About the World Merge and Character Transfers (02/09/2012)

Yes I love feedback, but it doesn't have to come out in the form of a temper tantrum ;/
my feed back is that I like the current set up, but I see many strengths to others feedback as well. But we can act a bit more grown up about this, your mothers would be ashamed *bends those who deserve it over her knee*

As a customer since CE and a paying customer since P2P, they need to step up there customer service, this is bull and the people who are for it, mustn't see the other side that others are speaking from...

and yes we do have time to prepare, why should we tho? we have our damn community.. we all would love a merger, but at the expense of possibly losing friends is pretty lackluster specially since our *Bond* with community is so important, but they are all for easily tearing our community apart.. F That!!

Yoshida did specifically ask for constructive feedback, not "OMG SE YOU RUINED MY LIFE BECAUSE I CANT CONTACT MY FRIENDS OUTSIDE OF THE GAME TO COORDINATE A NEW SERVER TO JOIN WITH THEM. IM ALSO IN 7 LINKSHELLS THAT HAS 100 MEMBERS EACH AND WE MAY BE SEPARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATED."

Seriously on Lindblum LSes are always reforming for one reason or another. Besides theres no achievement for having the longest established LS without reforms.

It's all laziness.

SE is letting us all decide if we want to switch or not.

There's two sides to every coin: maybe some ppl WANT to change servers just to meet new ppl. Well this way at least both sides get the option.

SE is trying to compliment both needs.

And yes there's a varietable amount of ways this can be done and yes these forums are for player feedback, but the majority of posters are downright crying and bitching like little children. How is that "constructive criticism"? It's just plain belligerence. There's nothing "constructive" about the way most ppl are presenting their concerns.

Maybe the linkshells you join have a tendency to break up, but Savepoint has been around since CE, and while yes we are currently viewing our options and contacting other shells and making sure our community stays together, its an inconvenience for nooooooooo reason.. thats what I think you are not understanding.. Option 1-3 are far superior and more affordable options but SE being SE has to think outside the box..

He doesn't address all our concerns, even though some people are saying "selbina is 5", there are ls that might make autonomous decisions to move to another server, it sucks when you have to pick which of you're ls's you're the most committed to, and will think will have enough returning players after the server merge. Following my friend on the lodestone doesn't help me if they get moved to another server. Do you even have stubborn friends? If my friend logs on and he's on a different server, he won't transfer at 2.0 he'll just quit the game, and move on, because many of us older mmo players are tired of finding new friends, even if its for a couple months until 2.0 comes out, its not worth it to mesh with a new server just to transfer over again, many will just quit playing till the option comes out.

People on the forums forget, not everyone who plays FFXIV is on these forums, there will be people left out of the loop, I mean i'm in college, I dont always play, if I wasn't on the forums, i wouldn't even know about this merge, who knows if i'd check by march, that's prime time for school ass kicking.

You asked for a merge, and they gave you it. Most are unhappy and complaining--so they asked for feed back--IN A NON-"this option is horrible--you guys on crack!?" way. So if you want it changed so bad--say why something else would make more sense then the other--it would help your cause more to exclude the "You guys suck do it this way because I said so" manner...

So like all the server noobs that you LOL at every time they run buy in town will now be on another server and you have to relearn every acquaintance. Strong LS bonds will stay but every guy you kind of like from that party you had with him at level 30 and then that 1 time you did ifrit together and he didnt suck...well no more of those casual bonds. LS group or nothing! I pity people who play casually.

How are you losing friends?

If you didn't talk to them and plan to regroup then how good of friends were you in the first place?

I think ppl are confusing "acquaintance" with "friends that legitimately care"

There are 4 community servers forums for each world I think and most people don't read them.

i think everyone is taking this too serious, just talk to your friends, go to the same place and if you cant, make new friends.

Your right im not here to upset anyone and I am indeed glad he enjoys the game, however perhaps i am just seeing a grumpy day on his behalf and I find it slightly rude to siggy in something that isn't ment to be nice at all. You're assuming that communities are as bad as yours and they are not. Believe it or not there are some servers that have linkshells that generally get along among their selves and get along with other linkshells.

My complaint is that the most logical answer wasn't presented to us the first time. Instead, they give the worst then they get a back lash and suddenly have to eat s#$%. My constructive criticism would be that they are not making intelligent base options for handling their player base and that should worry them.

I don't see where they specified the manner in which the feedback is given. But I would like to know how someone could do a better server merger. Like Yoshi mentioned: Each option has pros and cons.

What I see right now is: "OMG all my friends are scattering" right beside the posts that say "OMG everyone is sticking together anyway." Some people will stick and some people will drift off. There are some players who will have to pick which friends they like the most because their friends are splitting up on different servers.

But that's their choice. Everyone here has a choice. Yoship even made sure that the non-subscribers will have a choice to move in 2.0. So if you don't like where people are going during the merge, take it up with them, not Yoshi.

That's what makes option 2 so great.

"We're merging servers A and B into Z, but you can be in server Y which is C and D combined if you want"

It gives you both direction and freedom. And I don't understand the reasoning behind not choosing it over 4.

Areeya is on my server and we have a great tight nit community, Areeya just must be one of those outcasts(Hence why she/he is all for it :p)...

I am in Kiraboshi and have many awesome acquaintances in other LEes as well as some ppl that I consider legitimate friends.

Did you miss the point of my original post? I was telling people not to call others names. I wasn't insulting anyone specifically, I was just telling people not to be insulting.

Anyway, it doesn't matter how long I've been "officially" active in this community, I've been following FFXIV and these forums closely since launch because it interests me. I've been playing MMOs since the first expansion of Everquest and I have plenty of experience with MMO communities.

I was just telling people to chill out because I'd like to see a bit more rationality and less pointless bickering in this server merge debate, and I tried to do it with a little humor, but I see in your "special" case this attempt backfired.

Kudos to you Vaen. There is too much insulting and it's not fair to discriminate someone for their levels. Many of my roleplay friends didn't have a job over 30 for a year or two, it didn't mean they were not active in the community. I too would like to see a bit more rationality and less bickering. the choice has been made, so lets work on how we will work with this outcome<3

In regards to your sig: Every "normal" server merge that I've ever been a part of has sucked for the people coming in. The people on the larger original server always feel that they own the place and are hostile toward the new people. It's not fun. I'm sure it's not fun for your community to be "ruined", but that's the other side of the coin: All new communities where nobody owns the server.

I like this idea, I'm sorry if you can't understand why.

Don't we have the same problem with the current option? Too many people might choose server 1 and "it might end up going over the set capacity and overflow the World". Aren't there already countermeasures for this - the whole decision period, a server becomes locked when full?

With that out of the way, option ② seems much better than ④ ?

I don't understand why SE did not make a players poll about what we would prefer and just linked it to our login page if it was such a hard decision for their development team.

In the end we will have to suck it up and do whats best for the community and linkshell.. but we are ***king paying customers, who have stuck through thick and thin with this blasphemy of a game, and you bet your asses I feel my opinion matters, we should've had a vote/survey thats very important to anyone playing and hell even people who are inactive... I do understand that SE has the final swing of that hammer, but not without a fight....
