Also, the ability to switch your MAIN class/job per patch. For example, everyone who switched their MAIN to Ninja in 2.4. I imagine people would've been pretty upset if they had to re-level another char and farm the gear to just be get back into end-game. Let alone that SE made the Striking Gear have DEX so that people could switch if they wanted to. SE could have just as easily said, nope, you have to go get "Scouting" gear from SCoB to join your static in FCoB. Go spend hours farming prior content if you want to switch.

Nah, I get your point, and I even agree that it's an accurate point. i130 gear is unnecessary for anything outside FCOB. It doesn't matter, because people don't play to collect only the necessary gear and then stop. People play to get stronger. Once a group proves that they can beat T13, for example, there's no need for that group to change anything about their gear until 3.0 launches; yet I can guarantee that they'll continue to gear up their mains for the next however many months it takes.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have no issue with the rate that we can gear up our main classes (though I kinda think having tome gear start 10 ilvl below raid gear is silly, but w/e). My only minor complaint is that unless you're buying shared gear, you can't gear up your main and an alt on the same week. If I were going to change anything about the system, it wouldn't be allowing 600 spend-anywhere tomes, it would be allowing 450 tomes per role. Note that while this seems like it would make us gear way faster than SE intends, if you lock it behind roles no one role is advancing faster than the current rate. Yes, each player would have more gear (if they grind out the tomes), but no one would be hitting full i120 any faster than they are now.

The issue is that different players have different amounts of time to dedicate to the game. Player A might be focusing just on BRD and have time to get 450 poetics and week, spend them on BRD equipment and master that job.
Player B has twice as much time to spend in the game and has time to get 900 poetics a week (if that were posible) and has devote time to master 2 different jobs.

Why shouldn't player B be able to equip them both properly?

Content pacing.

It doesn't matter if player B has more time or not. They deliberately and specifically are pacing the rate at which a single player can possibly consume the content. On purpose. No suggestion will be seriously considered unless it can address content pacing. It's not enough to say that someone who plays more should be allowed to do more. In this specific instance that solution blatantly ignores any content pacing in favor zerging it as fast as possible simply because you can. Such "solutions" are DOA and would only lead to people complaining sooner that there "isn't anything to do."

Because developers have bought into the lowest common denominator in the recent years.

If you could't get the best shit in the game playing 2 hours a week they wouldn't have to pace content. Older MMOs the only thing paced was raid target lockouts. Everything else was completely unlimited. Except back then you had to put more effort into getting those things than "Ok I'm going to sit in town and queue for my dungeon tuned 40 ilvls below the gear you can get from doing the dungeon and 2 hours later be done for the week.

the MULTIPLAYER has been completely removed from MMOs. Back then you spent half your time helping other people because hey you scratch their back they will scratch yours when YOU wanted something. Now its just "do your roulette and log" no reason to help anyone else because there is next to nothing they need help with.

With drop rates lower than 1% to keep you going. Once again. Content pacing. Just a different version of it. Content pacing has always been an aspect of end game loot in MMOs. MMO's are based on the concept of delayed gratification after all.

While I doubt that the weekly cap will be raised, it does seem likely that poetics will go the way of solidery prior to the expansion.

Sounds nice to me,specially since I don't consider any of my jobs my main I love them all lol, and like you said doesn't effect how fast people gear their mains.
(well technically it does by a little bit since chest,pants, all are 2 week items and weps 3 but w/e)
