I'm going to delete my mules, keep my main and probably leave 11. I can't afford both, and the new content is more than what 11 is offering.

Will you be staying with FFXIV once the subscription launches?
Like this post to vote Yes!
I'll do my best: Yes!
wow 400 posts later and there are still ppl saying there leaving. i would have thought you had all left by now. not quite in the hurry your posts lead us to believe. any anyway i love this saying "fanboy"
am i a fan - yes
am i a boy - yes
so is the saying fanboy sposed to be insulting? "oh please don't ecuse me of being a fan, that just nasty" lol. no but really i feel sorry for all the fangirls. why they get missed out. it truely is still a very sexist world we live in :P
They give me a good reason to play >
I m ok that i m gonna have a full new version game for free
i m ok at the curent state of the game , so i m ok to pay
i can't understand why people that don't like the game at the current state want to continue to play and not pay ... for those player is the version 2 >.> and free to download it when it will released
until then , they can find another game to play free or something that deserve to pay it
but i m ok with the version 1 and i want to pay the fees i m very happy with the version 2 :) and i cant wait for the release .
They're being secretive about how much the fee is going to be per month or I haven't found that yet. I admit I have not checked the email yet because the game was given as a gift, already set up. Someone said a lump sum of $150. To that I would absolutely say NO! That would be a very obvious money grab...a clear attempt to grab and go by SE. If it's the usual under $15 per month and a couple bucks per character I'll give it some thought, but I still think it's pretty ballsy of them to have used us as unpaid testers on a NOT READY game for a full year, and even though they admit it's at LEAST a year from being where it belongs, they still expect us to pay. What they lacked it foresight they definitely have in audacity! ...no matter how they cover it up with pretty words of humble thanks and appreciation. That is as sincere as the following smile I have for them ^ ^
ZAM has a large sample and seems the most accurate and extensive poll I've seen so far. It comes out about equal between those who will stay and those who will either quit for good or quit for a year to see if SE is sincere about really putting a playable game together with that subscription money or if they're just making a money grab. I tend to find that more believable than people voting so heavily pro SE on an SE supported site.
This is very true, and the crux of the matter. Throughout the past year, during which we have been unpaid beta testers and had months of grinding undone at the whim of SE not once, not twice, but several times in several ways, the one thing we could use to comfort ourselves was the fact that at least they didn't have the AUDACITY to be charging us for the honor of being abused as players. Now, in the midst of changes assured to change the entire scope of the game literally from the ground up, from character creation to IU to the servers to the maps...literally EVERY SINGLE THING we spend our time on in true Korean F2P Grinder fashion...SE lauds our loyalty, gives us a pat on the back with one hand and reaches into our wallets with the other!
Some of us wascally wabbits with previous experience with SE may be a little less trusting than others and may decide to wait out this transitional process in the "safe" corner and let the more eager experimental bunnies get shocked repeatedly until the maze gets worked out to everyone's satisfaction.
That doesn't make us bad bunnies.
Because the game isn't a beta version.
You may have noticed the last of a beta label, the lack of SE referring to as a beta version since the gold master, the version number of the game being 1.0 or greater. Just because the game didn't meet the expectations of the players that doesn't mean that the game was a beta version.
I called it Retail Version Phase I -Prologue-
I was going to say YES, however since reading about the language-specific servers, then NO. Unless they change their minds ( I hope).
Unless the price is cheap...and I mean very cheap. I won't continue. My wife and I play together, so if the cost is remotely close to what other mmo charge. Forget it. I like the FF team but I don't really feel like funding a developement project that constantly changes the rules of the game while working and raising two children. They promise great things in future...but are we going to have to buy the new 2.0 release or do we just update what we have? I do enjoy the game at the moment and I appreciate their efforts. From what I gathered in their account settings I'm not sure if we are willing to budget that much for a game each month.
Lets keep this thread on the front page to keep the votes coming, really nice to see how many people are willing to stay or go.
The poll on an open site like ZAM can be voted on by anyone, even if they don't have a FFXIV account and wouldn't be affected by it at all either way. People who have no personal stake in the outcome can still cast a vote, and so the results can be diluted - on both sides- by people who haven't bought the game and/or aren't playing it in the first place.
If these forums were open/public, I'd have the same opinion here.
However, they're not.
Since an actual account and an active character in-game are required to post here, those voting have already invested money and/or time into the game. 100% of those answering the poll here are directly affected by subscriptions being enabled.
Thus, I think the poll results here are far more accurate and telling than that of a poll on ZAM, or some other public site where anyone can vote.
i wonder ppl have read the new translation from yoshi-p. something i found intresting was he pointed out its not the game that is 50% but the final fantasy feel. so from what i can see when the party search and AH are adding in 1.20 he thinks this will be a 100% MMO. if not a 100% final fantasy game. i wonder if this has changed any1's mind on paying or not?
Probably not, I'm not too keen on paying for alpha version of the game.
It's a game that's gone gold -- it's not a beta or alpha. Do you even know what an alpha is? Alpha builds generally have zero working mechanics, they're usually to test a very specific feature or set of features and very rarely can even be played.
You could consider this a glorified beta if you want, as we weren't paying pretty much anything, even while it was free for a year. You had a box cost, but you didn't even get a cashshop.
Yep, I've noticed that since he said it. He's referring to the overall FF feel, not the game's "completion".
But of course, far be it from people looking to push an agenda (not wanting to pay to play the game) to ignore the actual context of a statement, and instead spin it to suit their own ends.
Cherry-picking and quoting things out of context are, after all, their favorite weapons.
No, it probably won't change minds. But for those with intellectual integrity and who prefer to base their decisions on actual facts rather than cherry-picked and deliberately misrepresented statements may feel compelled to find a new reason to hang their decision on.
Now that Yoshi has clarified his statement, no one can honestly say "It's not worth playing because Yoshi has stated it's only 50% complete".
... not that it's going to stop some folks from repeating it anyway.
Pre-alpha you mean? Alpha version can have working mechanics and made into game, if you ignore poor code and bugs.
Oh, I should have noted I speaking game's content/functionality vise, devs still struggling to fix/make basics of the game. I can't be anything higher than alpha.
You mean the basics which they have stated can't be so easily fixed because of the original design teams database structure and poor choices. I think that's what you mean... Hmm wonder why they are making v2.0? Because they are changing the engine and database design so they can implement these things in a non-complex messy sloppy half-assed way.
Reading, you need to does it gooder.
Ok, but.. if they decided to remake the entire game from the ground up (essentially they have). Then you could always argue that it's nothing near finished until the new version is released, because they are rebuilding the game. That's essentially what you're arguing.
They announced V2.0 but this isn't V2.0 so the game isn't complete.
I dono, I understand what you're saying... but to me V2.0 is like an expansion of the current game.
Let's use the ever-hated WoW as an example... to me it's like saying; "I'm not going to buy WoW [Vanilla, BC, etc etc.] until all the expansions are released because it's not a complete game yet". MMO's are games of constant change, I accept V2.0 as a free expansion, that's my take on it. We get to see exclusive content, progress characters, earn gil, be the first to touch content, complete achievements that will be forever lost once the new version is released and maybe more.
Yeah but, the key difference between this game and WoW is WoW actually had enough content to be considered a game upon release... Even now a year later this game doesn't count yet.
And this is really the heart of the matter. This is nothing like waiting until "x" amount of expansions are out to consider a full game. FFXIV STILL doesn't even have a mailing system or a search function. It doesn't have commands for linkshells. It's missing a LOT of core mechanics. WoW was not missing these at launch. WoW was not broken at launch. WoW was not broken a year after launch. FFXIV was and is. End of story.
lol @ ppl who thought this is a beta, when the Dev's never ever mention or giving any official statement that this is beta. ~_~
Hmmm.. for me? it depends on next update~ if i like it so much? i'll pay :D Like this if u have the same opinion .
