i got no hurry.
As long as it's not as lame and boring as the last patch :|
Well considering they've already shaved content out of it which everyone was really excited for (Hamlet defense) I'd rather have another delay (you bet I'll have another sig about that) than more content cut.
But with me saying that I'm sure they'll take out a raid or something just to piss us off.
A friday without news? This... is odd. :|
Reinhart's JP to English translation has some new stuff. Nothing on lodestone, but the JP forums have been active. Check it out. For those of us hoping for 1.21, it says Yoshi-P is going over the job quests one last time or something.
A whole week without updating the Lodestone at all, impressive SE.
I follow the translations thread very closely and they have been releasing little tidbits here and there, but they can't possibly expect everyone to be on the dev tracker all the time... The fact that they just refuse to update the lodestone is a bit disconcerning honestly.
While they did say they would update us soon on the situation with 1.21, I don't see why they couldn't add any form of information on 1.21, even could of put something small people don't care about. I think not updating Lodestone at all in a week is a really bad idea and people will start losing interest. Personally I could care less, because I have a good idea on everything coming up, at least the large chunks, all I want is a date, but I can understand people looking forward to more information, and then they decide it is necessary to not update Lodestone at all for a week.
Ok so I went back to Yoshi's last letter From January 31, and here is the quote:
"I’d also like to share some info on the release schedule for 1.21. We’d originally aimed for the patch to go live in the second week of February, but after looking over the amount of content and all the accompanying UI changes, localization, balancing, QA’ing, and such, we’re currently looking at a delay of about two weeks. We’re pushing really hard for an end-of-February release, but ask that you wait a bit and keep an eye on the announcements we’ll be making on the forums and in Topics regarding details. (Don’t worry, none of this will have any effect on the version 2.0 schedule!)
What announcements!!!???
The last f*** I give is wearing thin. -.-
Maybe they are on vacation atm from the money we paid them... who knows... but at least that would explain the delay... <.<
but on a sidenote... what is that shit? Planning a patch, give out a date and THEN look into it, notice that is more work then expected and delay it for that reason and not even giving us informations?
At least we paid already heh SE?`
You pay to play the game, not to get updates. I don't recall them ever giving a specific "we will release the patch on this date," rather just gave us a vague "we are trying to get it out by this date, but may not reach that." They have told us of a delay, and they have said that once QAing the jobs quest they will be able to give an actual release date. Chill out. It's not like we have gone two weeks or more without information.
It may have been mentioned somewhere before, but going back to the December update I found that the pre-patch day "patch notes" were released on the 12th, and the patch & official notes hit on the 15th. That's only 3 days prior to the actual patching. I didn't really dig back further to see if that was a trend we've just forgotten, but it might help explain.
I do think they should at least give us a confirmation, or let us know if delays are happening. Personally, I think they are worried there will be a delay and are crunching, but think it may be possible to meet the deadline and thus don't wish to tell us it will take longer, but cannot promise it will come on March 1st.
Despite how much I really want this content now, I also want it complete and with as few bugs as possible. As someone who's experienced game design processes, that's a hell of a chore that can seem on-track until the last second where something breaks.
Just have patience... if you've played any MMO for more than 1 patch you know this kind of thing happens all the time and should be very use to it and (realistically) understanding.
And as someone who has played any MMO for more than 1 patch, I also know that part will never happen.
We're "due" for a patch, and as human beings we have a right to make it the most important thing in the known universe. Now if you'll forgive me, I need to go neglect work, sleep, and food to F5 the lodestone.
What your saying rings true for offline games, but this is certainly not the case here.
When I pay for an online game with a continuing fee, i expect a certain level of customer service and communication.
It's one of the reason's people choose to play online as opposed to offline. The game is constantly being updated, in a way that theres usually almost always somthing to do and usually, the developers will make it their priority to assist their player base as efficiently as possible.
Communication has been pretty sound upto subscriptions. I am personally baffled by this, as you'd expect an even higher level of service and communication when the game went from Free to play to charge-worthy for a game where players trust was still being earnt back.
Updates are now spasmodic and irrelavant at best. I.E - Making announcements only to retract them days later / Doubling up on announcements / Failure to provide concrete information we've been dieing for instead of vague reform information or even the shitty lore posts taking the place of any sound infromation.
I personally am fine with the delay in such a collosal patch, but with so much information left that could be covered, being angry or dissapointed is warranted.
It's actually funny that "White Knightism" has died down significantly in the past week or two. I guess everyone has their breaking point.

I didn't notice this last time. This was the only thing I cared about mainly. However I would be lying if I said FFXIV isn't starting to wear thin on my patience. I'm starting to get really bored. Only so much crafting a Hyur can take!
how hard is it to update loadstone with something, anything, seriously, this is frikkin ridiculous.
On that note, bitching about the patch or info isn't going to make it come any faster. I understand we're all a little anxious for the patch but bashing SE for not giving us the info we want the exact moment we want it isn't helping anyone. It just makes the NA community look like a bunch of bitchy whiners. Am I a little disappointed when I log in and see nothing on Lodestone? Sometimes but I don't come to the forum and bash SE for it. Seriously, they'll give us the info when they want to and not a minute sooner, nothing we can do about it.
I kind of expected to go a week without info because of them having to change their plans on the merge.
There's a difference between feedback and just bitching about not getting the info you want when you want it. This thread is comprised mostly of the latter. Not to mention the blatant bashing of the devs and SE for no real reason other than impatience. I'm just saying that bitching isn't going to help anything, sick of seeing it actually.
You make it sound like we're for the patch itself. Everyone's asking for information on a patch that was already supposed to be released. That's not a big ask. At all.
Theres a reason a lot of people have been complaining recently more than ever. Communication is at a critical low point at one of the biggest hurdles in FFXIV so far.
Defend SE's reputation, lecture people on patience, but don't belittle people opinions or feelings that don't coincide with your own.
It's ironic that white knights are more abrasive than the people who are complaining.
Whatever, have your complaint thread here. I'm done with it.
Massive complaining got them to change the server merge method to an option that makes sense.
If they want us to do something other than complain, give us something to discuss. Are we supposed to be discussing the moogle primal 2 and a half months after it was implemented?
Meanwhile on FFXI's official website they had two updates today. Their fifth and sixth update this week alone.
Maybe they still don't think we've calmed down enough after the server merge hoopla.
SO, where the hell is the development information?
I assumed we would start getting some more communication between the devs and the players. Especially this close to the largest patch in FFXIV to date.
Guess I'm a sucker for thinking us (now paying customers) would get treated any differently.
/losing patience
Deadline is pretty much up for the tolerance of silence between them and us imo.
You can make an amazing game all you want, but if people get fed up and leave because of poor communication between devs and players, forget it.
Changing server merge wouldn't prevent content teams from being able to produce news posts fine detailing jobs, they could have released final details about 1 job, on tuesday and thursday, only using up 2 bits of information, and it would have subdued the masses a little, an entire week of silence is very disconcerting.
Bored today, could do with some news to cheer me up devs !!
Even Doctor Mog is getting restless *readies a tranq-gun*
I am amused.
What gets me is that they keep saying that they're going to have a player poll before 1.21 as well....
It would have no impact on the patch, not require them to commit to any date, and would get us all to shut up for at least another week, but nah screw it we can do it later.
