Ah the fatigue system.... I mean how in the world a company with some great masterpieces under their belt would even allow for such a thing baffles me. Tanaka reminded me of a crackhead that was ashamed that he smokes crack. He knew having the fatigue system was such a stupid thing to have but chose to keep it in anyways.

You must be on drugs I'm sorry despite my huge disappointment in XIV I still have a soft spot for Square and hope them well, but you are just on another planet with your fanboyism . Rinsui is absolutely correct , if you ever follow or have been playing MMos for a while even the much smaller MMo companies do a lot more than this giant.

In my opinion its that they're actually making the game...in the open beta they told us "this is 30% of the game", when we go to the release all that was new was a rank increase from 30 to 50. So I feel they fibbed to us about the beta only being 30% of the game, and it was more like 50%+. Meaning they have a lot of content to either A) produce or B) revise and then implement.

Like I said, the only reason why you'd think so is if you don't understand game development, and especially SE's current game development.

This tells us nothing about the quality of changes, or the scope. They might be insufficient and completely lackluster in relation to the time spent on them- in fact, I think that will most likely end up being the case.

Yet that still doesn't make my point any less valid. The pacing of patches is in no way an indicator of their progress. They could have shut the servers down for a year and released huge overhauls and tons of changes all at once- and they would still have made just as much progress as if the servers were up and they implemented the same patches little by little during the year.

How you can twist these facts into me being a fanboy is fascinating. I'm not saying the changes will be good or even enough- I'm predicting the opposite. What a fanboy I am indeed.

But it's convenient card to use when your argument sucks. Or when you simply don't understand what you're reading.

I just don't get what's the problem. We have a SET LIST of information whats to come and planned til the end of summer 2011. If you don't enjoy the game, don't like it, have no hope that it will become what XI has become at one point. Stop playing!

We know what they are working on, it's not that we have to have "faith" in anything like we had to have on XI, we KNOW what's coming, now its everybodies own choice to either wait for that stuff to come(til the end of summer 2011 latest) or just stop playing either completely, or til the end of summer 2011 or whenever you think the game has reached the point where its enjoyable. I don't know what's the problem about that?

The people not able to stop fucking playing a game they hate/don't enjoy, or accuse the devs of not investing enough time are the stupid fanboys here, cause they are unable to ACCEPT facts and deal with it appropriately. If I hate/don't like something, I stop doing it if the CHOICE IS UP TO ME! And hell...we're talking about a stupid video game, everyone is free to leave...there are no chains attached. You didn't sign a contract with SE when you bought the game that made you give up your RL and wait for XIV to become the holy grail! Since you're so convinced(and everybody who likes your posts) that XIV ia a rusty can, you're just pitiful, cause you are unable to to turn your back on something you obviously don't enjoy. So let's talk about fanboys here again...

So instead of complaining how bad the game is, that Devs do nothing to make it any better, that the game is bound to fail anyway, why not take your own advice and FUCKING LEAVE?

I was all in for complaining about the stuff that was and is wrong in the game but by now the devs KNOW whats wrong and they are dealing with this pile of shit on a daily basis. At first it encourages you to do better when people complain about the stuff you made, but at some point(9 months later) it discourages you when people still complain about the same stupid shit you already said you are working on! They gave us a timeline til end of summer. Wait for that to come, THEN you're free to complain again about whatever is still wrong up to that point that has been said to be better by then.

point of the thread, is people telling SE to get more actual changes out faster, basically they are saying ok, 9 months for this amount of content is horrible, 6 ,omths is also bad.

Basically until the game has a plethora of content, they need to shorten the development cycle somehow.

Think about it, end of summer is 1 year. HOw far do you think other games get in one year? even from point 0? think about it, 1 year of development, from vanilla, all we are projected to get is. 3nms 3 dungeons 24 mini nms quests and jobs, bug fixes, and the game shipped content poor.
What other MMO showed less growth in a year?

Most games show "no progress" for many years and then suddenly the game is released.

It's hard to wrap your head around that concept when the game was already released and the service is online, but that's the only difference. If the servers were taken down and SE were to work in secrecy for a year there would be no threads like this. Everyone would just assume that they're working on the game behind the scenes. But now that the servers are online it's suddenly not a possibility, even when they constantly keep repeating that's what they are doing.

Well, that's human psychology for ya.

Anyway, they're in a bad position regardless, because the current project hasn't been going on since September. January is more like it. They lost at least 2 months, with the earthquake probably even three, and no one cares. Not that they should, but acknowledging this can bring some much needed perspective into the bitching.

I can't understand WHY people continue defending SE... They didn't do a good work with FFXIV, but we paid for it anyway. Now, I think that it's our right pretend fast news and patches because in 9 months the game is improved a bit but is still full of problems and without contents...

I know that big changes need time but I'm sure that add new equipments/recipse in game or just give us daily news about the game and its future shouldn't be so difficult.

Or wait. Are you arguing that, since SE does not actually have anything worth showing it's quite understandable they don't implement anything and just give us clear timelines like "sometime in summer" (2012)? Finally, we are on common ground!

I know that 1 year after Guild Wars release there was a lot of content released, new features added and even more class balances. then they released guild wars Factions with new maps, mechanics, music, and 2 classes. guild Wars' dev's house was probably much smaller than SE. But then again.. japan is loosing their share of gaming market for a reason.

Well, I don't see what the big rush is myself. SE is the one loosing millions every month keeping servers open, and dishing out salaries to the dev team. Not really my right to complain in such a situation, where it is just as easy to take a break from the game, and put it out of my mind.

It also kind of seems logical that XIV, if they do have oodles of content stocked up for us, would hold it back for the time, and throw it at us when we're paying subs, and getting our moneys worth. Instead of just milking and completing every update as soon as they are released.

Since XI isn't planning anymore real expansions, and most of its systems are set in stone by now, it seems like everything that does get developed, goes straight to the table. Also I'm sure everyone on XIs dev team knows the ins and outs of all the systems and the engine like the back of their hands by now.
