I've played the game since Beta. I lived through the great flame wars of '10. I've been watching XIV since pre-alpha and reading every bit of news I can find on it. I played XI from '04 until earlier this year. I consider my opinion no more or less valuable or valid than anyone who has played FFXIV. Mostly because the major issues are so glaringly obvious that even someone who's only played the game 3 or 4 hours can grasp what they are and that they need to change.
That being said though, I love how people call 'hardcore' players self-entitled and elitist, then go on to explain why they, who play only a few hours a week, are entitled to the same content/gear as the people who worked for months to get it. Now that's a major sense of self-entitlement right there. If you can't/won't/don't want to put the work in the get the gear/content unlocked then you don't deserve it. If you don't put the time in, then don't expect to reap the same rewards.
Like all things in life, games reward more to those who put more time/effort into them.
