equip them. For trial and leveling roulette. I feel like a complete dunce now. >.>
I que for Aery as tank. Duty starts, no one's new, so I pull the first two groups and then have to go into holmgang because the SCH isn't keeping up, and then when that wears off, I die. Waiting for raise, no raise. Reset, SCH leaves. Yeah, if you can't handle the first two pulls in Aery, might as well stop rolling SCH. :|
So I was just in an hour long Sohm Al. Yes, an hour long. Proof:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...016_222810.png
String of events...
- I wanted to level my AST, so I queued as that.
- on the second pull, the tank fails to hold aggro on anything. I die.
- there are about another 10 deaths between respawns, and the trash resets
- tank leaves
- a DPS runs up and pulls the next pack; the other DPS leaves. The remaining DPS and I die.
- DPS leaves; two new ones join (the two in the screen)
- we wait for like 10 mins, and then I offer to leave the group as AST and queue up as tank to get us a healer. Sure enough, I requeue for in-progress and we get a healer
- we get to the first boss. I say, "tunnel boss" as I sit in damage stance to help burst it down.
- healer says, "one second..." and I notice she is targeting me on and off, presumably inspecting me. Then she says, "Nope, I'm getting out of here with this dumb tank that doesn't know his job." Drops.
- we wait another 5 minutes for a healer. A healer joins!
- ... this new healer is the tank from before. He says, "... oh boy" and drops.
- we wait another 5 minutes and finally get the healer screened.
- we finally clear the place.
At least the party at the end was full of awesome people, but yeah. That just happened.
I vaguely remember the first time I ever ran Sohr Khai. I'm not sure how to spell it. I loaded in as BLM, and everyone in the party was new because this was like 3 days after patch day. We had nothing but a tentative reddit thread to guide us through the place. Still finished it within half an hour.
The latest run I had of Sohr Khai, there was me, a PLD, a WHM, and a BLM. Both WHM and BLM are new, and while BLM is polite enough to admit it, nothing from the WHM.
It took over a solid hour to clear that hellhole. This when we have countless guides out on the internet explaining every aspect of the boss mechanics. The PLD dropped halfway through, and luckily we got a replacement quickly enough. I honestly don't blame them for dropping, because this WHM managed to get us wiped to trash, multiple wipes at the pegasus, and generally left me wishing I could just leave too, but I queued as a BLM and damn those DPS queues...
*Provided that you are geared enough, and the tank is geared and competent enough (based on that sudden leave and lack of rezzing I'm going to guess this was not a case of insufficient gear, but simply of insufficient skill on the SCH's part).
And not "stop rolling SCH", but "learn to play the class properly". There is a difference between encouraging better playing and telling someone to stop playing.
Just got out of leveling roulette. Wife and I were trying to help a buddy get conjurer to 30, and we were dual summoner. We get Tam-Tara, and the paladin tank leaves on us within the first few minutes. I cant imagine why, because we were killing things easily, and the only problems with aggro was because he was shy about using Flash (maybe once every other pack) and healer would pick up aggro. Instead of trying for another tank, I break out my chicken nugget and proceed to tank the rest of the instance. best part is, we cleared within the first thirty minutes, meaning as of this post, Mr. Pally's still on his 30 minute penalty!
Just got out of Trial Roulette with the Heavensward final boss, so you know it's plot important and someone was watching the cutscene. After standing around for a bit, someone piped up, "WTF is taking so long" and just left. Everyone else just "lol" and "xD" and the barrier went down almost immediately after they left. And sure enough 20 Bonus Eso. I felt a little bad for the poor guy who joined at some point during the fight, that can't be fun.
Queued for trial roulette to cap my lore.
Bismarck story mode. Somehow ended up together with an FC mate pally currently going through the story. Me and the other healer are both Astros.
We try to coordinate our card usage, but still end up overwriting each other's cards all the time. We just have a shared laugh about it.
We then watch in silent terror as the entire group aside from us and one ranged dps gets hit by the gigantic unmarked rain weather AoE. The one that inflicts vulnerability up. We still clear first time rather easily, a dead dps or two and tanks taking unusually high damage not withstanding.
I learned later that my FC mate had gone in there blind. Did a rather good job if you exclude the one rain AoE mishap. Just left me curious how many other people just happened to queue in there blind at the same time, and how many were actually just bad.
Sohr Khai. Before the first boss, the WHM asks if anyone is running a parser. Both SMN and I say we don't while the DRK is like "seriously, parsing in a dungeon!?" and thus refuses to run theirs. WHM explains they just wanna know about their DPS, and it's obvious they care a lot about their damage as they let the DRK always drop dangerously low, but there are no deaths, so I don't really care.
Then, at the final boss, the WHM is DPSing so hard that everyone drops to ca. 1000 HP, and they start healing when the DRK is already in Walking Dead for 3 seconds (don't ask me if their Benediction was on CD at this moment). SMN dies, the rest barely survives, and when the fight is over, the DRK asks sarcastically, "So, how was your DPS?" and the WHM is just like "dunno, you refused to run your parser". ._.
So I got a bit of a funny moment in PotD. Running floors 41-50 on an alt, (party was 3 SMNs and a MNK, and each SMN had a different egi out) and at floor 48 we got the enchantments hp down, natural regen disabled, and gloom. Luckily the floor was short, so we got through it pretty fast, but carefully. Then, as we're all gathering onto the teleporter, just so that floor can give us one last middle finger, a gravekeeper spawns and aggros onto us. We were all about half hp and the gravekeeper ends up killing all 3 of the SMNs while the MNK survives and is able to go back to the Cairin of Return to revive us. We managed to beat the last two floors no problem and got my gear to go from 29/26 to 30/29.
My girlfriend, who goes by Selli on the forums, had her forum account permabanned for her reply to a post in this thread. I'm not going to go too heavily into why, as I assume that's also against the ToS or something. But it's been 3 weeks and she's had no luck appealing the ban so I don't expect her to ever be allowed to return.
However, we both feel the point of her post is something that should remain within the community. So she has edited her original post to avoid getting my account banned for the same reasons as hers (I hope) and I'm going to re-post it for herI think I'm going to have to ask her how to get past the character limit because I have no idea.
(*I'd like to take this moment to point out that the only thing changed in this post is the language. The point of this post is exactly the same as the original)
She wishes you all well and hope you have fun in game and on the forums.Quote:

Trying to be nice, and knowing they are new, I say "hey nin, you don't have a poison on :D". It's easily done, I know I've forgotten to put a poison on before somehow lol
Met with silence.
I say it again, thinking maybe they didn't see chat.
None of this is a big deal until then the TANK speaks up, and says "they are new".
I say "yes I noticed that, know they are learning".
Tank replies again with "they are new"
I say that a poison is just flat damage increase, may as well just turn one of them on.
Tank says "they are multitasking".
I say "but it's just click one button once?"
Tank says "leave them alone"
I wasn't rude or aggressive or anything, but why would someone else purposely defend a friend's (presumably) bad play, and actually be teaching them the wrong thing
