my g/f beat the story over 17 characters, plays 10 hrs a day, and ran each dungeon 100x over.. that us a bad reason to enforce a bad play style SE has been systematically tring get rid of.

I think it depends on the group.
If you and your healer can handdle it, well yes, mass pull can be fun, if one of them is having trouble, regular pull is good
IMHO it's all about communication :D
If the mobs don't maul you, the healer can keep up and there is enough AoE DPS then yes, but if the enemies take forever to die stick to small pulls even if you and the healer have no problem. If any DPS complains inform him about the lack of AoE damage and watch his "triggering".
See things don't consider is that the mobs in the leveling dungeons hit for a lot more than HW stuff, and you don't have your "OP" 60 gear with massive melds anymore (I doubt anyone bothers to meld leveling gear) TLDR don't do anything stupid and don't blame the healer when you do...lol if you get melted before they even turn the corner that's not their fault.
Incorrect. As a few mentioned, it was due to tanks easily losing aggro to AoEs. And frankly, the health difference from i270 STR vs. level gear VIT is maybe 700 or so, which is just 1 attack.
You also completely missed the point in your rant (honestly not surprising). Big pulls in ANY leveling dungeon was risky as, at any given time, someone may be "undergeared". HW 60 dungeons had big pulls because we had good gear to do it in and also our complete toolkit.
Its easy. If SE didnt want us to speedrun stuff, they would design it in a way where we actually need to fight, use our skills and whatnot. They want this. This is intended. Speedruns are the meta, because the game is most successful just quickly showering you in loot to keep you away from Legion.
As a new tank ifeel like i have to chime in for the people who get annoyed over tanks not pulling multiple groups.
Just from my perspective when i see a mob wander away from me and start chasing the healer and i struggle to get hate back i start to panic, then i start to get stressed, then i start to get angry and that does help anything.
There are too many gung-ho dps in this game who the moment they see my shield leave my body they have already attacked the mob i'm not targeting causing the pack to split up and giving me more stress.
My default is small pulls until i get much better at the game, if you are in a legit hurry (have to pick kids up from school or something similar) tell me and i'll do my best to pull more groups but outside of that i'm sticking with small pulls to limit the stress on myself.
The last thing i need is a jumped up little healer demanding i do more than i'm comfortable.
It depends on the group, if the DPS are able to deal decent amount of damage and the healer can handle it, then I see no issue with pulling alot of mobs, but if the dps are not able to deal enough damage or the healer has a hard time keeping you alive, then maybe its wise to dial down and pull small groups.
In the level 60-70 dungeons, I have noticed that AST and WHM have no issue with healing tank when there is a big pull, but SCH needs to heal more and they become out of mana alot faster then the other two healing classes. This could mean that the players playing the AST and WHM were just more compentent in healing then SCH that I have met or that SCH is just worse at healing compared to the other two classes.
Impatient people will continue to be impatient. A few RL friends started playing and I often run with them on one of my tank jobs to improve their queue times. They have both commented that most of the tanks they have encountered when I wasn't available were total jerks / terrible tanks.
