PVP - Ideas & Expectations!!

I just want pvp

I'm all for PVP.

I'm fine with PvP if people want it, but give us the option to automatically turn down /duel or /spar requests or whatever. It would get mighty irritating to have someone following me around, spamming /duel or /spar or whatever.

I'm a lover, not a (PvP) fighter.

2) Another thing I would like to see being implemented is Team PVP, I realize that Battlegrounds like in WoW will not work well, however minigames like in Aoc might actually work good in FFXIV.

3) Open World PVP, and I don't mean pk, ganking etc, I mean possibility of having duels everywere we go in game, I'm sure it would bring a lot of fun, and players would find cool places to do their own private tournaments, fights etc.

4) The only thing left 4 me is some kind of Reward PVP Points System, for which we could probobly buy PVP gear etc, but that I guess I would leave to Dev Team :p

Personally I would want the arena to be a full arena with the options to fight monsters as well in solo or group combat for some kind of points that can be used for something. Then I would like arena pvp as well solo or group or solo vs small group see how long you can last type battle. Final Fantasy will never give us open world PvP in the sense like other games does, we will get something akin to ballista from FFXI but hopefully without the stupid mini game. Atleast make it capture the flag or something of the sort, I always thought digging up petras and throwing them into a rook was really lame idea. Also I would like to see a battleground type battle where you only have one life and once you die you are out of the game. Last team standing wins.

I disagree with you 100%, I want PVP to be really important aspect of the game. Class balance can be easily based around both, in WoW it was easier because they had dedicated specs. FFXI did a pretty good job at balancing the classes during fights and with a game like FFXIV it would be even easier in my opinion with the ability to equip abilities from other classes even after that system has restrictions it will be self balancing. Now you should never be obligated to participate in battles but my ultimate dream for FFXIV PvP would be Player based companies or even Grand Companies having Airship battles of sorts against each other where it would start long ranged and then move side by side and you raid each others ship. It would be amazing though I doubt I would ever see the likes of that in FFXIV one can dream. Personally I am not a big PvP fan and even in WoW I didn't participate in it that much but I loved having the option to be able to do PvP whenever I felt like and be able to contribute.

Okay, I'm going to settle this.

Honestly, they have a lot to fix before even considering PvP. LS Admin, Looking for Party, /SEA, Delivery Box, AH, pet jobs etc.

PvE is like a religion with the FF group, even suggesting it is blasphemous! And god help you if you suggest that SE look at ideas that have worked for other companies like regional servers or pvp and pve only servers... everyone knows there's only one true way (whatever the director decides). I think if players like Zephir had there way, people would have to submit applications and prove there worthiness/dedication in order to play ffxiv

I lol'd at this. He may be a bit extreme but I as a FF player/ fan base...disagree with your reason why, and I'm getting this implied version from you, it's not the idea of it (PvP) being bad it's just some don't like or want it to be THE MAIN part of the game. Imo, there have been some really good ideas posted from both sides so don't let Zephir's thoughts cloud your judgement of the rest of us. And just because it works in other games doesn't mean it has to be part of THIS game. ;)

They said from the beginning that PvP would not be the main aspect of the game and in no way could I ever see it going that route. SO most of you do not ever have to worry about that but even when they do bring it will always be just an optional thing and the PVE players will never have to touch it if they do not want to. But I would like to see PvP to be a lot more than what it was in FFXI because like I said before I would love to see an arena that allows PvP solo and group combat and also player vs monsters solo and group content. In a sense that would be PVE content built into the arena and would be beneficial to all players for winning battles and collecting points or something of the sort.

This exactly, If you want hardcore pvp then go play wow or one of the many other games that revolve around it. For starters the latency in this game will never be good enough for competitive pvp in NA zones. I don't care how much optimizing they claim to do.

If they can make Final Fantasy - War Hawk style I'm all up for it LOL land and air battles all going on at same time, charging with chocobo's and having squad full of mages all lined up casting spells. But due to the server and gaming specs probably impossible...
