People just don't get it, it is the fact that SoF was tied to the prospective sales (or not) of an expansion that was the problem here, its like trying to hammer a nail into concrete to get people to see this.

Why pay for an expansion if your locked out of accessing it "for any reason", lets go blow $40 on some content we may or may not get to play, uh huh, ok.

I agree the instance "didn't" need nerfed, "unless" it was potentially going to kill too large a percentage of expansion sales, I do not know how to put it any more bluntly.

Why some people want to kill the game at large if they cant have "all" challenging content it seems, is simply ludicrous.

People asking for this content to be left as it was is asking SE to go to the bank and shoot the banker, difficulty be damned.

Lets not alienate those who want more challenge, but alienate those who don't, who will most likely leave, go play something else, and oh by the way take their expansion and subscription money with them that "would" have funded your continued content, easy, middle of the road, "or" challenging, all inclusive.

If we cant have challenging content, lets run off all the casuals (and their money), and just have the game we want or shut it down.

Fortunately SE is smarter than this.

I agree with people saying that SoF didn’t need a nerf, since most of the problems in there seem to be people leaving the Instance, people not knowing/following mechanics and no communication. Maybe even low DPS due to fact that you only need to be iLvl 90 to enter the trail.

But, i’m not miffed about the fact that they did nerf it. The expansion will be released in a little over a month and since you can only enter Ishgard after completing the 2.55 Main Story quest, i would like to see everyone clear this trial and have fun in the new area’s and play the new Jobs.

So, i think a shout out to people asking if they need a clear for SoF and actually help them in getting that clear would be a better solution to the problem, rather than complaining about it.

I’m willing to help anyone who still has to clear this trial. I’d even be willing to start a thread where people (from every server) can leave his/her name if they still need a clear. Then, others can contact these players and form a party solely to clear this Trial.

I will also start making PF parties for people who want to clear this Trial, starting tomorrow.

I hope that i will be able to find more people from other servers who are willing to help out their fellow adventurers with clearing this Trial.

I have not been in there post nerf, but I think a nerf was needed. So long as there is a server group in which different people of different languages are thrown together on a regular basis. Didn't matter if you and the others only had our own language selected, we were thrown in a full party together anyway (along with the regular assortment of types of people that tend to make things difficult just because regardless of language). That is my one and only gripe about it. Jumping up and down and telling people to communicate is all well and good, but the auto translate only goes so far.

I used to love MMO games. They were difficult. Magical, Adventurous, Rewarding, Beautiful and had many things you could do from simply exploring to engaging in hard and rare encounters.

Now, everything is streamlined for the every day average Joe who in turn is part of and feeding the Gold Sellers via paying for runs through high level content they never, ever would have had access to.

The point of my post is simply to outline that ever since mmo's were dumbed down (about 11 years ago) Profits have shot way up, and so did quality in some areas, but every other area suffered as a result.

Now, people will never be happy about anything because they are given everything. MMO's have become the jack of all trades, master of none in the gaming world.

I'm sort of writing this in response to the nerf made to Steps of Faith. Looking back at old content as well, SE tends to implement nerfs / ease of mechanics to many things that players find "difficult". I personally do not really agree with that idea. I understand that there is a need to scale the difficulty down on old content to allow for newer players to blitz through them with minimal hassle but because of that, it sort of defeats the purpose of an increasing level of challenge as players get better skill wise and gear wise. Taking an old example of Pharos Sirius, I find it rather upsetting that the dungeon was nerfed because many players found it to be a bit too difficult for its rewards. Clearly SE did not think it through with how they wanted to scale the difficulty of the dungeons when they were first introduced.

I would actually like to see when new dungeons are introduced in a trio, we should always get ONE difficult dungeon which gives slightly more rewards, maybe 20 more of the tomestones? I also understand that this may make more players favour the "difficult" dungeon to cap their weekly limit of the tomestones but this way, SE could actually make the dungeon to be surprisingly more difficult than the others. It would be interesting to see how this can be put into play. The idea of having a new challenge out of raid content is actually very refreshing to at least keep the game interesting whenever an update is introduced because as of now, content runs stale whenever you clear the new tier of coil. There just isn't any other challenge to it once you've cleared raid content.

I speak for myself mostly, but I would really like to see an element of challenge every time a new patch is introduced. Making a dungeon longer is not a challenge though. Maybe with the new skills, more interesting mechanics could come into play. Who knows?

Well lucky you! They added a thing in 2.55 called "Steps of Faith" and it's pretty tricky for lots of folks!

Oh, wait, has it been a significant amount of time since then already!? Good heavens, they've probably eased it up by now to make it less of a bottleneck for those still catching up as we draw closer to an expansion!

If you want challenge, do content when it's new.

The longer something sticks around, it's made easier by equal parts people becoming accustomed to it, gear outclassing it, and SE cutting the numbers a bit because they believe extremely correctly that those looking for a challenge have gotten it from it already.

You and I have a very different opinion on a 'significant amount of time'
Patch 2.55 was on the 31st of March, it's been just over a month. Not exactly like it's 6 months down the line.

People complain about the steps of faith being too hard. People complain about the constant disbanding of steps of steps of faith. People complain about the new jobs being locked behind the old main story content. SE listens and makes it easier for new people to clear an older trial to able to clear old main story content. People complain about that.
