I think the larger point is *priorities*. If you got kid aggro that's impossible to gauge maybe you should log and come back later. I get it stuff happens but there's a difference between life happening and having to afk every few minutes.
A dragoon last night. New to Temple of the Fist. So I check his gear. Apart from a couple of greens, he's in 68 leveling gear. This also means he hasn't done his Level 70 quest and gotten his level 70 skill.. So pretty much carried through the final two areas.
So we proceed to run the instance. We notice Heavy Thrust isn't being used. We can keep on asking for Heavy Thrust through auto translate and no response. We get to the second boss and someone starts using google translate to ask why Heavy Thrust isn't being used. The response? It doesn't combo off Ring of Thorns anymore so he's not been using it. That's 15% damage lost.. He said he would 'test' using it.
He got booted.
Going lvl 70 story dungeon from EX roulette. Run goes well but I put on a regen while DRK double pulls. He proceeds to rage saying I am a shitty healer. Then on the last pull before the boss he challenges me to use regen on him before the single(!) pull to show me what would happen. I decline of course and he pulls without holding aggro and kills the other 2 dps because of it. I reluctantly initiate to solo tank one of the golems while he continues to mock my efforts and doesn't help. I told him this was kick worthy behavior and he challenges me some more. So I told him I would initiate a vote kick after I was done with the golem. Turns out they were all premade and they kicked me. How he could fool his own teammates but not me? I guess I must be the shittiest healer around.
Hope they choke on that pride of theirs.
As much as I will be called a "bad" healer for saying this, if I'm going to DPS, you bet your ass you're getting a regen on the tank. Boss does an arena wide AoE, and won't be using another skill on other party members other than tank for a bit? Medica II. The more I can divert to DPS, the sooner those who are trying to rush can get out, so they better not complain when I could throw the odd damage spell, and mainly heal if I so choose.
Definitely agree with this, agro is very easy to keep for tanks these days. It is not like 2.0 release when AE agro was tricky and regen or medica II actually caused a lot of healer agro. In all groups I do, I feel out the tank and how well they tank and dps as much as I can fit in while keeping the group alive. Faster roulette makes everyone happier.
Very late to post this content story, but reading through some of these brings up memories of Party Finder T9 when it was relevant content. While not Duty Finder, Party Finder can be just as silly.
Tank starts off with "Don't be crae, or you'll be booted"
Tank pulls with no shield oath, Nael murders him. Tank doesn't say a word.
Restart, we flawlessly cleared.
A lot of the times where I'm seeing tanks lose agro, it's because they aren't using Flash/Unleash/Overpower more than once a pull. I learned early on to use whichever one, respective of the class I'm on, depending on the number of enemies in the pull. 1-3 = equal number of flashes/unleash/overpower. 4+=3-4 of it, randomly if I notice someone is taking agro on more than one enemy. I also never focus ALL my rotation on one enemy unless it's needed. Every hit is a different enemy, throwing in other damage skills so the top enmity generator isn't on the same one all the time.
