And people wonder why clear rates are so low... Just research the fight. There is no surprise, just rotations unfortunately.

I don't watch videos on story fights and dungeons, its more fun to find out on your own.
I do watch videos on raids and and extreme modes.
Other than the latest end game raid, nothing else really needs to watch a video.
I never do! I play the game for the experience, not to watch a video and then copy someone else's experience.
If it's a dungeon or story trial, no. I won't even bother watching a video. Most dungeon boss fights are easy enough to figure out as you do them. Same goes with anything MSQ related.
Raids and Extreme Fights, absolutely. Course for me it isn't enough to just take in a video. I still need the actual experience since while most do explain the mechanics, they usually don't help with how your rotation and cooldowns are going to play out. That's where you need the actual fight experience for your own playstyle.
24 man raids though, I won't watch a video either. I usually do those on day 1, and it's a lot of fun to communicate with 23 others on what to look out for and exchange information. Done that so far with ST and WoD and had a blast. Never even seen a video or guide of those even to this day. xD
I do it exactly the same way as many people here.
When the content is new, I do it without guides, but if it's old I check a video not to be a dead weight to my team.
I used to run everything blind till T12/13 (never cleared the later) then in Heavensward more and more people of the static ignored the blind run rule we had... we disbanded. now I am semi blind means no longer switch off chats n idm watching a vid if I am interested how to handle mechanics. I still support the idea to run blind but on the other hand sadly most people cant progress well then :( and I am a progressive player at heart sticking to semi-casual friends :)
I rarely watch guides but rather a video to know what to expect.
Wait how do people run anything by switching off a chat... that just seems..detrimental (even to blind runs)
I just watch clear videos when they come for raids (8-people version only). I figure out most of the stuff there and for the things I miss, well, I die to them :D
I do read some guide lines if I'm stuck on something that I can't understand though, but it hasn't really happened yet in FFxiv.
