Forcing us to the entire story quest to unlock the new classes is just bad business

If you want something you work towards it and get a sense of accomplishment.


Sadly there are people who go I want it right now I shouldn't have to work towards it its a game I shouldn't have to do work to get something I want.... so sad. Besides I don't know if it's because it's too early in the expansion but i have yet to get 1 rmt tell since before early access.

I would assume it's not worth time on any way since they quit as soon as they hit 50. They would probably just quit as soon as they hit 60 and that only takes like 3 days. ;)

This is the difference between 'challenge' and pointless fluff and busy work.

I have no issue with challenge in a video game but I do take exception to pointless filler (such as endless fetch quests) when I'm paying a monthly fee to play the game. I would just rather have the option to skip the pointless stuff and get straight into the 'work' or challenging aspects instead.

LOOOOL its not like we want free endgame gear RIGHT now or access into the expansion zones RIGHT NOW

we just want the JOBs to be available without the MSQ Gating
you know people play games for fun and for allot of players fun starts when they can play a class they actualy like but if they need to get to 50 and grind for days on the utterboring pointles MSQ AFTER hitting lvl50and pray for a group in the 10+ forced trials as a DPS they need to do to get the job/class they like then they get seriously discouraged and leave for a game where they can play a class they like and ENJOY the game from the begining NOT after max level + 100+ max level boring quests + 10+ trials with insane qoues for DPS.

and ALL this with a class/job they don't realy enjoy.

There's no "accomplishment" to finishing MSQ. As many others have pointed out, the majority of that quest is nothing but running between endless NPCs who monologue you to death, or ask you to fetch their laundry or cheese or wine or whatever the item of the day is.

Yes, there are some actual mechanics to learn (the Primal fights) in between, but we're talking what? 4 Primal fights in the midst of some 200 quests just at level 50? Primals which, I might add, many players won't even bother going back to now that they're old content.

I just went through the MSQ myself recently, as I'd never bothered to continue it past the mid-40s, and it was a dull experience comprised of far more grind and fetching than actual story - especially story relevant to what's happening in HW. I have to mostly agree with OP that the decision wasn't a great one, and wish they'd have put some effort into slimming down the MSQ HW requirements into something more streamlined, more relevant, and a lot less bloated than what it is right now.

You can try them before endgame. There are still 10 levels between the end of 2.55 and endgame.

Thats your opinion and you are entitled to it. I find completing the MSQ an accomplishment for myself because it takes a while to do it and I also gain access to a multitude of other matters.

Now I will agree that the 1.0 and 2.0 MSQs had pointless filler to them. To be frank, almost all MMOs have pointless filler in them. The main reason was to stretch out the game's length for a while as they were working on more content for it. Plus, its an MMO tactic to always give you something to do so you'll stay longer and pay more money.

Although having the MSQ as a prerequisite doesn't bother me, it does bother some people and should be addressed.

So every single player and potential new player comes to the forums or read Dev blogs and if they don't it's their fault they don't know.
The promotional material and box says "suffecient progress" which is kind of miss leading.

I actually do feel a sense of accomplishment from finishing the main story. I guess it's an accomplishment for me since i played since 1.0. But really maybe some of the 2.0 story was blah the Heavensward story is amazing and i feel bad for people who skipped the 2.0 story ( by that i mean skip cut scenes) because you won't get the build up or at most how emotional the story can be.
