People sacrifice good gear for "fashion"

normally i choose best equip..but there are thing that my PG can't wear.

For example in FFXI on my elvaan-M i really hate subligar..

this is character design.

In GW i can't stand the horrible design of warrior that have bad looking armor and a bull type costitution that can't be changed.

A lot of time a set of armor is simply too horrible to wear without ruin a character look,

Once I tried on the Nighthawk Visor nothing else matters. I want to be Robin damnit!

I wear what I think looks appropriate for my character then make adjustments based on stats where I can, end of'. You have a problem with me doing that, sod off and party with someone else; preferably another wants to cry over people not wanting to look like a bunch of failed clowns and copies of each other.

I swear, this game's playerbase is unbelievable sometimes; you've got people simultaneously shrieking over how stupid repeated terrain elements look, and at the same time bawling over other people not wanting to wear the same thing as everyone else or wear things they think look stupid. Why people can't just leave others alone to play their way, I'll never know.

That said, I mostly wear class and rank-compatible gear anyway 'cause I tend to come up with character looks with their combat styles in mind from the start. .. Except for the wandering duelist Lalafell in the green robe and steepled hat, at least (not Forra, he practically lives in that acton >.>).

Then don't party with me, and I won't be offended, because if your primary concern is how *my* gear may hinder *your* progress, I'd be just as happy taking finding a new group of like-minded individuals to play with (isn't that how you're supposed to do it anyway?).

As it is, I mostly solo or play with a tight-knit group of friends. So why not let me play how I like? If I want to play dress-up, so what? Maybe that's why SE allowed it, to give people more options to get what they want out of the game, rather than tailoring it to exactly what Ventus wants so his personal parties don't suffer?

Of course, I'll concede a "wardrobe" option would give everyone what they want, and I'd fully support that over a limited, one way only system! : D

Lol, then I should mention that I've always chosen fashion over stats whenever it came to general gameplay since the Vana'diel years. If people have a problem with it then, well, that is their choice of opinion. If I can't look good while doing things I want then it takes from the fun and leaves me with another chore.

When and where the stats make the difference or show the most promise is when I will switch my sets to appropriate the situation (i.e. Sea, Sky, NM's etc.) Lucky for me though I play the healer, so my experience has taught me that 0% of people care what gear I choose to wear during any event (I could probably get away with being naked :3 )

I suppose I would be one of those people that prefer appearance rather than stats. Of course I choose pieces that are actually around my range though, in this case, rank. I'm not going to equip something that provides little benefit to me or my party. That being said, top gear has never interested me and I find the benefits to be exaggerated. Some people seem to think if I'm not wearing certain gear, there's no point in even fighting because I'm suddenly deemed useless. I think everyone can agree there's more to it than just stats, such as skill. On a lighter note, it's depressing to be in a party and you look at the other members and everyone is wearing the same thing. I also do not find pirates attractive.

If people could just read behind the hieroglyphic. I was very clear and constructive in what I typed, as you requested. And since you can't seem to understand, let me spell it out for you.

- In your OP you specifically stated that you had an issue with people playing the game a certain way. In your own words "it's quite selfish so I ask why? Why is this allowed?". Perhaps you are absent minded, or just don't read what you type, but accusing people of being selfish for choosing their own path in a game... isn't that inflammatory?
- Due to the above point, you received replies which were aggressive. When you type something that has the possibility to offend people, you will receive aggressive replies. I can cite many examples of this or just point you to the entire history of mankind. You then proceeded to call such people trolls, and moaned about how they weren't giving you the constructive replies that you wanted.
-In the face of all this, I posted a very sarcastic and humoured reply. With a Sheen edge to it of course. Now I'm assuming by your apparent inability to recognise how your own words might make some people actually angry that you thought I was angry in some way when I typed that. If that is how you choose to perceive it, very well. Makes no difference to me.

In summary, not only do you want people to wear the gear that you think is the best way to play. You also want people to post replies the way you think is best. Charming. Magnificent.

I'll leave you with a thought... go look up the definition of 'play' in the dictionary and then think about how you've convoluted it with your opinions about how people should be playing this game.

Honestly I had 0-hat kirin osode, scop harness, leeping and bounding boots and tbh I never saw a difference. And Vent, I wasn't being anything you claimed, sorry if it came out like that. But honestly read your OP. You do come off as a pompus elitist. Gear stats are only meant to suppliment your character. It makes you no better or worse. I've done stuff is the worst gear in ffxi. Like duoing prime avatars in some cheap "gimpy" monk gear subbing dnc. Honestly look at stats on gear in ffxi, most was just +1 or +4 hughest was +10 on kirins. with minir +acc +att etc. Stats in ffxi was 2str= 1 attack point. etc. Oh and for my monk on the avatar fights i used that cloth style level 50 armor sam/nin/mnk used it had the + emt on it and that really it. And I used some crap h32h gear also. Skill in playing is most importent.

Like i said there really is no 1 epic set of gear for all. It goes into how you play or how you set your character up. Gear should never make you better your skill should.

Fashion isn't about being practical it's about looking fabulous while your feet are bleeding in designer shoes!
