Server doesn't matter, it's the region of the account for stuff like these promos.

Depends what type of account you have, not where you play. When you set up your account originally it would have asked you where you were located, if you chose somewhere in NA, you'd have an NA account, JP, JP account. If you choose nearly anywhere else in the world it makes you an EU account, which only makes this campaign even more insane when you think about it.
Do u know , that UK has just quit EU? UK≠ EU, and EU players come from different countries including none english speaking country. Although english is an international language, but a local magazine from UK doesent mean international.
Did you know that the UK want to leave the European Union (EU) and not Europe (EU) as a continent? smh people like you....
And yes, there is a difference between that. Not every Country of Europe is part of the European Union...
The Promotion is Europe based, not Union based...
This just feels like a big "Screw you" from SE, I always wanted that mount and i would have eagerly upfront paid just too have it along with the maid dress. However sending a shady magazine my photo and a decent amount of money is a bit...well shady haha. Even with this much of an uproar we'll still just get the same crap. :(
As much as I agree this whole campaign was poorly executed and as much as I would like to have the white fat choco mount as an extra optional item,
I'm just going to order issue #308 for the outfits alone for me and a friend and hope the package/code doesn't get lost along the way.
I am going to be honest. I hate this promotion, it's bad taste all around. But, I am weak, and was planning on buying the magazine, very angrily I may add. But now? Not a chance. It has been so many complaints from everyone, and we have been waiting.
Why? Because SE KNOWS we will bend over backwards to try get the outfit. We have seen our Japan friends have it, been jealous, then the NA friends, still jealous. But the "hype" will die down, it has already been way too long for us to even get the chance to get it. Now making us a bad deal like this? Because they know we are desperate enough to do it. It's not a promotion, as the Amazon deal was, buy something you want, and get a bonus! It's literally, pay for the costume and everything, and here, a magazine.
I urge everyone not to buy into this, we are not happy, and they should know it by now. Stand up for us, and don't let the urge to have the maid/butler glamour for a few weeks give them a reason to think we can be treated like this.
Seconded, however, I truly doubt anyone would actually boycott it to the extent it becomes clear to SE we won't stand for this. People not acquainted with the forums, new players to the game wanting the outfit, people buying the magazine out of a deep desire for the glamour(somewhat like myself, except I'm not paying for the magazine) will buy it and not necessarily understand the harm they are doing by enabling the continuation of this shoddy treatment by SE.
Furthermore, remember the mag name? Barely anyone does. Been active for 23 years and has little fanbase, reviews are worthless.
I was going to give in and purchase all 3 to get the chocobo, but have decided the best action is just not even bother for the chocobo. I will wait for the 3rd mag and see if anything comes out for the other EU countries as it'll hopefully be much less of a hassle than all this. I really want that chocobo, but the only thing I am holding out for is the outfits. Hopefully since the first two are not items people are dying to get and peoplpe can't sub to get them, they will end up "semi" boycotted.
I have no seen a good word for this anywhere be it twitter and facebook either and it's certainly disheartening to not hear anything from a mod to see if they are going to make it fair or just an out right no.
The funny thing is there was an official reply, but it was in a thread that's since been taken down I think.
And it completely missed the point of the complaints, basically reassuring people they didn't have to put their face in the verification pic, and that the magazine wasn't going to use the pics for any reason other than the verification.
Which of course isn't at all what the complaints are about.
Are the codes from the magazines all unique? If so, I'm confused why a picture has to be sent in for the fat chocobo. If all 3 are activated on an account, send through the fat chocobo. Only if there's a dispute (someone bought the magazine but someone else already used the code) should proof of purchase be required.
To be honest, I have a feeling that those who will have the patience to try, will most likely be those who will attempt to sell codes for in-game or real money.
I really expect that to happen...
Compared with NA promotional, this is a nightmare IMO. Buying magazine is so... old in this year like, we have internet now... I have JP friend who got NA item code from buying at Amazon and he notice I'm the only one on English LS who use NA account (mostly they're using EU account) so he give me freely (I'm from SEA continent). That's beyond easy compared with EU right now. Idk what my LS responses with this campaign since they love maid attire and white fat chocobo too.
as much as i want that maid outfit...i'm NOT supporting this campaign
This is another reason that I regret making my account EU when I first started , I guess I shouldn't have listen to SE 4 years ago when they told me "create an EU account if you are part of Europe and PAL region area"...
I was so happy this was announced finally (and on my birthday which totally made my day! :D)
The promotion is okay as I was willing to pay any price to get the items, especially that MOUNT! Will feel a little dumb going to the local supermarket to buy TWO copies of EACH magazine just so my partner and I can have the codes... To wait three months is a little kick in the teeth.... But to send a photo of me holding the codes just to get the mount.... Ummm...
Mate, my family and partner can barely get my self confidence up to get a photo of me done for themselves, what makes SE and Games Magazine so sure that people like myself are going to be willing to send a photo of myself to a complete stranger?!
Was it really that hard setting up an online system that we could input the codes into and then the mount would come from that? Surely entering the codes onto our accounts is proof enough that we have possession of them...
43 pages in, still no proper response.
The longer this thread becomes the worse it gets, 14 team. I suggest you do some proper clarification and at least let us know that the next few promotions (in different European countries) will not have these mistakes. I hope these mistakes do not show up again.
Okay ! So i will be the first to say i caved !... Bought the magazine in a store was rather cheap, had cute stickers in. Was all going great, put my codes in and low and behold they fucked up already ! I put in my code for the 50 aetheryte tickets and instead my code was for 30 Jandelaine's tokens which is next months rewards....
Not supporting this promotion AT ALL, but I'm pretty sure that they did this promo because this magazine sends to over 100 countries, so it covers "most" of the countries which play on EU accounts.
I don't even want to know how much some people would have to pay for shipping... + 8.99€ for each magazine. If they had made it so that the chocobo is given to you if you buy ANY of the 3 issues, that would have been acceptable, most probably want the clothes + mount anyhow...
Actually not, July is Jandelaine, Aetheryte comes next month. http://puu.sh/q1knS/0e0bc19ec2.jpg
Oh, on the actual leaflet in the magazine it has "Enter this code for 50 Aetheryte tickets" haha

Wow so first we get informed that people cant even subscribe to two of the three issues and have to buy each solo with the hope that they will not be sold out, at the same day that the campaign was announced which shows really good planning but the magazine itself makes such a mistake on the first issue. xD Well good luck to all of those who will send their picture for the mount. Lets hope that they wont mess that up too..
Still kinda shocked why they took that route as a promotion. Fans angry, the magazine is not sold in big numbers so you wont probably reach a lot of new customers with that promotion so no real win win situation (imo). And to make it even better still no real post from SE. :( (Cluetrain Manifesto rule number 1: Markets are conversations.)
They even get it wrong in the article... ff doesn't even really get spoke about in it either, it takes up 1 page and it's more photos than writing (which is less than half a page). The majority of article is about the giveaway which they got wrong and act as if them "giving away" a 14 day trial is a big deal when you get that anywhere. This magazine is an actual joke, a really bad one at that.

The Online Shop has now sold out of copies:
https://www.myfavouritemagazines.co....016-issue-306/Quote:
Sorry, this item is out of stock. Available from all good retailers
And SE is still going to think there is no demand for this kind of thing in the future in the UK even though the magazine runs out of its SMALL print run
God damn it, I was still considering buying these and they're out of stock...
This is a joke.
This is just a kick in the face. I am just hoping as a UK citizen myself (who btw have NEVER seen this magazine being sold anywhere) will be able to participate in the other ways to get the items with the other fellow EU players outside of the UK. There should be an unlimited supply of codes to go around for everybody with a campaign this fought over and a game this big, the fact its sold out within 48 hours of release is well, expected sure but really lame also because i dont think everyone is going to be given a chance to get the items after all this time, and thats really sad. 48 hours lol..
wait you saw it in asda? hmm i will have to look and see if i can get it, how many were there may i ask?
Supermarkets, WHSmith and Newsagents. I saw copies in all of those.
If people wanted to do the promotion they would of made sure to either be ready at 10am for the sale of the magazine to go up on their website, or pop into a shop to grab a copy. It wasn't hard, and wasn't impossible to find. This is the BIGGEST multi-platform magazine in the UK, and is published by one of the biggest magazine publishers.
Probably about 3-4 but i live in a town rather than a major city so not sure if thats the reasoning behind there being so few but the ones i saw were hidden behind other magazines since it's not really popular
I do hope that SE will be providing a new promotion for EU players after this snafu. I imagine they can't just withdraw from the current offer for legal reasons, but they really need to make it up to you all and give a proper way to obtain the items.
So the issues went live on the website for about 2 hours before being taken down, sold out I assume. We snagged the only two copies left from another distributor. We went into the town, then the city looking for copies - Nothing. REALLY poor distribution here.
I'm not going to defend the situation, since I know literally nothing about its inner detailing. But anyone who has played MMO/MMORPG's long enough, should be familiar that there's always a distinct pattern in terms of how events like these have to be handled, depending on the region. EU has almost always been seen as the most independent of methods in regards to how the event is dealt, and what prizes these events offer. It's unfortunately not a new circumstance, and I can't imagine this ever ending with just SE doing it. Other companies have, and may still suffer similar circumstances.
I'm just shocked that there was no realisation how small GameMaster's Print run actually is and how popular the magazines would be with FFXIV fans hungry for the codes.
At least with the NA deal there was no limit to how many people could get codes the day it started until the day it ended.
I got lucky and managed to order 2 copies for me and my boyfriend before it sold out.
