Mentor Roulette should have longer lockout time

I believe the two words your looking for are.. Fun and Experience.. alot of people find it fun to run the Exs New and old synced their first time to Experience it before they turn it into a joke by unsyncing..

Plus you gain experience from thr old trials that's used in a lot of the new ones too.. my static is currently going threw Eden and we've used a lot of callouts from old raids and Exs.. were on Shiva and during diamond frost we call out Shiva circles for the drops.. unsycned Shiva Ex you don't even see the Shiva circle anymore.. an not many people do Eden Shiva normal anymore since promise is unlocked.

Two points. One, most the mechanics you see in old EXs you also see in story trials and normal mode raids so doing old EXs for "experience" is moot. Two, you are forced into this content with a neutered, half missing kit. Gameplay at level 50 and 60 these day is bad and unfun, and a player is missing many key abilities that make a job fun. I can over look this in a story trial or normal mode raid because five minutes and I am done. With an old EX you can be forced into this neutered gameplay loop for 30 minutes plus.

Again people find handicaps and challenges fun too.. that's why we have people beating Dark Souls with a DDR pad or a Gutar Hero controller lol..

But to each their own.. my main point in this entire thread is that mentors should be held responsible for the trails and challenges they recieve when using mentor roulette and if they aren't or won't then they honestly need to not use that roulette or retire their crowns.

You static. Endgame players.
Players who reached endgame can find enjoyement in doing old exes synced, there are such people. I really find it hard though that someone who just finished 2.0 MSQ and still has various expansions of story to go through wants to spend many hours in between to clear old endgame. Generally they queue for it because the quests tell them to and they have no clue it's endgame and will take time and effort. Usually when you tell them they can just complete the quest unsync and you can run them through that they accept with joy.

Anyway guys, what comes out of this thread is: only Yoshi-P and Jesus are qualified to be mentors. Common mortals aren't worthy.

There is a reason PF exists though, there is nothing wrong on doing old content synched. I have seen people running Coils synched MIN ilv, alexander savage min ilv even at current patches and so on.

But this is all done outside of DF though.

It is also a much different feeling than doing current extreme content which you enter in practice runs vs entering in roulette DFs where you are at the mercy of some poor sprouts.
As right now, the Mentor roulette is just filling whatever is missing

I do not speak as a mentor because i do have 0 care on that, the way you earn it is also awful and it is also easy to have bad misconception on how mentors are. (Also I could be talking on how bad the commendation system is but that is for another topic)

The problem is -- and has always been -- people putting mentors on a pedestal.

Mentors tend to be especially bad about it.

You are right. That's why I see a lot of that in PARTY FINDER. The solution is right there. It seems to me that we want to punish the mentor for the new player who wants to be carried. Let's be honest. They haven't read or watched a guide and have most likely accidentally queued, not knowing what they're in for. Plus here's hoping there is no language barrier.

I'd wait for them to view the guide but now that's less time we have for the duty. At least then they could look at the guide in their preferred language. Why is a mentor expected to teach an entire multiphase fight at Extreme difficulty? Would a Mentor be expected to go through a players full opener rotation if asked or face punishment?

Let's drop all the Mentors that are only mostly helpful to new players. Mostly isn't good enough I guess as perfection is required. It's a great idea to cull the Mentors. Just have a bunch of players queue for Thordan Ex.

Yesterday i had a Warrior in Levi Ex, this warrior would not read chat, he popped every single cooldown 10 sec before pull (only before the fight never used anything during the fight) ... including Holmgang and his tank stance, so every other pull he put it on and every other pull he put it off. He attacked only he head, did not care about bubbles or adds. Fell during the first ship tilt -every time- and kept insta pulling every time we were reset even though we told him not to and stuff like this is not as uncommon as you would hope.

What can a Mentor do here? Weep quietly as you know there is no chance in hell you can win busting a full lockout? Leave? If players had at least basic job knowledge ... a lot more mentors would at least attempt to do ex trials.

I personally as a new player had cleared Garuda an Titan in duty finder and was trying to clear ifirit before anyone even told me about Party Finder.. so it's not like it's honestly that hard and secondly it's where my enjoyment of clearing fights synced came from and why I do savage raids now.. hoping to advance to ultimates some day too!

But yes, the game gives you tools for explaining stuff to other languages is it perfect no but it's still a tool to use.. the best way I've taught spouts myself is to pull the boss, see how it gose and ask if anyone had questions or explain what went wrong after each try.. its really not hard and if your not rude most spouts will listen an learn from you.

As for would a mentor be required to teach a rotation? Absolutely! It should be your honor to show the spouts the proper way to play a class if they ask for it.. should you be punished for not doing it? No.. but if you want explain how your own class works.. you probably shouldn't have that crown on with the class your playing lol

Lastly sure we can drop all the mentors who don't wanna do an Ex fight.. thats what they want too.. if they're only in it for the mount they were never going to teach new players to being with and there's no changing that..

There's a lovely post along side this one somewhere mentioning removing the mount and exs from mentor and re-adding them into a mentor Ex only roulette.. which I agree would work nicely.

We could even add a savage mentor roulette and 2 more crowns.. 1 glowing with light for doing mentor Ex and 1 with fire for savage mentor lol then MPK can make a new tag saying "triple mentor btw" (this is a joke fyi)
