The 1.22 image isn't really all that helpful as there's nothing else in the picture to judge its size against.

I don't know why but it always seems to me like it's the big red ball in the opening CS that all the primals kept flying from when it exploded (or something like that, go watch the opening CS again)

The ball the primals fly out of doesn't look very red to me XD

And, I think I recall reading somewhere in game that the primals require Aether-energy from the crystals to keep a connection with this world. Perhaps the destruction of either the engine on the ship, or the dragon, released a large amount of this energy which enabled multiple primals to come into the world at once.
