That's the catch, and it works very well, and the funniest thing is that people will blame the players instead of blaming the dev team

"just get rid of your house and take a break until next patch", and they'll proudly show that quote from Yoshi P saying that you are supposed to take breaks from the game in between patches (but yet you have to stay subscribed for your house, so breaks are okay as long as you keep paying eh)

"let me get rid of the house i worked possibly years for so i can take a break, so then when i come back i can take a few years again to get the house again"

Have you seen the commentary from some of the perpetual forum dwellers? It's an echo chamber of negativity that bashes every single thing about the game. Why would anyone bother listening to people whose opinion will be negative no matter what and who apparently find nothing enjoyable whatsoever, yet still continue to actively play the game anyway?

Echo chamber? Bro we have like 7 threads that are constant back and forth trash flinging. How is that an echo chamber???

There's a big difference between criticising the game and insulting or threatening actual posters. The forums are far from an echo chamber and nobody bashes every aspect of the game. It just so happens that a lot of what some of us enjoy is being removed for the benefit of the same people insisting that the game is fine and that they're happy for a relic weapon to revolve around collecting tomestones yet again. So those of us who would prefer not to have every aspect of the game we enjoy be stripped away speak up and use the forum for its intended purpose - leaving feedback.

Well Im still subbed, is a house owner, and is currently playing WoW Dragonflight in the downtime and having fun with it.

But Im still also playing FFXIV as despite my issues and gripes, I still enjoy playing the game as well.

So porque no los dos?

All while conveniently ignoring that if you like say, raiding but only want to jump in later on in a tier's lifespan that you're now far behind in a capped currency that will have you waiting weeks to even "catch up". Or they'll ignore that the drip feed nature of content releases means if you aren't on the bandwagon quickly, you'll struggle to find people still doing said content. Funny enough those same people will then complain themselves how everyone "rushes!!" content and now they also can't find queues/people. The irony, of course, being lost on them that people took the very advice constantly echoed: they played the content they enjoyed then wait ahead with other content or started playing different games.

I've never understood the whole "FF14 respects your time" statement at all for exactly the reasons you stated. It makes no sense to me. Freaking WoW, in my view, respects your time more, albeit marginally.

The statement is there because you do not fall behind horribly if you take a break and come back. You're not far behind everyone else and locked out of doing harder content, there's no horrible grind requiring your constant time and effort to stay on par with everybody else.
